• Boring bar often appears while the cursor around that stops he or she jumps into another section of the document

  A tiny little bar with arrows on each tip of the left and right side often appears under my cursor while I move it.  He stops the cursor or jump somewhere toward the bottom of the document.  I can't identify what it is because it disappears almost as soon as it appears.  Sometimes, I don't have to hit ESC to get rid of it, so I can again move my cursor.  I have a Toshiba laptop and use the internal mouse.  Anyone know what this could be and how I can disable it?

  The shape of the cursor you describe (a short bar with an arrow at each end) is the form that the cursor should automatically apply when it is on the edge of a window that can be resized or in certain types of document, when it is on a column header or something else that can be resized.  If you hold down the button of the mouse and make dragging the mouse while the cursor is in this form, the element below it needs to change size as trolling the mouse.  It will disappear almost as soon as it appears if the mouse move just above the area without the mouse down because it is no longer on the edge of the window, the column heading or what it is that can be resized.  It shouldn't stop your cursor to move, and I'm not aware of any way to turn it off.

It is a zip code and the name of the city that I want to be able to sort the whole by address list.

  I guess that you export your Excel file to a comma separated file.
  Try to include the column names until the last necessary one, in the same order and spelled as an address book.
  When you export mark the part you want to use column incl. names
  Open your .csv in a texteditor, y at - it no additional space, strange letters, commas, etc.

  I'm trying to divide a report based on a selection of views.
  It is quite a heavy SQL statement so that want to run it once.
  I want to divide it into summary info, cost information and income info.
  Ideally I would have just 3 reports with the same selection and select the columsn I want
  But for efficiency, I want only to run the sql once.
  I don't know how if there is no database caching which would make this sweater cache?
  My other option is to load the query into a collection and then interrogate the collection 3 times.
  But then I have to map all C001, C002... for correct columsn names etc.
  
  You are looking for just a few tips on best practices for this (or if there is a smart way to divide the reports I was not aware of!)  :))

  I had a similar problem. I solved by using APEX_COLLECTION to house data and referenced in various parts of the report on the page. First, I created a process of PL/SQL in the section BEFORE_HEADER of the page to generate the collection:

  You will notice that I check whether the collection already exists and if so, I remove it before you refresh the data. You will need to do this to avoid triggering an error because APEX_COLLECTION with to throw an error if you try to create a new collection with the same name as an existing collection. If your data doesn't change very often during a session, you can also use this logic to see if the collection already exists and avoid to re-run the query altogether.

  Also, don't forget that if your query relates to the city of strings, place 2 single quotes in the string, as

  'select * from CONTACTS where name = ''Smith'' and status = 1'
  

  Then, in the parts of your report, you can query the collection to help:

  select C001 as NAME,
         N001 as STATUS
    from APEX_COLLECTIONS
   where COLLECTION_NAME = 'MyCollection'
     and ...
  

  Remember that there is a specific order for the columns according to the type of data, you will need to look at the docs to understand which columns organizes the data from your query. Take a look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/apirefs.40/e15519/apex_collection.htm#CJAIDBIC in order to better understand the positioning.

  I need to move text that I understand a number of places in a record which will be published later in a field. I would like to have a blank line between each group of data (like a blank between paragraphs line).

  The backend supports secondary sorts and if you sort first on the date column, then on the column of the object, it should work. The problem is that there is no user interface useful for everything except painful and impossible.

  The TotalMessage extension implements a widgets click in the column of the object to allow quick access to the different threads, sorting, grouping, column management actions. You can easily see what kinds of primary and secondary are used, which are supported by the backend, which are custom columns (no available secondary sort) etc.

  Run Firefox 33.1.1 on Windows 7, try to access https://code.google.com. • How can I get the tabs group names appear above the tabs?

  At some point the names of all of my tab groups appeared above the tabs. In other words, there is a horizontal list of open tabs on each page. Above that there was a similar list of horizontal search all groups tabs. This horizontal list of tab groups is now missing.
  This has been useful to reorganize and re-classification of the tabs into different groups because I could see the entire page for any given tab and could move the tab to another tab group simply by clicking on the tab and dragging to any group in the section tab above the tabs section groups. It's usually easier than reorganization of the tabs on the tab page groups (accessed by clicking on "Your group tabs" icon top right of the screen).
  I don't know how this feature got there or why he went, but I liked it.

  I agree. It is a very impressive device available through an add-on that is no longer supported. It would be really useful for me tab groups.
