Error while trying to upgrade to Vista SP1

Well, I know this is an old topic with lots of KB articles, but I couldn't find anything to get my installation to work. For some reason any automatic updates offered never upgrade when it is released - this may have been due to my Dell audio player that I've changed since. I have downloaded the manual installation of Microsoft version and ran the installation. The green bar got all the way to the end before crashing with an internal error.

Most of the articles suggest that I have download the update tool system which I did and also ran. He got about 75% of the green progress bar and then stopped. This has happened a couple of times and now it won't even start running. The window appears but the progress bar does not start moving.

I really don't want to have to do a clean install and lose all my files. I'm sure there must be a way to solve this problem, but everything I tried (including ongoing execution using a boot Installer Clean and a safe Startup Mode) have not worked. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you
Chris

Hi Chris,

1. you receive all of the error codes or error messages?

Method 1:

Since theSystem than update preparation tool also fails to install, you can read the following article and try to reset the Windows Update components and check.

Method 2:

You can also try running a SFC scan to check all corrupted files.

You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:

    Hi Özcan,

This problem could occur due to these reasons.

    1. Damaged the Windows Cache store.
    2. Conflict between third-party applications.

Have you installed a third-party security software on your computer?

    • Make sure that you have installed the KB2871389 update. Alternatively, you can install all Windows Update available including optional updates.
    • Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse and check the issue.

    Follow the method mentioned below:

    Method 1:

If you have installed a third-party security software, I suggest you to disable them temporarily.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

That run Windows update convenience store which will automatically fix some common problems with Windows Update.

    a. press Windows + W on the keyboard.

    b. type Troubleshooting in the "search" tab and press enter.

    c. click show all on the left panel.

    d. click on Windows Update, will new popup window.

    e. follow the instructions on the screen.

    Method 3:
I suggest you to clear the cache to store and check.

    a. press on the key Windows + R.

    b. type wsreset.exe , and then click OK.

    Method 4:
If the problem persists, I you suggest to start the computer in a clean boot and then try to install Windows 8.1 and check if the problem persists. Clean boot process will help you determine which third party/PPP program that causes this problem.

  • Tecra M7: Upgrading to Vista SP1 of XP - what drivers/utilities to use?

I'm installing from a DVD of MS Vista with SP1 included. Then, direct upgrade to Vista SP1. Vista is in and everything seems to work fine, except the screen rotation and probably a few specific applications, I've not yet tried.

Toshiba offers a set of drivers and utilities for upgrades from Vista. Some of them are for 2006 and 2007.

I think that if everything works well, why rock the boat?

    Hello

    > I think if everything works well, why rock the boat?
I agree with you that I would install only the drivers that are really needed.

    In my opinion, you need:
    Display driver
    Flash Media Driver
    Audio driver
    Touch Pad Driver
    Value Added Package
    LAN and WLan driver

In my opinion, these applications are recommended
Other software like driver Config Free, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Software, etc. are not neccessry for me because I don't use it every day or every time

    Hello

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

  • Why I get this error message: error while trying to synchronize audio and midi?

I just updated Logic Pro and all of a sudden my lexicon alpha interface does not work correctly.  I get this error message: error while trying to synchronize audio and midi. Check for conflicts between Logic Pro and the external device. Help

Start by making sure that the project in logic settings are set correctly - I think that the lexicon only supports 44.1 or 48.

If it is software used to Setup place the lexicon make sure you that the sampling frequency is set to the same logic.

Sometimes that power and the lexicon solves the problem...

If none of the help above - make sure you use a multi-out or comprehensive audio device (OS X)

It's the performance of FreeBSD. The server has no harm actually run but gets big enough and I would like to clean it up a bit. Any suggestions?

Firstly it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway...  Always back up all of the Virtual Machine with the Virtual Machine within the OS, not suspended, and Fusion to stop closed before trying to make repairs on a virtual hard disk.

This may not work if it's the basic disk that needs to be repaired and the Virtual Machine has snapshots, but I go through it.  You can try to use "/ Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/vmware-vdiskmanager ' with the '-r' option.  Note: If the basic disk do not while snapshots are at stake, because it will cause more problems so my suggestion is first try to create a new basic without snapshots disk using the information below (see another option).

Also one of the reasons to delete a snapshot may fail if there is no adequate free disk space for the operation ends so make sure you have a lot of free disk space.

Another option would be to create a new basic disk, and then use dd by using an Image of CD/DVD/ISO Linux Live in the image of the old drive so written delta in snapshots to a new basic disk.

I like to use the ISO Image of KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD - 2007-01-04 - IN .iso to start the Virtual Machine and use dd to leave because it works well with VMware SCSI virtual hard disks.

Also in Fusion 2.x, configuration the target Virtual Machine's .vmx file must be changed manually to have the present following parameters when using Knoppix.

    usb:0.deviceType = "mouse"
    usb:0.present = "FALSE"
    mouse.vusb.enable = "FALSE"

Note: The first two parameters may already exist but if the other exists and is set to true, then set it to FALSE and the third are probably already so just add it.
