ESXi VM slowed, could this be why?

We have a few servers running on ESXi5, one of them taking place in our SQL database and domain control etc. has been a bit lazy in the last months. While building a new box of backup for the execution of Veeam B & R, I discovered there was a snapshot of temporary Veeam who refused to get deleted by subsequent executions of Veeam backup.

I made without a job was running and issued the delete query in VSphere Client.

It takes very long to remove - 14% done in 90 minutes, this could (I hope) be the reason for the slowdown in the virtual machine?

Yes - a high number or a large size of snapshots can slown down a VM until that it crawls rather then runs.

Check your Windows system for problems with VSS - which is the most typical cause for Veeam-questions
