• Install error during update of Lightroom 5.3 5.4 in Windows 7

  I tried several times to install update of Lightroom 5.3 5.4 in Windows 7, but get the error message "this is a problem when extracting the files.  Check the amount of space available on your computer and the rights to write to the destination folder.  In addition, Lightroom 5.4 installer shows 100% complete but at the opening of Lightroom to check, I see that he is still version 5.3.  I rebooted whenever I tried.  There is plenty of room on my hard drive.

  Using a Mac OSX updated 10.9.5, to update to the latest update of Lightroom, now get error - Lightroom met permission issues. Click on fix - cannot fix.   Please make sure that you gave permission for the folders listed in the article, follow these steps.

  1 - give read and write permissions for the Application Support folder and preferably on User Library and the secret library.

  2 - Add user and admin both permissions.

  When you open the Get Info option for specific folder.

  Make sure you click on '+' symbol, it will open the list of user accounts. Add currently logged in user account and Director of user account, if it is not added.

  Both must have read and write to prevent access these some questions in the future.

  Important:

  Once you added as currently logged on user account and administrator user accounts and provided access for reading and writing.

  Make sure you click on the gear icon and select apply to closed.

  Lock dialog box and close the Get Info .

  So that all the folders in the folder Adobe will get read and write access.

  Vk2mh looks that the download was not complete or corrupt.  When you download the update from?  Have you tried to download it again?

  Soyouca how did you install Photoshop Lightroom?  Please uninstall the current installation by using the uninstall program located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

  Once Photoshop Lightroom is deleted please download a new copy of the installation files of Adobe - Lightroom: for Macintosh.  The update contains the full installer then please download the latest version of Photoshop Lightroom 5.

  You may be asked to enter your serial number for Photoshop Lightroom 4.  You can find information on how to locate the serial numbers under your account to find your serial number fast - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  While doing an update of Lightroom 5.5 to v5.6 in Win 8.1, installing interrupted at the beginning of the installation with the error message wave "key not valid for use in specified state.  Although v5.5 worked very well, the installation routine removed v5.5 application files.  I restored about to restore previous system (set just prior to installation) and retrieved the executables.  However, now 5.5 files do not open the catalog by default, no backups, or even create a new catalog.

  As v5.x bought a v4.x update, I tried to reinstall the soft v4.x Lightroom original disc from the factory.  I get the same error.

  Jeff, the cleanup utility did not work. No, I do not use system utilities, at least those who work on their own.

  I've restored from a cloned disk and now have v5.6 OK.  My guess is that upgrades just before Microsoft System update of Lightroom could have something to do with it.  See my next post.

  We have not been able to replicate this, but our theory is that your system is somehow stumbling on a plug-in installation that allows us to validate that you are running an operating system supported. Please try this:

  In the window display of Adobe Lightroom 3. pkg and the Readme file:

  1. drag Adobe Lightroom 3. pkg out of the disk image window, on your desktop

  2. right click on Adobe Lightroom 3. pkg

  3. choose "view the contents of the package.

  4. open the content folder and delete the folder named Plugins

  5. close all the windows that you opened

  6. now double-click this modified version of Adobe Lightroom 3. pkg on your desktop.

  I was finally able to get updated to 6.3 - but not beyond. It appears that v6.4 and especially requires Mac OS X 10.9 and I am always running 10.8.5.

  I, even once, uninstalled Lightroom 6 of my system. I also did a "Safe Boot", i.e. starting with the shift because it removes cache files a lot.

  A Singularity: my Photoshop CS6 (not extended) Standard became a Trial Version of extended after the installation and update of Lightroom. Don't know how it happened but it was easily resolved by restoring my license.
