  Trying to install a new driver for a USB adapter wireless from a CD, the installation program stops with a message "feature transfer error:-1612 the installation source for this product is not available."   I finally got the installer to work. It was a relocation of an already corrupt driver. I made a backup of the complete registry and then used regedit to find and remove all the references I found to the previous file. I rebooted and ran the installer, and it worked.

  Your version of WIndows 7 Home Premium SP1 should include the media player. This link includes download of Windows Media Player 12.

  Thanks for posting. The XP CD that the system is referring to is your XP (maybe not the reinstallation CD) installation CD.  I would test of the first reinstallation CD to see if it has components which seeks the system. If it isn't you need to contact your manufacturer and get a CD of the OS on their part.

• Error receipt-1639, I installed a program and a box popped up saying that I had a feature transfer error

  Specifically it read: error-1639 invalid command line argument. See the windows SDK install using the detailed command line. It was a box with a button that says ok. Then, installation was stopped and won't go further. Does anyone have an idea of what I can I would be grateful for the help, thank you.

  1 did you change on your computer before this problem?

  You can try the following and see if it helps.

  Method 1

  I suggest you unregister and re-register Windows install and check if that helps.

  un) Click Start and the run.

  b) In the Run box type msiexec /unreg then ENTER.

  (c) click Start and the run.

  (d) in the run box type msiexec/regserver , then ENTER.

  Method 2

  un) Click start.

  b) in the search box type services.msc.

  c) locate Windows Installer.

  d) right click on it and go to Properties.

  e) in the Startup type , click the menu drop down and set as automatic.

  f) click apply and OK.

  (g) restart your computer.

  Method 3

  You can run the System File Checker to repair the corrupted system files.

Firefox just wants to confirm that you HAVE asked to install the add-on, not a malicious Web site. So, if you want to install the add-on, go ahead and click on "install now". It is just a feature of security built into firefox and has nothing to do with the add-on. If you are sure to continue.

  Also, suggest that you include information about the level of Service Pack of XP, what security/antivirus suite is installed, and if a 3rd party firewall is used.

  Thanks for your suggestion of Gordon. I must confess that I did not. (If I don't check the 'Resolved'.) However, for the record, I will describe my workaround solution.

  My goal was to scan photos. To do this, I need the HP, but not all of the characteristics recommended solution Center.

  So I tried to install the HP Solution Center. Ugh! It says it's over, but when I tried to run, he says that the installation was not complete. I found a solution on the Forum who basically said to uninstall the printer, carefully clean and reinstall. (More details in this response from forum). Unfortunately, it did not for me either.

  Which does not finally was to install Imaging as well as of the solution Center. (And I did everything that uninstall and cleanup still too). I suspect that Solution Center has a dependency on the imagery, but this is just speculation.

  Even if I did not follow your advice, thanks again for your suggestion. I tried your recommendation then even if I hated the thought of reinstalling all my other software.
