Ethernet emulation

Dear LabVIEW forum,

Anyone know if this is possible, or if there is no example vi, showing examples of using ethernet network connections that are emulated without the actual physical connection, but showing how data can be transmitted/received?.

Ideally, I'm looking for an example whereby a remote PC is equipped with a DAQ card for reception of the signal on the ground measures and then this PC is on a network using the ethernet connection to a remote host.  The remote host will have a sign before LabVIEW which allows to view the action on the ground.  I would like to implement within a single vi LabVIEW showing the DAQ PC and the remote host with connection to the network ethernet connected between them.

Any assistance or help is welcome.

Kind regards

I had the feeling that your Firewall blocked something or you do not have something that is properly configured.

I saw in some examples it says to make sure that the data socket server is launched.  I searched and found this thread.  http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/Datasocket-startup-error/m-p/145719#M87402

After incorporating only and other things in your screws, (put some comments in) I was able to make it work for me.

One of the biggest mistakes was that in your chain of data binding, you gave the Protocol and the server, but I forgot to put in which variable the graph must be linked to.  Another is to set the binding to read only, but this is the VI to write on the datasocket server, so set read/write or write only.

Also, look at the little LED in the top right of the graph on your front.  It will be either green or red.  If it is red, and you go over it, you will see an error message.  This will help to show if things are properly connected on the side of the writing of the communication.

  • Emulation of the instrument for testing purposes

    Hi all:

It is a more general question about the design of software systems:

I have a program, written in C++, which communicates with several instruments OR on different buses - GPIB, Ethernet, DAQmx, series. The program makes certain features of test, control instruments, stores results, etc. Pretty standard stuff.

However, we continue to make changes to the above programme and, before it can be released to the nature, it has itself to test. What I wanted to do, it's this test script and test some of the components of the program that don't involve not talk to the instruments. This is possible offline on the server to build automatically, for example. But to do this I have to turn off, sort of speak, the instruments beforehand.

Does anyone have experience in design of support for this kind of instrument emulated mode? What are the General design strategies to do? Warnings to avoid? There may be tools/libraries available than this.

    Thank you

    -Ilya.

For a single software option, you must use only the IVI drivers for Ethernet/series/GPIB instruments. The IVI specifications require a simulation mode.

    Hi Eliel,

You use Microsoft Security Essentials?  If so, how do you know MSE is what blocks EMULE?  What is your Windows version?  When the blocking began?  What has changed recently (hardware, software - added or deleted - updates, reconfiguring the security settings to security programs, changes to network configurations or connections or the router settings)?  If not using MSE, what security software you use (names and versions of all)?  If you receive error messages, they say exactly Word for Word with all the codes for each message that is different?  What exactly told you that EMULE are "blocked" - what is the exact message from Word to Word, which sends you this message and when is it sent?  The message or anything that indicates precisely which files are blocked?  What is the Device Manager say about the NETWORK card (is it showing clearly and work or are there symbols such as a red X or a yellow triangle or a white question mark next to him or any other device - and if so, which device or devices and what to do the details say about mistakes)?

We need your help to help you.  Please answer these questions (it is unclear who may be the key to identify the cause and the solution) in your next reply.  Although we do not know where to start in terms of help as there are too many possibilities without additional information to narrow things down to something more reasonable.  We are more than willing to try to help you, but we cannot do it without working you too hard we want to solve this puzzle.  The ball is now in your court.

If anyone can tell me the name of the module to the ethernet card?

    Thank you.

Do you mean what NIC is used inside the guest of CentOS?  The emulated NETWORK card could be one of many.

I just created a CentOS 64-bit guest in the 9.0.1 Workstation and the emulated network card is the e1000 (as evidenced by the ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000" line in the .vmx comments configuration file).

According to this article, the e1000 is "...". An emulated version of the Intel 82545EM Gigabit Ethernet NIC. "( http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1001805 )

My setting in the file above to ethernet0.virtualdev is e1000. I've never changed that. While I still have just the player (I used one of the vm online creators), I created the virtual machine and install XP without problem. There were a few devices without drivers; I realized that I needed tools and now I am trialing the workstation to install the tools.

The problem is that the image can not find the Ethernet controller drivers.

I installed the tools and reinstalled.

I mounted the windows.iso and tried to look for it manually.

I tried the search manually the XP cd.

I was sure it wouldn't matter, but I even tried to get the driver of my host system map cd.

Any help on what I should do to get the drivers installed for my guest?

