Error message "an error has occurred when attempting to change modules.
I received the error message, and it does not use Lightroom 3.3.
I am unsure as to the cause. I even deleted and reinstalled the software and the 3.3 updated, but in vain.
I use a MAC Pro Tower and also have CS5 Extended (12.0.2 X 64) and Adobe Bridge (4.0.4.2).
I finally got around to set up the suite and CS5 extended and bridge were not a problem. When I launched Lightroom 3.3 is when I received the error message. I tried to run Lightroom in itself and still have the error message. I stopped and restarted my computer and launched Lightroom separately and received the error message. I deleted the Lightroom software, stop and reinstalled and launched by itself and still have the error message.
The key is that I can't access preferences to set up Lightroom.
Someone else has this problem?
Needless to say that any suggestions or direction is appreciated.
Thank you
If you did rename the file "com.adobe.Lightroom3.plist" to something else, so LR would not recognize it?
If this does not help, try to move your entire preset file
"Macintosh HD/Users / [username] / Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom / '.
somewhere else (or ZIP and delete) when LR is closed. Then restart LR.
If she did not help, you can move the folder back to its original location.
The catalog is a file called *.lrcat (as LRCAT), that you can double-click to open it with LR. The default location for it in LR3 is
"Macintosh HD/Users / [username] / pictures/Lightroom/Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 3.

Had problems on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 with Lightroom CC 2015.2 suspended several times so followed the advice on the forums:
- uncheck "Show"Add Photos"screen" "
After awhile the same day LR would always hang and now totally crash at startup with no error messages or anything like that. Tracking guides:
-Sign out, then back in CC
-Deleted preferences of Lightroom with Option + shift while clicking on the application icon
-Preferences from LR deleted via Finder
Has not set, LR has not yet started. Decided to downgrade following guide how roll back to Lightroom 6.1.1 or CC 2015.1 | Lightroom training Laura shoe, tutorials and tips from:
-Uninstalled CC 2015.2
-Reinstalled old CC 2015
Does not solve the problem. Lightroom said: "an error occurred when attempting to change modules." and the catalogue has not loaded. Then followed guides:
-Creation of a new user account and trying to open Lightroom it
Does not work, did not start there either, same error message. Decided to try to uninstall and reinstall the old CC 2015 once again, this time turn off the computer laptop inbetween:
-Uninstalled old CC 2015
-Disconnect from CC
-Restarted MacBook Pro
-Connect to CC
-Installed new old CC 2015
Always the same error message "an error has occurred when attempting to change modules." and can not use LR. Following following guide https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/unable-launch-lightroom-55.html:
-Disconnect from CC
-Rename the files SLCache > SLCacheold and SLStore > SLStoreold
-Open LR and connected to CC
Always the same error message "an error has occurred when attempting to change modules." and cannot do anything with LR.
Now I don't know what to do anymore. Help, please.

6.6 Lightroom, that an error has occurred when attempting to change modules
Whenever catalogs of switching or create a new catalog in Lightroom 6.6 I get the error 'an error occurred when attempting to change modules' bit followed by a crash of Lightroom. I followed all the steps in the troubleshooting guide for errors that can occur when you change the modules in Lightroom repeatedly, wiping out all my settings and the catalogs and re - download Lightroom from Adobe web site and put it back, all to nothing does not, the problem persists.
When reinstalling, I noticed that Lightroom 6.0 doesn't have this problem for me. However, once upgraded to 6.6, it presents this crash. On a lark, I tried upgrading 6.0 only to 6.5.1 - it works and allows me to create new catalogs without crashing. So, it seems that any accident that happens here recently got introduced to 6.6.
I use a 2010 Mac Pro running MacOS 10.11.5.
Are there solutions to this crash to 6.6?

