  Although, in theory, by using sessions not may work for some applications, you will have less sessions unexpected behavior. Any page you visit will result in 10 seconds of additional applications, go to the server. If they are not sticky and bounce between servers, the session will constantly be failed back between the servers. A 'problem' with modern browsers is that they appear simultaneous requests, so you can have the same session failover, at the same time on different servers, that wouldn't be good.

  I'd be curious to know why you choose to have sessions in the first place.

  Nevertheless, it still seems like there is a problem when you have enabled, sessions, so I'll continue to watch it.

  I have two applications A and B which share the same session (because they use the same session cookie), and each has Maximum Session Idle Time has the same value of N. While the call APEX_UTIL with a scope of SESSION would set the time-out for the two applications, we have maintained a timer (FSP_LAST_REQUEST_TIME) for each app working in TIMTEST1 update only the timer to TIMTEST1 and not TIMTEST2. After working with a single application and go back to the other application, Apex sees the stale timer and decides that the session has expired. It is clearly a bug. The bad news is that a backport is not possible, because a lot has changed in the session state management. You already have plans to upgrade to 4.2?
