  • Satellite L500 - ERROR = copy of splitpart or Canadian Red Cross failed!

Well, I tried to reinstall vista with the cd/dvd recovery I ordered. I tried both versions 32 and 64 bits on disk, but as soon as it reaches a certain point on disc2 (copy some .swm files 7/9), the error "copy of splitpart or Canadian Red Cross failed!" appears.
I googled on the CRC errors, but I think I can exclude most of these things such as cable, the scratches on the disc, a.s.o. loose connections unless it has something related to the hard drive... but I could install non - oem vista without any probs, not sure if it's really hard partner.
I hope someone can help me here.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From your problem description, I understand that you are unable to transfer files from an external drive on another drive. Please let me know if this isn't the problem that you are experiencing.

Before troubleshooting, I have little information on the issue.

    1. Do you receive any error or display message?
    2. Did you recent hardware or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?

Try the methods and then check after each method:

Method 1: Transfer files from a drive to the location on the desktop or a temporary folder and then try to transfer them to the destination disk.

Note: make sure the free space on the disk in the destination drive.

    Method 2: Run the Fixit:

Method 3: Disconnect your player safely, and restart the computer. And then try to transfer the files.

  • Error copying file or folder

    Hello

I tried to copy and open an Excel file from a floppy disk 3,5 '' diskette in Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.
I get the following error message: "error copying file or folder: can not copy the MEASUREMENTS: cannot read the source file or disk.»

What is the problem with this Excel file? This file is corrupt?

A lot of help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Sincerely,
    Egan

Yes, the file is probably corrupted. Diskettes - now an obsolete middle - are fragile and often unusable. You can try the disk in the computer of a friend to see if it is readable. If this is the case, copy the file on hard drive of the friend and from there to a USB key. If the disk is not readable in the friend's computer, throw it away. • Error copying file or folder: cannot read the source file or disk.

My problem occurs when you try to copy on the same computer I am on (or to a remote drive).  I get one of these messages in the dialog "error copying file or folder.

    box:

Impossible to copy 'Filename': data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Impossible to copy 'Filename': cannot read the source file or disk.

    Hey Norton victim,

    (a) what is your operating system?
    (b) what program file you are not able to copy?

As the files are copied, Windows verifies that the data that has been copied are the same as the source files. The cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error occurs when the copied data does not match the original.

This could be down to a mistake of the DVD, the disc goes wrong and has failed to 'read' the file properly or the file was placed on a bad sector on your hard drive. (Could be just down to a scratch or some marks on the dvd, maybe clean it if necessary and try again).

I would run a check disk (CHKDSK) against the drive to rule that, although lacking - you have another dvd player to try the disc again? If so, try the dvd in another drive, or even a completely different machine to try to pin-point the problem.

At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    Chkdsk /r

Note: If bad sectors are detected when running check disk utility and attempt recovery of bad sectors is verified during the verification of the drive for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors.

  • Why can't I managed to install the iso file in my USB? I've tried different usb and hard drives and disassembled a lot or time usb but when, it comes up with an error copying the files on and it stops loading? What should I do?

Why am I unable to download and copy iso files that need to go into the USB drive, it always comes up with an error when copying the installation files and none of the solutions have worked (some of the things I've tried are different from the USB, disassemble and repeat the download process windows files)

You cannot use a simple USB as a source and destination. You must copy the ISO file (it's a single file, not the full installer) in your Documents folder and then run BCA to create a USB installation program. 2015 macs do not create a USB installation program.

There are two approaches you can take.

One solution: you can copy files into smaller "chunks" until you identify the file that causes the error, and then try to find out what is the problem with this file.

Another solution is to download the program "Robust copy" (Robocopy) to Microsoft and it allows to copy your files.  You download and install in the Windows 2003 Resource Kit (works fine on XP).

    Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit:

Once installed, you can open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    Robocopy "C:\photos" 'E:\photos' /R:5 / s
Where "C:\photos" will be replaced by the source directory, and the 'E:\photos' is the destination directory.  the "/ S" option will copy the subdirectories and the R:5 option retries 5 times on error before moving on to the next file.  Errors should be displayed on the screen and I found errors of command line to be more descriptive than GUI errors.  There are a lot more options, but this should help you get started.

  • Error copy downloading Wnidows XP Service Pack 3

Whenever I try to download xp service Pack 3, I get an error of copy compared to a file called "beethov9.wma". It says "cannot copy file in the destination directory. Click Retry to try again, or click Cancel to cancel. I click try again, I get the same error. I cancel it and have asked "do you want to continue together to the top, without copying the file. I click Yes and the installation stops and says "set up cannot copy the file beethov9.wma." Any help or advice would be very appreciated that I need to download the sp3 because my PC has problems whenever I turn it on. Is one of the drives to FAT32 and the other (the source drive) to NTFS?  If yes you can not copy the 8 GB one NTFS to FAT32 drive as FAT32 drives can only contain files of 4 GB maximum size.  (Several delivered external drives are shipped as FAT32 drives.

To discover the method format of a departure by car computer and then make a right click on the drive letter, click Properties and the result will give the formatting the drive.

If FAT32 and you want to create as a NTFS, you can do a conversion.

Click Start and in the area run or search, type CMD and click OK.
In the black box that opens type "CONVERT x: FS:NTFS" and press ENTER.  (x: is the letter to an external drive)

Once it has been converted to NTFS, you should be able to copy your files.
