  • Windows 7 Home Premium cannot be updated (error 80070490)

    Hello

I have a x 64 bit desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

I had a moment to try to solve my problem with Windows Update is not be able to install or to look for new updates for months (ask the error code 80070490) and trying to fix it, have caused more problems that I can't fix.

I have troubleshooted countless times, including the use of update Windows Diagnostic tool (that does not correct the problem of update). I also tried to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium from the disc, I bought, only to be greeted with an error message containing: "your current version of Windows is more recent than the version that you are trying to level to.» Windows is unable to complete the upgrade. »

So, I took a dagger blow to scouring the many issues on the Microsoft Answers community that are similar or identical to the problem I have. Some answers have led me to running the sfc/scannow command and also a command "findstr" who has given me a list of files that sfc/scannow could not fix. Some have been classified as "cannot repair" and some more serious labeled "can not reproject corrupted file. My next solution was that I should try to reinstall it from my Windows 7 disc, but try to solve the "current version" problem that prevented me to reinstall earlier. An answer I found in the Community said that SP1 needs to be uninstalled for the resettlement of work, so I uninstalled SP1 and rebooted my computer. I tried to reinstall from my drive again and was greeted with the same error as before: "your current version of Windows is more recent than the version that you are trying to level to.» Windows is unable to complete the upgrade. »

    Now my problems include:

    • Windows cannot update or check for updates
    • There is I don't know how to fix corrupted files
    • SP1 is no longer on my computer and I can't reinstall it

    Thanks for any help. !

I tried to reinstall the program with the DVD to repair damaged files, but my DVD has SP1 while the computer already has SP2, so it will not upgrade the DVD. The only option is to 'clean up' the installation or an upgrade higher.

  • Get Windows Update, error: 80070490.

Original title: Get Windows Update errors

    I have a Samsung NP350V5C-S09AU.

I did a restore (full reset/factory setting) due to a previous issue in which I can not enter safe mode and start windows because of the failure in updating graphics driver (managed to do a complete reset via advanced startup).

After the restoration of the system, I used SW Update to download the drivers first then checked and installed the windows updates. I ignored the prompt to reboot the PC SW update because I waited for the restart of the PC of Windows Update service prompt (that's what I before I did a restore and even managed to safely update to windows 8.1).

After the reboot, it doesn't seem to be anything wrong (showed the usual for update and other progression). Then I reopened it SW Update again to search for any other driver updates, met a little a problem to update driver Bluetooth but has managed to install it successfully. However it does not appear to update to 2.0.0.7x 2.0.0.38 'settings', then I felt that I should just give 2.0.0.38 until I have install more updates to the window.

Before you install any other updates, I checked windows update history and find facilities failed (error 80070490); I went and did a few things such as troubleshooting and SFC scans via admin cmd.

Troubleshoot has trained and found "Windows Update components must be repaired" and "Find files missing or corrupted", both correction has been marked as fixed (auto-fix option). I ran out again to double check if it has been set, but even after several times, it shows the same results of these two issues have been found, but attaches.

SFC scans by admin cmd has led, in a first step, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and managed to repair their." Details are provided in convertible bonds. Newspaper %WinDir% \Logs\CBS\CBS.log. ». I used troubleshoot and always found the same errors as above and ran Scan SFC, where this time it gave rise to ""Windows Resource Protection did not find any breach of integrity. "."

How to deal with these issues because I intended to install the last update immediately and upgrade to windows 8.1 like last time. These questions/problem makes me doubt made more updates up to now since it's the first time I get / these errors/problems.

    What are my options?

You could try the System File Checker.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/ASKCORE/archive/2007/12/18/using-System-File-Checker-SFC-to-fix-issues.aspx

No warranty, you will still need to do a reinstall.

  • problem kb2676562 error 80070490 Windows update/windows update

    Separated from the following thread:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-windows_update/Windows-Update-problem-kb2676562-error-80070490/dfa5f841-ca88-43b0-9a5c-d1ff51e95da7

I also tried MicrosoftFixit.wu.LB.80260702468354679.3.1.Run.exe without success and later FixitCenter_Run.exe without success.

I have not yet tried the reload Windows VISTA (32 bit) and then all the updates.  This seems very laborious and likely to cause additional problems of MS software on my Dell Inspiron E1505, which has often had problems digesting the MS updates despite replacing full of the motherboard, power supply, keyboard and multiple HDs.  I also hesitate to do so simply to properly install this subroutine "stop bits", as my ISP provides security in addition to the Security installed on my PC suite.

It of funny to me that I serve on 31 computers Windows update since 1998 and never had the first problem with Windows update, and yet I see many posts like yours here all the time. Did you accidentally made changes to the registry, or run Registry cleaners? I wish I knew this better, but anyhoo here are things that you can check.

First visit the MS website for this problem to
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818018/en-us .  This will allow you to run Fixit and give you information about other points to check.

    Other things to check.
. Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.
    -
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • 0x800F0900 CBS MUM corrupt

I ran the update tool recent system with error show above in the respct of:

    CBS MUM corrupt 0x800F0900 servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-DGT-Package-MiniLP~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~7.0.6002.18107.mum

I reinstalled the latest version of the Windows Update software but still get the same error message.

Where can I find a version uncorrupted package above?

Problem is that I can't find the ~\f9ac8f2cdcab7f6e257f229e001530d5\~ directory in this location.  Ideas here or the other?

The subfolders in this location are driven out of the system after a period of time so do not accumulate unnecessary 'stuff '.
The reference in the registry made reference to the location that the update has been installed since , not of .

What you need to do after the first backup of this registry key :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component based Servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-DGT-Package-MiniLP~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~7.0.6002.18107
is to remove all the keys that begin with Microsoft-Windows-DGT-Package-MiniLP~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~7.0.6002.18107
and then hope that Windows Update detects that the update is necessary.

As for the 2 updates... This article explains and at the same time, gives me a headache:
Description of the update for Windows Server 2008 platform and Platform for Windows Vista update

Feel free to read that I have, frankly, do not have the time to read right now.
I see no reference to which files are installed as well, I can't do no link to the missing/corrupted .mum file,
    Microsoft-Windows-DGT-Package-MiniLP~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~7.0.6002.18107.mum
In fact, a Google search with the foregoing leads only to your post about it, which is a little strange.

  • Is no longer, I can download and install the updates for Vista SP2. I get error 80070490

Original title: Windows of Vista SP2 update fails.  Vista Upgrade option grayed out

Is no longer, I can download and install the updates for Vista SP2.  I get error 80070490, who reports that Vista Service Pack 1 is no longer up-to-date.  I downloaded and installed the "System Update Readiness Tool" without change in error.  Repair Vista with DVD does not give me the upgrade option.  My SP-2 is corrupt?  Vista Service Pack 2 also went out of support?

    Kind regards

    Ed S.

    Hello

    Method 1:

Follow the steps in troubleshooting section and check if that helps.

You receive an error code "0 x 80070490" when you use Microsoft Update or Windows Update Web sites to install updates
