  I would check to see if you have a Trojan or a virus on your system.  He saw several cases with that error and it has been resolved by removing the Trojan horse and reboot your system. Once the Trojan horse has been removed, they were able to install from Windows Update again. It seems possible that your Windows installation has been damaged deliberately by a Trojan horse to avoid you update your system or remove the Trojan horse.   I get code 80244019 whenever I try to use Windows Update. I tried to change the DWORD in regedit nothing helps... Norton has recently found and 'resolved' trojan.zlob in 128 files in the registry, 21 cases (10 of which were in system32) and 1 browser cache.   You have an antivirus with a buit in the firewall, try disabling the firewall which can be installed on your computer, and then try to update again.
  Also, try to go in Internet Exlorer

  On the toolbar, click Tools,
  Then Internet Options
  Go to the connections tab
  Click Lan settings.
  And check automatically detect SETTINGS.
  OK, then OK again.

• Windows can't check for updates 80244019 error code.

  I have a problem, the system is vista home basic. Windows can't check for updates 80244019 error code. I have read many of the forms and ran from bugs that I found from microsoft. Further investigation indicates the RPC and DCOM service Launcher are grayed out and cannot be started or stoped.   Registry settings look good for the RPC service.  The DCOM service depends on RPC service.  In the GUI at the same time say they are started but from the comand prompt, I run the command net start and neither one is registered as running.  Any help would be appreciated.

  This computer is configured with the same settings as you describe. The last update here was KB3097877 November 12, 2015.  You can get an update earlier but I don't anticipate new updates until 8 December 2015.

  Looks like you need to get a new copy with integrated Service Pack 1.