Mac 10.11.1, standalone version. Was fine until 6.3, from 6.3 update every time I try to open Lightroom it is enough to display this dialog box and cannot do anything.
Attempted to delete ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom, ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom6.plist and the catalog file, none worked.
I want to try and reinstall Lightroom, but I'm on the stand-alone version and I have absolutely no idea how get download the standalone version.
And this article is autonomous and CC,

I have a new MacMini (2 months) with OSX 10.8.2 and 16 GB of ram. I had a partial re - installed, bringing more of my settings from my old computer (a MacBook Pro, 10.8.2)
4.3 Lightroom worked very well until I went to use the slideshow module. I received an error message and the library module does not open. Read the message "an error has occurred when attempting to change modules.
What can I do to fix this?
Here's what I've done so far:
- checekd the disk permissions and disk status - all ok
- check the integrity of my catalogs and saved them - all ok
- moved files preferably, ending with 'plist' from the root and user libraries - no change
- only moved to the folder of the user, to support / library/application - no change
- Checked and opened upward "privileges" on the files for the library files and the catalog files. Checked 'apply to all files' - no change
- contacted one and Nik to see if they had heard of this problem - no, they didn't and don't think their programs could be the cause of this problem
- Contact Adobe - level 1 support - crossed some of the points above - no effect
I am waiting for a call from level 2 return to Adobe. In the meantime, one has this problem or have any other suggestions. The only alternative I have is to completely uninstall Lr and start again. But it's a bit drastic.
Thank you
This is a bug, usually related to having a second monitor attached.
Roll to 4.2 from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5487 - simply drag 4.3 to the trash, and run this installer.

How can I fix message error "an error occurred when attempting to change modules" on a Mac?
Just installed Lightroom 5. error message 'an error has occurred when attempting to change modules' how can I fix it?
It is ideal to have all permissions to the Adobe under the user's library folder, not only to do this, to avoid issues are of course the Adobe folder has read and write access to currently registered in the user account and administrator:
Follow the procedure below:
Step 1:
(1) right-click on the icon in the Finder, then select 'Go - To' folder.
(2) you will get a text box, type in the following command, and then press the 'Return'. () Do not miss ~ symbol)~/Library
(3) then navigate to Application Support > Adobe
.
Right-click on the Adobe folder and select ""GetInfo ' option. "
Expand the sharing & permissions section.
Click on the padlock icon in the lower corner on the right. Enter your administrator user name and password when you are prompted, and then click OK.
Please click on '+' symbol, it will open the list of user accounts. Add currently logged in username and administrator option,
Then indicate ""& read/write " permission currently logged in username and Administrator option."
Click the gear icon and select apply to closed. Close the dialog box information .
Then launch Lightroom application and check.

I am running Yosemite (OS 10.10.5). Trying to open 6 LR, I get two error messages. (1) an internal error has occurred. Could not create the required folder: / Users/username/Library/Application Support / Adobe / Lightroom / develop Presets. (2) an error occurred when attempting to change modules.
When I tried LR 5 running on the previous system, I got the same error module changing, but cannot find anything on the Adobe site and thought that maybe the program was not compatible with the system. But here again the same problem. I really want to stop using the old computer with LR 3 and use the updates, I bought.
Hi Benjamin,
You must change the permissions of the folder Adobe in two libraries.
Browse to the location: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
/ Library/Application Support/Adobe
CMD + click on the Adobe folder
Click on Get Info
Click the Permission & sharing
Click on the padlock
Unlock it
Change the permissions of writing & for all users.

Lightroom: "an error occurred when attempting to change modules."
I am a user of Lightroom (via the Cloud) first time (used Capture One before that) and just downloaded today. The first thing I saw was this error message
"An error occurred when attempting to change modules."
I've updated 4.3 and I tried all the other recommendations, I found here:
http://helpx.Adobe.com/Lightroom/KB/error-changing-modules-Lightroom.html
I don't know what are the products of Nik but I don't think I have.
I'm on a Mac 10.6.8
Deleted this file, preferably, I found here:
http://helpx.Adobe.com/Lightroom/KB/preference-file-locations-Lightroom-4.html
So frustrating! Please, can someone help me?
There was an old Installer bug which could be related. If it works in own account, copy the files back may work.
Save your copies of the following files/folders from your user account and then copy backup versions of the proprietary.
Macintosh HD / users / [username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Lightroom /.
Macintosh HD / users / [username] / Library / Preferences / com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist

An error occurred when attempting to change modules. 5.2 on Mac Lightroom
5.2 Lightroom on a Mac... keeps saying "an error occurred when attempting to change modules.
Pilot78 I have a solution for you!
Go to the following folder: /Users/ [user name] / Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom
Then press control, click the lock icon, go to permissions, do read and write access to all.
For me, which did the trick. Stupid that Adobe didn't help me on the phone with this, the support rep was actually rather rough.
Hope this helps
