  OK guys, I'm all set, my sense of humor is back :) It took MS technical support some time (which made me feel less stupid) and they had to make a new key. It seems that when changes are made to certain machines that I upgraded was a Compaq Evo bios conflict there, it seems to be more prevalent in the 2002 version of XP Pro OEM.

  Microsoft taken care of once I found the right number to call, so everything is good again. Thanks for your replies.

• When trying to activate Windows Firewall manually, get code error 80070422 0 x ' windows firewall cannot change some of your settings.

  I use windows 7.

  my windows firewall was disabled. When I click on turn on the firewall, that a message "Action Center can't turn on the firewall".when I try to turn on manually I get an error report that says error code 80070422 0 x ' windows firewall cannot change some of your settings.

  can someone please help?

  If you have the following AV, antivirus, programs installed, close your Windows Defender. Purpose of these AVs have their own advocates. 2 defenders on the same machine will create conflicts.
  Bottom line: it's ok. It's normal.
  List of AVs which will stop Windows Defender:

  Norton
  McAfee
  AVG
  Microsoft Security Essentials

  If you do not have one of the programs above AV, here's how to restart Windows Defender:

  Start button > in the search box, Services > press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
  topic status , it must be said... Has begun
  under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
  If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties >
  in Startup Type, click on the pointer to the right and select automatic
  to the service status, click Start
  Click OK when finished.
