Essbase in the planning database

Hello
Our customer wants to use the Essbase9.3.1 database in planning 9.3.1.
Is it possible to use that one, no third-party tool is useful for her.
Need a clarification about this how can we reach...
Any help on this appreciated...

I think what you're asking, is if you have an existing installation of Essbase database is possible to convert this database into a planning system?

It is not quite as simple as that. You can extract the members/dimensions of an Essbase database and load the files to use with the architect of the EMP, Hyperion Application Link, or Oracle Data Integrator - that alone is not necessarily the best design for a planning system. For example, your design may require another dimension not in the original system.

You should also design forms, business rules, etc.

I suggest you look at bringing on a person to the project team that has implemented a planning system in the past.

Kind regards

-John

  • Typed of Hyperion Essbase for the planning of measures

    Hello

We use Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3. I wonder if if I put the essbase outline to use measurements typed, it will works with Hyperion Planning Smartlist.
We have a requirement that our users want reports some members of accounts using smartlist. However, if they use
Essbase recover or smartview, it arrive at a value, for example 1.2 instead of text, for example "approved", "rejected".
How can I run a recovery to produce a report of Hyperion Planning that have value to one other than its Hyperion report use smartlist?

    Thank you

    Lian

Typed Essbase measures are separated from planning at the moment, I wouldn't recommend changing the properties in the outline.

  • Essbase in the planning of Migration [rules]

I have quite a few business rules in the EE 11.1.1.3.00 and just recently upgraded to the 11.1.2.4.00 planning.

Is there a tool that we can use to migrate the business rule of EAS to Planning Manager Calc or do we manually copy/paste them?

Take a look at the export of the rules of business, Macros, Variables, sequences, and projects

When you get to 6 it should make sense.

  • It is advisable to manage the Planning of Essbase studio?

    Hello

It is advisable to manage the Planning, Essbase studio or planning 11.1.2.4 web UI?

Now that planning and workspace 11.1.2.4 has the ability to manage and administer the planning, is there a reason to use Essbase Studio?

I guess some may use Essbase Studio to extract of the report, but is - it useful for something else? Thank you.

You would use Essbase Studio to manage the planning, it really has nothing to do with the planning and studio for pure Essbase databases.

If you want to extract in planning, perhaps you should look at FDMEE

  • Database and data source in the planning application

    Hi the Hyperion gods.
In the process of creating, planning an application and create the data source, I'm a bit confused.
Creating data source, it must give a name for the DATA SOURCE and a DESCRIPTION, and under the APPLICATION of DATA base, we need to specify things such as - platform DATABASE, SERVERNAME, PORT, database, USER and PASSWORD.
I was wondering if someone could give me a good idea about the difference between the DATA source and DATABASE in this context.
Since I am migrating the entire application and the structure of the cube from one server to another, do I need to appoint exactly the same (except for the name of the server)?
    Thanks for your comments.

a data source is just a name for your connection information to the relational database and essbase who will use your planning application, I usually keep the data source name that is identical to the name of the application so do not become confused.
Database platform is the type of database, for example, Oracle, SQL Server, the server name is the hostname for the relational database, data is the name of the relational database, I think the rest should be pretty obvious, but if you want more detailed information have a read of http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin_11122/app_dsc.html

You simply can't compare costs like that. It does not work like that. Especially through two different systems.  Here is a very good read: column the COST of the PLAN to EXPLAIN. Oracle FAQ

  • Planning by connecting two different vesion of the oracle database

    Hi friends,

I'm an Oracle application technical developer. I know to plan for concurrent programs in EBS. But my current project needs a migration of the EBS from another version of database data. Our Production database is oracle 9i (EBS). We are doing a project on a BI tool. Tool BI must advanced version 11g (just 11 g db, no EBS). Now my work moves some of the inventory and sales details for the 11g from 9i. I'm running a query of 9i, export the data set such as file delimited by file and using sql loader to load the data into your table looks 11 g. This process takes a lot of time like 4-5 hours daily.

