Secure latitude E6420 DELL Manager

Hi guys I am having a problem with my laptop. It has been updated using drivers dell and apps that correspond to the service tag and everything worked fine until I restarted today and now a password is requested on the bios screen before I can go further. I don't have a password on my OS or my bios but this secure Dell Manager must have chosen a default one in my name. Now that I can't enter anything, it does not start from CD drive or usb just on the screen of the bios password. I tried almost everything I could think of. I removed the cmos battery. Tried various passwords by default possible and nothing. I don't really want to try to short-circuit the memory nvram chip, too much can go wrong with a stripped down laptop power, and even then it might not work. Any help at all would be really appreciated.

OK update for anyone interested. I have been unable to source any help for this and conversations with Dell where unproductive. The only safe option, I had was to replace the motherboard. Then against this option, I decided there was nothing to lose by trying to reset the nvram chip.

The most irritating part is hoping that you detect the chip before complete disassembly disassembly is reached. I found the flea when ideally placed under the keyboard and are easily accessible. There are 2 x 8 pins winbond chips side by side 25Q16CVsig and 25Q64CVSIG, the 8 MB that I focused was the 25Q64CVSIG of chip of 8 MB. If you look to the top of the datasheet of the component, you will see pins 5 and 6 are signals CLK Serial Data In, these are the 2 that short pins must be. If you don't know what PIN is that, if you look at the chip, you will see a circular impression on the face of the chip, this indicates pin1 and the increment of numbers in a movement to the right anti.

First thing I did was to reconnect the drives and everything you have also disconnected and then I tried a normal startup to make sure that everything is properly connected and you will notice the secure Dell Manager is always appearing. Now reboot and while restarting connect a small wire or loose piece of solder between the 2 pins and the PC should start without going through this request for password allowing you to boot into the operating system. Glad it worked first try, I wanted to make sure that it happened again so I opened software Manager secure Dell who was installed and tried to change password option and was able to change the password to something I can remember easily. I then restarted with all reconnected and housed without reset nvram and dell smart manager secure popped up again but this time I entered the new password I had just put in windows, held my breath for a few seconds and he agreed this password.

I hope this helps someone else with the same question because I certainly not a password within Dell Secure Manager software until this question and cannot conclude that, by not defining a software Dell create a default value for me and it is impossible to understand. Good luck.

  • Audio problem with Dell Latitude E6420 and Windows 8.1

    Hello community,

I installed Windows 8.1 on my Latitude E6420 and I can get the sound to work. I installed the drivers available for Windows 8, but he doesn't play any sounds. The only thing that works continuously via a browser (e.g. youtube). When I test the device "speakers / headphones ' this is for me a"Failed to play test sound."but the"helmet of communication"device works without any problem.

I can not activate the device "speakers / headphones" because it blocks other applications (Lync 2013) so I have to keep this option disabled.

I look on the web for similar problems and it all points to the drivers for the video card (!)

Is there a version of driver for this model? Or I can not use the latest version of the software in this model?

Hello. See here for a list of Dell of the models that work with 8 and 8.1. Dell recommends not installing 8.1 on the Latitude E6420 model. Dell said 8 is correct but does not provide an audio driver IDT even for 8. I don't think that there will be provided by any Dell IDT audio driver for 8.1 since it is not recommended to install. This means that you must use the native audio driver supplied with Windows. The native driver is generic and you can usually get audio to work when using it but not all functions are working properly. All I can suggest is to find the generic audio driver in Device Manager (I don't know how it is in the list) and try to 'update' by allowing Windows to search for an update on the internet.

Maybe someone at our Windows 8 jury can suggest an audio driver IDT, you can try to use. If you post here tell them that you already posted on the Audio card to the laptop so that they will not move your message here.

How to activate bluetooth on Dell Latitude e6420

After studying this Bluetooth issue, I learned that Dell don't have not necessarily installed the Bluetooth module on all laptops E6420. I don't see the option on the profile for the online version (hard to believe that they do not have default Bluetooth).

I got the material via ebay and installed it (not plug-and-play or hardware challenged, but possible if you are willing to disassemble your laptop). Subsequently, the Bluetooth then worked as it should. Yet once, why not Dell make this standard Bluetooth rather than trying to save a couple of cents and cause a headache for users?

The temperature of the CPU is also high, around 93 C.

Is this normal? I would return this laptop?

    Thank you

It is a known problem with the E6420 14 "laptop and the Quad core CPU. I have an E6420 and E6520. The E6520 manages the heat much better and higher out of GPU and 95 c 85 CPU when you run Diablo 3 for an hour on the resolution max and max graphics settings.   My laptop comes with the heatpipe heatsink only, he would downclock the CPU because of excessive heat and same judgment. After I got the radiator double pipe with a new thermal pad, my time is up to 100 ° C max on CPU and GPU and cell phone stops is more due to overheating.

The problem is Dell packed plenty of power in a computer 14 "laptop. When running at load max, the cooling system can not just keep it up. Dell should really fix this, but you can do some improvements on your end. FYI - don't try if you are not comfortable to do this or are tech / mechanical savvy.

    Here's what I recommend:

1 make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS installed. Dell changed the thermal curves for the fan of the bios updates.

2 make sure you have the radiator HEATPIPE DUAL DELL P/N - TYP01. My E6420 comes with heatsink tube bad in the photo below.

One pipe radiator - ONLY for the DUAL CORE i5, i7. NOT FOR i7 QM QUAD CORES.

