Error 1316 and 1603 when installing HP Active Support Library and Support HP

Original title: Error 1316 and 1603 questions

I am trying to install HP Active Support Library and HP support on my Vista laptop.  I keep running into the same mistakes: 1316.A network error occurred trying to read from the file c:\Windows\Installer\HP Library.msi active support - I then click ok and the installation is restored, and then I get the error: 1603 Fatal error during installation.  Consult windows help install (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information. I looked in my windows folder and I have no file.  Can someone please tell me what to do?

Hey, Lestat,.

There is an article in the Knowledge Base by HP talking Error 1316 and 1603, during the installation of the HP software. Follow the suggestions listed in the links below and you should be good to go.

The steps described in the article above also apply to Vista.

  • Error: 0 x 80280006 when installing Windows Movie Maker 2.6

I still get and error message error: 0 x 80280006 when you try to install Windows Movie Maker 2.6. The information indicates that

the codec has not been installed because the box options has not been verified before downloading program.  I have not yet found none

options box.  I used Windows Movie Maker on Windows XP on a computer with a 32-bit system earlier, but have not been able to

install on Windows 7 on this 64 bit laptop.

Windows Movie maker 2.6, is NOT a "new and improved" program

On the contrary, the 2.6 version is just a "watered-down" version It is used for some Vista computers that are unable to support its native version of 6.0 integrated which, in my opinion, is the best version of Windows Movie Maker.

2.6 is compatible with Windows 7, but why waste your time when Win 7 can have Windows Live Movie Maker that is intended for Windows 7?

Please don't waste your time at the 2.6version facility.

Install Windows Live Essentials 2011 which includes Windows Live Movie Maker.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/Windows-essentials

Note: it is a Windows Live Essentials 2012 available, but I don't know if it's a "Beta" or a final version. I installed it and it seems fine.  WLE 2012 also includes Skydrive in the package.

  • Error 1603 when installing Adobe CS4 on Vista 64

I'm trying to install Adobe CS4 on Vista 64 and it fails to install with error 1603.  I went on the website of Adobe, and they said that the problem is a color profile file named "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" claiming Adobe is locked, it cannot be changed.  Adobe has suggested that I use a "Unlocker" utility found on a 3rd party Web site, but McAfee is down this dangerous site.  So second suggestion of Adobe is to search on Microsoft a way to unlock this file.  I searched, I have not found anything that could unlock a file in Vista.  So, does anyone know how to unlock a file on Vista 64?  Does anyone know how to get around this installation problem?  Does anyone know how do I know what program has a locked file so that I can stop it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to solve this problem by following these steps:

    (1) open the control panel in Vista.

    (2) select the icon for color management.

    3) go to the Advanced tab

    (4) in my computer, using the device profile "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1" which corresponds to the "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" file
I changed this setting to use "sRGB virtual device model profile" instead of "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1".»  (I don't know if ' profile of device model virtual sRGB "is available on the computer for everyone, but I don't think it's so important as long as it's not" sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 "").

    (5) I have my case the "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1" was also used as the default value for the system, so at the bottom of the window is a button says "Change default system" click on it.

    (6) then click on continue (you need to continue administrative privilege).

    (7) make the same changes as above for the device profile in this new window.

    (8) close these panels with the changes.

    (9) install Adobe CS4 (Yeh!).

    (10) after that, I went back the color management and set the default initial profile bot and system to "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.

At least it does the job for me.  I don't know how this will work for others.

I hope this helps, I lost a week of messing around with this thing.