Y at - it an idea that I can do the automation or the planning of the above process. I checked all planning forums. Most of them face the automation with the same database. Please help me in suggesting an idea

    Thank you
    Vimal...

First thought is that you should get at least to the patch terminal which is 9.2.0.8.

But to answer your own question... Why write to a file? Create a database connection and select in the stand-alone database.

If you had a version that is fully supported in the database, I would recommend replication with the watercourse or of change data Capture.

Other alternatives such as external tables, too, are not available to you that you are working with an antique. An upgrade to 11g is really appropriate for this and many other reasons.

  • Generation to EXPLAIN the PLAN on a database that is open in READ ONLY mode

    Hello

I use the Oracle 10.2.0.3 version.

If my database is opened in READ ONLY mode, means that no insert/update/delete operations are allowed here.

During the generation of the PLAN to EXPLAIN this, the PLAN_TABLE registrations for any SQL. But my database is opened in READ ONLY mode, means that no inserts can happen.

So, how can I generate EXPLAIN PLAN for my SQL in this State?

    Thanks in advance.

You can always do: 'explain the plan in some_table@remote_database' to avoid inclusion in the local database. Unfortunately 10g added an extraction of the sequence of the code "explain plan", and that's where the call fails if you have tried this distant approach on your version.

Here's an idea that I have not tested. If you configure a link of data to your database from production to the database read-only, you could then do a "explain plan" in the database of production for the SQL statement by changing each object reference in the SQL statement to "object@readonlydatabase". In most cases this will allow the optimizer to recognize the statement as "entirely to distance" and get the optimizer on the readonly database to create the execution plan - which will be then written into the production database.

    Hi Thr,

The new user you created must have at least the following previllages:
    (1) the role: Connect and Resource
    (2) system Previlage: create Session and Create View

You CAN create a space taable seprate and temporary table for users of Hyperion.
in the tab Quotas set quotas for the newly created user.
    or you can use:
    ALTER USER HYPUSER QUOTA UNLIMITED ON HYPERION;

where HYPUSER is the username, and HYPERION is the table space.

  • Is it possible to display the notes database with Smart View Essbase cubes?

    Hi again all,

I have another question that I was hoping you bunch of gurus might be able to help with.

Like you all most probably know, it is possible to update the information on the database for an Essbase cube (that is to say, to hold relevant information like when a cube was last rebuilt or recalculated, etc.) so that to view the notes in question databases when you connect and seleting a cube Essbase using the Essbase snap.

So, my question is I would like to know if Smart View is equivalent functionality to be able to read the notes of an Essbase cube database.

I searched using smart view but could not find something in this direction but thought someone here might know whether it is possible to do something like that.

    Thanks in advance.

    JBM

Unless it is in 11.1.2 (will watch these daily Readme files now), this feature is not in SmartView.

I know you can hit him just behind the classic login window.

I don't think this is addressable through the Spreadsheet tool box, although the old VB API has a function EsbGetDatabaseNote.

  • Planning Workflow - metadata in the relational database

    Hello

In the metadata in the relational database, there is only an ID for almost every column. I would like to have names for these IDs so I can understand more clearly what is happening. Mainly concerning the workflow, I like to check in the database, what happens.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Most of the IDS will link to the table of hsp_object

So an example of discovering the name for the first two columns (plan_unit_id and scenario_id) in the hsp_planning_unit table

Select puobj.object_name as 'PlaningUnitName', scenobj.object_name as 'Scénario' of
    pu plansamp.hsp_planning_unit, plansamp.hsp_object puobj, plansamp.hsp_object scenobj
    where pu.plan_unit_id = puobj.object_id
    and pu.scenario_id = scenobj.object_id

You can extend it to include other columns such as version, entity...

additional columns that don't point to hsp_object are

    last_column colum = 0 = promote; 1 = rejection; 2 = approve; 3 = approval; 4 = start; 5 = exclude
    process_state = 0 is not started.; 1 = first pass; 2 = under review; 3 = approved; 4 = closed; 5 = unsigned out

    Ok?

