  Another way of saying the same thing is that you can have more than one airport, extend a wireless network, but each extension must be connected to the 'main' airport, not to another airport that is already set up to expand the network. This means that each extension would be at about the same distance from the main airport... and... ACH Extender must be closer to the main airport rather than another airport that already is the extension of the network.

  Check your DNS configuration.   'macmini' is not a field specification that I expect to receive the OS x DNS server.  I expect to get something closer to macmini.example.com than, with "example.com" substituted here for whatever the field, have registered and use on your network.   If DNS is misconfigured, the rest of the battery tends to be unstable.

• How to set up my desk now that I'm all Apple.

My company's system is also a beginning 2015 15 "MBP w / 16G and 512 G SSD inside.  I have a box USB 3 of 16 TB for the MacMini server.  I have a magic mouse, Apple wireless keyboard and the touchpad.  When I ran windows with 2 or 3 systems, I got TRULink KVM 4port (w / audio USB & PS2).  I wish I could spend just between the Mac Mini and each of the MBP I, the Thunderbolt display and using the Apple Smartkeyboard with magic mouse.  Is there a KVM out there that will allow me to do the same thing with Apple products?

  I have not used a KVM for a long time, but when I did the only thing I had to observe that it is supported by key press to switch to Macs or that he had a mechanical switch. Find a compatible with the Mac FVM to change keyboard and USB mouse will have no problem. I know not all KVM that supports a Thunderbolt display, but there are models that support display port.   We have five ESX5i Standard Edition (each server has 4 CPU) the total amount of memory for the virtual machine will be 96 GB / ESX.

  I understand that licenses are now checked on VCenter the total amount of VRAM as we have available for all virtual machines will be 480 GB

  One of our server is very powerful. It has 10 cores per processor and 256 GB of memory and the other servers are only 4 cores per processor with 64 GB memory

  My question is: can we really we run as many VM (up to 256 GB, for example), server cores 10 and run, for example, VM only up to 32 GB on servers with 4 cores?

  I think that the VCenter VM counts how much are amplified and how much RAM is used in the pool altogether and for example on a used ESX only 32 GB, the other cannot used 256GB, even two ESX servers have Standard license.

  It is not not going to about 480 GB constant for 365 days?

  It's a common environment. You can run several machines virtual on a single server and less on the other. The granting of licenses and the vRAM is only recorded for the whole of your environment, not individual servers.

• MacMini-digital server: only internal speakers?

  I've implemented a Macmini with digital music files to play through my stereo system with a remote ipad. But the mini will play only with internal speakers, even if it detects the CAD that I use.

  I tried selecting the DAC in the audio section of the mini, and I open the Apple Midi file. Once again, the mini is aware of the CAD, but even when it is selected, the Mini sends the sound for only its own internal speakers.  Unknown yet, when I 'speaker setup' and test to the left and to the right, the sound test IS sent to the stereo speakers. Frustrating!

  I have a macmini 2014 10.11 running. I have an old PowerPC photoshop program and my current computer will not support it.

  I think create a partition of hard drive with 10.3 (which is what I have some old records, no doubt, can be upgraded online) and it works from there.

  I have a 500 GB hard drive about 50% full.

  Anyone know if it will work? And I'll be able to share files between operating systems in a box or something?

I'm a complete novice on how to set up and run a server. Information / instructions (or training info) out there would you recommend for someone like me? When I asked Apple they recommended that I put a question here because apparently they could not lead me and instructions for OSX Server 5.

• Old mini mac as a media server?

  I have a MacMini 2.1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 1.83Ghx, 2 GB RAM Mac Mini that has only a DVI video port.  Currently, the mini does nothing and I would like to unload my primary iMac iTunes account and share the mini for different computers in the House and the current 1 (soon add another) Apple TV.  99% of my media is in iTunes.  I have a 2 GB external spare hard drive I can use on the MacMini for storage.

  A colleague suggested I use the mini as a server multimedia and mentioned 3 applications/tools - Synology Nas free and Plex.  I would like to hear suggestions on how best to continue this Mac Mini as a media server using an external drive.  Is the fastest way to transfer just my iTunes library current of my primary iMac on the external drive on the MacMini?  Currently, my main iMac is where I manage my iTunes account, synchronize devices, purchase new media, etc.  I'm afraid that if I have the unloading to the Mini, how can I manage my current workflow?

  The company I work for just improved servers to a box of MacMini running 10.11 and Server 5. I created a folder on the server that hosts thousands of files of art which the company can access easily and work out of. But for the life of me I can't understand why no one can search for a specific file.

  Is that all that I'm missing?

  The first question would be how are you managing access to files on the server?

  Using file sharing in the application server or via file sharing preferences and

  Finder?

  You should use the Server app to control all access.

  Here's the implementation. My MacMini is connected directly to the Internet. I turned on Internet Sharing in OS X to share ethernet connection of the MacMini to the Internet through an integrated Wi - Fi AirPort card from the MacMini. Other devices such as iPhones are able to see the connection network and access after I provide the right WEP password.

  The HP printer see the Wi - Fi, but after that I provide the correct WEP password, it still does not connect and tells me that I must have active filtering by MAC address. The HP is still unable to connect wireless even when I disable firewall in Mac OS x.

  I was able to get the printer and the computer communicate wirelessly by following these steps:

  1. connect the printer directly to the computer via an ethernet cable.

  2. open the Utility from HP (version 5.0.1) application > click the settings > in group settings of the printer , click additional settings > click Open built-in Web server .

  3. once the built-in Web server opens, click on the network tab, and then click the Advanced Options link in the group Wireless (802.11) in the left navigation sidebar.

  4.1 Network Interface onvalue.

  4.2 under network name, set RITS at the same entrance shown in System Preferences > sharing > Internet sharing > AirPort Options > network name field.
  4.3 under network settings, select Infrastructure.

  4.4 Select WEP encryption.

  4.5 authentication sharedvalue.

  4.6. Enter the appropriate WEP key WEP key and confirm the WEP key fields.

  4.7 click the apply button to save the changes.

  5. unplug the printer from the computer by disconnecting the ethernet cable.

  6 re - activate sharing Internet on your Mac if necessary (i.e. If you disabled in step 4.2 to get the SSID name).

  After having done that, I am now able to print documents from my MacMini to my HP OfficeJet wireless. I have not tested other functions of the printer to see if I can scan, fax or set up ePrint AirPrint, but at least for basic printing I can do wireless (for now).

  That will suffice until I can buy a dedicated wireless as an AirPort Extreme router.

  -Mac OS X Server 10.6.x: installation failure with the error "Mac OS X can be installed in this machine", which is appear after I could see to the Mac OS x Installer, choose the language, the use of virtual driver Ultility disk format... I have attached the error in the attachment, please watch.

  And I've also attached the analyst need vmware.log file.

• Lightroom library on a server with external HD connected via FW400

  I intend to set up a library in Lightroom on a MacMini that I like to use as a file server and will be connected to an external hard drive like a drobo or any other storage box (several TB). Now where the entire library, including previews is sitting on a peripheral storage attached to a MacMini which is still running as my server and connected to a fast 100 MB network line, I fear that I opened the library with a MacPro (very fast) but this will then take long (50 MB Tiff files) to work on. How LR manages files, which will be loaded (just the JPG preview)?

  I would be interested to know this before I change it for this context.

  I'm sure I can create projects for each larger fotoshoot that I can then move between libraries of LR. This should give me the option of storing the work of a project between computers. Do you agree?

  If you work on a specific project between two computers, it would be easier to move a small dedicated library from one machine to the other, for sure.
