  • disk cleanup does not start 'Microsoft has encountered an error.

I am running Win XP Pro SP3.  I tried to do a disk cleanup.  I tried to go through system tools and also start, run the cleanmgr.  Neither one would go.  I get the standard Microsoft window that says an error has occurred and I would like to send a report.  I tried running malware analysis and restart also. Any ideas?

I'm sorry, that I couldn't find useful on this topic.  For the most part, the suggestion is either give up and download/install Ccleaner or to extract a new copy of cleanmgr.exe.  The latter usually does not have contributed.

CCleaner is a good utility, but if you go this route, do not use record cleaning option.

The current version of cleanmgr.exe, which should be located in C:\Windows\system32, is 6.00.2900.5512 that there should be a copy of the same version of the file in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386.  On my XP Pro system, I have an earlier version 6.0.2900.2180, C:\Windows\$NTServicePackUninstal$ and I have 'the original' in compressed form in C:\i386 (this is the version 6.0.2600.0).

I saw a suggestion of semi-utile troubleshooting in the latest post (LasseA123) here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/789412-disccleanup-will-not-run-2.html note, however, that the problem discussed in this thread was in Vista, and that the two keys under this says LasseA123 caused his problem are not present in XP.  If you follow the suggestion here and actually isolate the problem to one or two subkeys, include this information in the post that I am proposing in the next paragraph.

My only suggestion is to start a new thread, either here, most likely in the Forum of Technet XP3: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/itproxpsp/threads with the subject 'Event 1000 Cleanmgr ID' and focus on the disciplines that you pasted here.  If you try to replace the current copy of the cleanmgr.exe with one or more of the files in the location I mentioned above but still have the problem, include this information in your message as well.

  • Should I delete "by user pending windows error reporting" in disk cleanup?

Hi, I'm using Vista Home Premium and this is my question.

'by user windows error reporting pending"on my performances of more than 16.5 GB so disk cleanup I think delete. I checked the forums window says it's a bug and will mess up my data if I did. But the answers were pretty old (2007-beginning of 2009). My laptop is just upgraded to service pack 2. So I don't know whether or not this so-called bug has already been fixed. Should I delete it or just leave it there? Will it continue to grow if I don't do anything? I read some messages and some said that it has increased to more than 100 GB.

    Thank you.

    Hello

If you encounter any problems, then you can use Disk Cleanup to remove all error reports and
    dump files.

    I hope this helps.

  • Disk Cleanup is not showing me the ability to clean the system error memory dump files

Hello. When I run the disk cleanup utility in Vista, it does not show the option of cleaning the system error memory dump files. It is a very serious problem. I had to delete files that I really wanted to keep, because I thought they were taking too much space. He did not make a particle of difference. I have only two GB on my C drive now. How to fix this problem?

    Kim

You must use the scroll bar on the right disk cleanup in the window that appears after checking for space to scroll to check the boxes before these items.

Deleting the less important system restore points allows you to earn useful free disk space.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments.

cCleaner also comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

  • System error report Queuing (disk cleanup)

I ran disk cleanup, the other day and noticed that section "Error in queue system report" had been 60 GB. I've never seen this before and literally just big, it appeared from nowhere. I could have checked to remove, but after having looked up to many forums, they do not advise as it could damage your computer. Any advice on what it is and how I should face?

Yes, it's just a report. It should certainly not be this monstrous!

This problem is often associated with a registry cleaner utility that deleted registry keys that it should not have. That's the risk you take when installing and running third most own utilities. They can get a little aggressive and remove or change the keys to Windows or other programs need to function properly.

There is a small patch on the site www.vista64.com that recreate the necessary keys. Should solve the problem of the creation of this big files again.

    I hope this helps

  • Delete or not; "System error Memory Dump Files" & "Debug dump files" in the Windows 7 disk cleanup program

I am new to Windows 7, 64-bit OS and making the disk cleanup program. There are 2 unfamiliar topics with boxes to check what are the "Debug Dump Files" and "system error memory dump files.  I'm naïve as to what are these files and whether they contain all files that possibly should not be deleted.  Can anyone say and find out about what are the debug files and system error Memory Dump and if; Should I or not the check their boxes to get rid of all these files in particular type box?  Or could there be some Debug files & system error Memory Dump that might be of some importance and should not be deleted?

Thank you for your time and any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.  Have a nice weekend.

    Tom R

One good thing about Windows Disk Clean up is, only offer files delete them it is safe and will not harm your PC. Files of system errors and debugging dump files are created when there is an error in your system, and it creates a dump file that could be used for analyses. That say if you encounter blue screen error, dump file will create and if you find analysis you of cause of this problem. Whether or not you want to remove, you, some people will delete it only while others will keep the Explorer themselves later. But more importantly, it is wise to report them to Microsoft before deleting.

To do this, open Control Panel and click under Maintenance contract and Action Center, click Check for solutions then it will collect all the information related to the errors and dump files and he could ask permission to send them and if you great permission, they will be sent. Once it was successful you can delete them.

Sending the Microsoft dump files is a good idea, because there are teams who revisit and they try to find the cause and resolve it through Windows Update, or inform you about the possible solution in the center of the Action.

    Hello

1 were you running the scan of auditor of file system as an administrator?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

3 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    Method 1:

I suggest to perform the disk check and check.

    a. click on Start
    b. type cmd in the start search box
    c. right-click on cmd.exe in the list programs and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted to provide a
Administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue
    d. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk/r X:

Note: in this command, X: is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.

    a. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
    b. close all applications and restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, repeat steps a through d for the other volume and then check if the disk cleanup works.

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found, all available on which data may be lost

You can also try to run the analysis of auditor of files system in administrator mode.

    Method 2:

You can also perform a full virus scan by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check.

I suggest you to perform an analysis of your computer online by visiting the link below:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: there is a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and which can be removed in the cleaning process.

  • Disk defragmentation will not leave after a disk cleanup, then a Defrag.

    Original title: Defrag quit smoking

After a disk cleanup, then a defrag, my laptop Vista SP1 quit the application.  I let it run for several hours. I'm NOT cnnected to the internet I use this computer for music production. SP2 will solve this dilemma?

    Hi Drumminman,

    1. what happens when you try to close the defarg?

    2. you receive messages or error codes?

3 have you tried to use the computer during execution of the defragmentation?

Usually if the disk is very fragmented evil, it can take a long time to perform the defragmentation.

You can try these steps and see if it helps.

    Step 1:

You can also temporarily disable the security software and firewall installed on the system and check if the problem persists.

Note: Be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking.

    Step 2:

You can also scan [SFC] System File Checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files & check if the problem persists.

For more information, you can consult the following link.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Step 3:

You can also try to install Windows Vista SP2 to solve the problem and to improve the performance of the system.

For more information, you can consult the following article:

Learn how to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)

    Hope this information is useful.
