Error 1603 on Skype update... refuses to install... Invalid key for an erroneous use of the specified state

After scoring in Skype to find an available button update, I clicked on it, only to have the update crash with an error code 1603.

I tried the Fix suggested itinerary It, uninstall Skype, with difficulty it and then put it back, but did not work.

Pop up with an error box saying "KEY NOT VALID for USE in SPECIFIED STATE."

Using Vista 32, but don't see how that could be a problem because Skype ran perfectly before the update.

Run the following program, restart, then try to update Skype again.

    Hi Jammyhorse,

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the PC?

    2. when the problem started?

    3. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Step 1:

You can check the following link and run the Fixit and see if helps solve the problem.

Diagnose and automatically repair audio playback problems

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/NO_SOUND/

    Also check out the link:

Tips for solving common audio problems

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems

    Step 2:

In the BIOS settings advanced, you can also check if the onboard sound is enabled.

You can see the manual of the system manufacturer or contact the system manufacturer for more information on how to make the changes in the BIOS.

Note: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

Disabled under msconfig.exe startup items are moved to this location in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Tools\MSConfig
To permanently delete, you can delete the key relevant to this place. Method of the prudent man will like so:
    1. Burn a CD of Windows repair. Everyone who makes his own PC must have a maintenance.
    2. Create a System Restore Point.
    3. Start the computer with the CD in repair and check if the above Restore Point is visible.
    4. Start normally.
    5. Remove the offending registry key.

    Hello MaureenCYB,

    Thank you for the question!

I'm sorry to know that have problems you with the startup message. As I understand it, you get an error message "Run DLL there was a problem starting C:\users\Maureen\AppData\Local\Temp\ the specified module could not be found" when starting.

I need to ask you a question to help you best.

Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: follow step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

Answer to us if you are having problems with error starting or any other issue of Windows, and I'd be happy to help you again and try to correct the problem as soon as possible.

    Good day!

    Hope this information helps.

I am running windows vista and installed updates and now cannot get online.  I tried to run the system restore, but that did not help.  This happened once before when the only web sites that I could access were secure web sites, I have changed the security settings and that fixes the problem.  Nothing works for now.

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

    =========================

Error message after you install an update of Windows Internet Explorer from Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "cannot display the webpage".
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/942818

If not help to tweak the parameters of your third-party firewall, try the following:

    1. disable your antivirus, all modules of Norton (as applicable), a real-time protection provided by an anti-spyware application (with the exception of Windows Defender; includes the Tea Timer of Spybot, AVG AS guard.exe, SpySweeper guards, etc.), disable the third-party firewall AND THEN select Windows Firewall.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) except #4 below until your antivirus application has been reactivated!  If you use a free ZA firewall, you may need to uninstall instead of disable.

2 uninstall 'update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) for Vista (KB976325)' or "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976325)" via start | Control Panel | The Maintenance and the system (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update | Installed updates day & reboot.

    3 d - c #1 above.

4 manually run Windows Update and install important updates available (i.e. KB976325).

5 reboot & make sure everything in #1 above is on again and, if necessary, disable the Windows Firewall and enable (or reinstalling) your third-party firewall.

  • ERROR: 'invalid key for use in determined State' when updating to Lightroom in Win8.1 5.6

While doing an update of Lightroom 5.5 to v5.6 in Win 8.1, installing interrupted at the beginning of the installation with the error message wave "key not valid for use in specified state.  Although v5.5 worked very well, the installation routine removed v5.5 application files.  I restored about to restore previous system (set just prior to installation) and retrieved the executables.  However, now 5.5 files do not open the catalog by default, no backups, or even create a new catalog.

As v5.x bought a v4.x update, I tried to reinstall the soft v4.x Lightroom original disc from the factory.  I get the same error.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you. Dan

Jeff, the cleanup utility did not work. No, I do not use system utilities, at least those who work on their own.

I've restored from a cloned disk and now have v5.6 OK.  My guess is that upgrades just before Microsoft System update of Lightroom could have something to do with it.  See my next post.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Get the 8004FF84 error when you try to download and install an upgrade for Windows

I can't download and install an upgrade for windows. Try to install the product error code 8004FF84.

Installation may stop if the system cannot copy files. Here are some possible causes and solutions for this problem:

Your Windows installation disc is scratched, smudged, or dirty. Clean the disc with a soft cloth, insert it in the CD or DVD drive, and then start the Windows installation again. If your installation disc is damaged, you may need to replace it. For more information, go to how to replace lost, broken, or missing Microsoft software or hardware on the Microsoft Web site.

Your CD-ROM or DVD drive is not working properly or the disk might be vibrating too much for the laser correctly read data. For more information about this problem, see your hardware documentation or contact the manufacturer of the CD or DVD drive.

If your computer has multiple CD or DVD drives, your computer may attempt to locate files on the wrong drive. If your computer has a feature to disable CD or DVD drives that are not used, turn off readers that you don't use. Otherwise, try to insert the disc in a different drive, and then restart the installation.

This is usually caused by hardware or software that is not compatible with Windows 7. If you have this problem, follow these steps:

Wait about 10 minutes to see if the installation continues. Look at the led on the hard drive (often a small light on your computer that blinks when your hard drive is running) to see if there is no activity. If your hard drive seems to be working, the installation must be current. If your hard disk doesn't seem to work, go to step 2.

Uninstall all antivirus software, and then restart your computer. Don't forget to enable antivirus software after you install Windows.

If the installation fails again, it may be a hardware incompatibility problem. Go to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on the Microsoft website to see if your computer can run Windows 7.

If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

If the computer still stops responding during Setup, contact your manufacturer computer or your retailer.

  • Installing SP6/CC - I need technical support in the United States

I've been using the SP6 / CC TEST for a few weeks. I called Adobe sales Friday and the annual subscription of 6/CC PS. Order No. C0128016476. I must have to install so I called the return of aid. I was transferred to another world where they do not speak English. After 2 hours of trying (total frustration!) I don't know if I am still using the TRIAL or the actual subscription. Even today, the notice of TRIAL appears when I open PS6/CC. I want to talk to the United States who can talk to me through this in person with someone technical. Can what American phone number I call for technical assistance to the United States to complete this installation? Please do not send me to another world where they do not speak English!

    Hello Bruce,.

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum

First of all, you will want to check and make sure that you use not any anti-virus program or firewall that will restrict or block traffic that originates from Windows Update.

Also, make sure that the Windows Update Service and all its dependent services are running as well. Do this by clicking on start and typing the word Services in the search box and then click on the result. In Services, find the Windows Update Service and make sure that it is configured to start automatically. You can also double-click the service, and to ensure that all dependent services are running as well. If they don't work at all you can start services manually and then set the properties to start every time Windows starts (automatically).

Have you tried to download updates to http://download.microsoft.com and install them individually? Otherwise, you may try this option and see if it works for you. Judd