    Forum.NotebookReview.com/.../564579-E6420-Owners-thread-83.html

There is a "gap" between the radiator and the Nvidia NVS 4200 M GPU. Dell uses a NOTE from the ADMIN: profanity removed according to the TOU > heat transfer heat pad. many users have done the following to reduce even lower time by replacing the thermal pad with a wedge of copper sandwiched between two layers of thermal paste / compound. I don't know that Dell probably does not support below this mod even if users have reported the lowest time after the mod which stresses in turn of components less.

3 order the copper shim kit. www.eBay.com/.../260718120394

    I installed "CV_WBF_Setup_Y2GT8_64bit_ZPE.exe".
[1] double-click on the .exe with option of compatibility in windows 7 and the checkbox on the value

    run as administrator (best option).
[2] click on ok for a Floder pop-up.
[3] now install you the driver (this will clear the yellow color material highlighted in)

OK Dell has finally released drivers for Windows 8.  Its a few steps so here's how I worked on all our machines.

Uninstall the Dell Data Protection if you have it installed.

Download the firmware and driver here:

    Driver: www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6420

    Firmware: www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6420

Extract the firmware and install it.  You must run it in high command line and be sure to select the x 64 Installer.

    Reset

Once installed, you can install the driver from Dell ControlVault

Restart and you should now see the biometric device.  The software will be Broadcom now instead of Dell and you can save your fingerprints.

    Kind regards

  • Problem of built-in Webcam Latitude E6420

    Hello

I can't get the webcam integrated on my Latitude E6420 works correctly. It works fine in my browser at times, on sites like this http://vyew.com/s/browsertest/, but not at all in applications such as Dell Webcam Central and Skype.

Are there other drivers, I can try to install except those automatically detected by Windows 7? I've had no luck in finding such.

    Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem by adding a StringValue named UpperFilters, with the value ksthunk to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\ {6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} using Regedit.

  • Latitude E6420 Fingerprint Software

Hello, I have a Latitude E6420 with a fingerprint reader. Unfortunately can use it just for the lgon windows, not to other programs with the password request. Is there an alternative to the software dell or is it just misconfigured?

    Hello and thanks for responding.

    Sorry, I don't understand that.

Can I use my reader of fingerprints for other devices? How to?

    Maybe its my bad English?

I want to use my fingerprint instead of typing the passwords with the keyboard.

If this does not work then why my laptop has a fingerprint reader?

  • Latitude E6420 Sound going headphones instead of speakers

I'm on a Dell Latitude E6420, and I'm having a problem with my speakers.

What I have found is that by default, the computer sends sound for headphones, regardless of whether or not they are connected. There are two audio devices in the control panel > Sound, one called speakers/headphones and the other called Communications helmet.
According to me, that both failed to the headphone, because when you play the normal sounds, they come through the headphones, and when you run the function 'Test' for the Communications headset, that comes through the headset as well. However, when you use the Test a helmet of communication and when you fill out a change in the volume of Communications helmet, the normal sounds (those who play with speakers/headphones) out through the speakers.

Dell has replaced both the motherboard and the speakers, and after that which did not help, they said I have to just wait for a new version of the driver.

  • Update disk SSD - compatibility with Latitude E6420 - E6430

    Hi team,

    My question is this:

Is it possible to upgrade the Latitude E6420 - E6430 of a HARD single on an SSD drive?

Technically, I know it's possible, but several subcontractors of Dell technicians are there a lot of problems with this upgrade.

Indeed, in my business, we did this upgrade on an E6430 yesterday for a client of the beta. This morning, this customer called me to report that after laptop turned on, the display shows "No found boot device".

Are you aware of these problems?

    Thank you

    Max

I m having exactly the same problem, after having cloned my SSD HARD drive and attempt to replace the device in my Latitude 6420 - following the Exchange, I get this screen:

"No found boot device. Press a key to reboot the machine.

    After the previous posts:

"PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable,

    and

"PXE - M0F: exit Intel Boot Agent."

Max, did you ever find a way to solve this problem?  I would be grateful, as the answers below don't seem to address the problem I faced.

Your system could be achieved a malware.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Some malicious software is aware of the methods you're most likely to use to find and remove it (Task Manager, System Restore, command prompt, Internet, Google, etc.)

The malware does not allows you to use things like the Task Manager to find and remove, so it prevents them from becoming a process running on the system and the process will not start or the process will be completed as soon as it is launched.

The malware is happier when he let you think you need to use system restore, a repair install or reinstall your XP from scratch to fix your system when none of this is necessary.

You can fool the malware (and then fix it).

Assuming that your Windows is installed on your drive C, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder c:\windows\system32 and locate taskmgr.exe.

Copy the taskmgr.exe file and rename the copy something malicious software will not recognize.  I like to call the copy:

    c:\windows\system32\jose.exe

Double-click on jose.exe and see if the Windows Task Manager window opens now.

The problem is the malware won't let the taskmgr.exe a running process, but he does not know jose.exe as a running process in order to thwart you all (I have a feeling that he will well a day on jose.exe).

Will not 'fix' your task manager, but at least you will know whether or not the Task Manager mechanism works (taskmgr.exe still not start properly).  If you try to remove some malware and the need to use the Task Manager, you can simply launch jose.exe (double-click) instead, but will be still infected your system.

Usually, there are a few other things that also don't work you would like to know later, so I recommend you do this:

Reduce the risk of malware by running some scans.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs can solve any problems:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

It can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, restart, test your task manager and we can repair any other pending issues.

If things look good, you can delete the c:\windows\system32\jose.exe file.