  • E.M.P. 11.1.2.1 repointing to the new database

    Hi all;

    Need of your advice here;

I had a requirement for re-pointer the EPM environment to the other (new) database. I just want to share my point of view how this can be done please correct me if I'm wrong.

    (1) the relational database of the former backup

    (2) backup the \Oracle\Middleware\ file of all servers in the EMP

    (3) the registry backup

    4) clone or COPY all schemas (HFM, planning, Essbase, FDM.. etc) to the database

    Then

    (4) remove the respective environmental USER_PROJECTS folders

    5) RUN the CONFIGURATION TOOL and then provide the NEW database server and port details. Update the TNSNAMES.ora file with the new database.

    (6) repeat step 5 for all other components

    OR

Is there a way we can change the PROPERTIES file with the Reconfiguration pointing to the new database of execution? Please notify.

    Thank you

    UB.

Yes you must reconfigure on these servers, but it is only shared services registry which needs configuration to point to the new database, Essbase uses the information updated in reg.properties.

    Try it and see.

  • Cannot create or delete applications Essbase with the Admin user.

    Hello

I'm running Essbase in version 11.1.2.3.505. For some reason, I can't create or delete applications in Essbase using the native admin account. I suspect it may be due to the fact that I wore recently users another environment via LCM HSS & that the roles were somewhat detached/altered in the HSS database. I checked that the commissioning for the admin user has full administrator for the Cluster Essbase HSS rights. The ID works very well elsewhere in the suite of the EMP, workspace, planning, etc. But the option to create or delete applications are greyed out. I have a workaround, where I can use a user newly created/configured to handle these tasks. I'm not sure how LCM would allow the superposition of the admin account properties in the HSS schema.

FYI - check the table CSS_USERS, the creation date is the date of construction original (as well as all other indigenous users) - so I don't think it's relevant. I guess the problem would lie in CSS_PROVISIONING_INFO, CSS_ROLES, or a similar place. After opening a SR with Oracle, they recommended that I restore the entire schema I quickly rejected. He is not a danger, because I use the workaround. But it would be nice to have an overview of the pros on what is happening / what has happened.

    Thank you

    Mike

Wow, that's weird.  What do you see on the side of Essbase (rather than look at Shared Services) If you "appear privilege user xxxx;" in MaxL?

  • Is it possible to use EAS to manage the planning of the Dimensions and the members?

Our Organization is still under implementation of the planning and implementation partner said that you can not use EAS change members because it would cause problems and I want someone to verify this, because I have little hard to believe.  I mean, using workspace is so awkward to edit members while eas is much easier and really tempting for me to try, I don't want to screw up anything.

    Any input is greatly appreciated,

    Bret

Yes. It is not best to use EAS to change members / any changes to metadata

Planning is as a web based tool for planning/preparation of the budget having Essbase as a backend database and all the metadata is stored in a repository of the relationship (of planning) and are pushed into Essbase (where your data is stored).

If you use Web Forms / has all the planning, and if you make changes to members directly in environmental assessments, it is reflected in planning and it is always advisable to not make changes directly from EAS.

If it's just one / two Member changes then I would directly in the planning of the workspace. If there is a set of members then I prepare a file and then run it using contour load utility

  • The planning server restart problem

I want to know what is the way to restart the Hyperion Planning Server in a distributed... environment as I keep hearing people advising to restart the planning server... This means a full restart of the windows server on which planning is installed? or y at - it a simple way to reboot the server 11.1.2.3 planning?

    Thanks in advance,

Now, to be more precise and to point, service order is not important in 11.1.2.2 there in older versions, make sure that your relational database is up and running for the planning application

Make sure that your shared services, i.e. "managed by Hyperion Foundation Services Application Server" is running.

For Essbase - process Oracle Manager (EPM_epmsytem)

For the planning web app Hyperion Planning.
