ERROR: this version of esx requires a processor capable of 64-bit operation

Kindly help to provide entries:

I have a DELL Optiplex 760 that supports VT that is enabled.

I tried to install directly ESX 4.0 and has been able to do successfully.

However, I have tried to format and installed Windows 7 and then installed VM Workstation 7.

When I tried to create a virtual machine (ESX), it gives me an error "this version of esx requires a 64-bit capable processor."

Any advise?

ESX 4 requires no VT she requires only a 64-bit processor.  Your physical processor is sufficient.  (Note, however, that you would be able to run the 32-bit clients.)

Workstation 7 requires however VT virtualization features 64-bit processor.  Since you don't have VT, the virtual processor in Workstation 7 is a 32-bit processor.