Your vmx selected the (not standard for 32-bit operating systems) e1000 driver virtual ethernet.  The emule a e1000 card Intel Pro/1000.   The e1000 driver is not included in the VMware Tools package.

You can either delete the "ethernet0.virtualDev ="e1000"" line completely, which will be then by default your comments to map virtual ethernet supported by VMware tools, or you can download the driver for the card Intel Pro 1000 on Intel here support site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1878&OSFullName=Windows *XPprofessional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

Since you say that you have access to all of the VMware Tools, I'd say just remove the "ethernet0.virtualDev ="e1000"" line of your VMX file and then put it back in place the tools in your comments.

Please solve this problem as soon as POSSIBLE

    Hello guatamshah,

If your USB to ethernet adapter does not work now that you have upgraded to Mac OS Sierra, there are a number of things we can try to get it working again.

The first thing we want to do is to reset the SMC and the NVRAM on your Mac.

  • Ethernet to the airport also on?

I have my Mac connected directly to our home Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable. That same Airport Extreme acts as our main wifi router. Until recently, I didn't cause to turn on the wifi of the handiest airport on my Mac, but I have to if I want to use the new Sierra "unlock with Apple Watch" and copy and paste between the characteristics of devices, that which I want to be able to use.

My question is, is my default Mac using the connection of the cable as my internet source or have two internet connections active will complicate things?  Is there a way to prevent the Mac to use the wifi for the internet, but still have it on for the other features it offers?

    Thank you.

Nevermind, I found the answer outside this area communities:

    http://www.Macworld.com/article/3039842/Macs/can-you-use-Wi-Fi-and-Ethernet-on-a - mac-to-the-same-SystemRoot\Cluster\Reports\Validation

You can dictate the order of preference for which network source is used in settings > network on your Mac. By moving "Ethernet" upward, your Mac always uses the Ethernet Wifi or any other sources listed below, as long as the Ethernet is an active connection. If something happen with your Ethernet connection (cable comes off, maybe) your default settings for Mac to the next source in the list that has an active connection.

Apparently there is nothing wrong with having active ethernet and wifi connections at the same time.

  • Ethernet questions

So I don't know what is happening but I had an internet outage the other day for about 36 hours when some construction cut my ISP ADSL line and never feel things acted like weird, but from what I can tell it's my 4th gen time capsule at fault.

Only 1 of the 3 ethernet ports seems to put on the internet. I use the other to my basement, and it sometimes says it's on the right of the network with no internet access, but most of the time just says unidentified network, no internet access. He worked all day but seems to just decide he doesn't want to chance.

The other problem is that the TC itself appears to be loss of connection randomly with flashing orange. When reset, it works again. Don't know what is happening here. I use a PPPOE set up to connect via the TC; the ADSL modem is connected via Ethernet. Nothing has changed on my end, this could be a service provider because of the failure?

    Thank you

Also, the modem is a router?

What is the make and model?

I use it as a router and try again with just the bridge the TC.

    PPPOE can be problematic.

Ethernet ports can blow... If you get a tip to the top of the line... then we can take any ethernet port connected to both... If that includes the Port of the TC WAN no longer functions as a router.

You have a little work to understand the question... but another router is key.

  • Unable to connect to the internet using Ethernet

I have a Mac mini as I try to connect via Ethernet cable to a modem Comcast Arris TG862. I was connected via Wifi without problem (with the exception of the slower speeds). I know that the Ethernet ports on the back of the modem seem to work, since I can listen to my TV, etc. In settings > network Ethernet shows as green and connected and gives me an IP address, but as soon as I turn off Wifi no web page doesn't load.
What I am doing wrong? I thought that it would just connect. On the Ethernet port lights, which I think means data transfer. Otherwise, I need to tell Firefox or Chrome to turn to the Ethernet connection?
    Thank you!

The default configuration is to have the WiFi over Ethernet in the Service order.

The order must be set such that the (desired) primary service is at the top of the list and the backup service is below.

If you look at the order of service when it is connected to the network, the higher is the provision of access Internet one (or at least, he thinks Yes).

To set the order, click on the menu of the machine and choose the order of Service. Move Ethernet to the top of the list. This should make it primary unless he loses the connection.

However, it must move up Ethernet and provide a connection when you have turned off the WiFi. When you disable WiFi on the Mac, the Ethernet connection move to the top of the list and show a green connection?

  • set up a branch to the main ethernet using Airport Extreme network

Could someone help me with this network configuration please?

I rent an office and we have an ethernet cable coming into our building to the main network (a fiber broadband building next door). The ethernet line give you IP addresses and internet link.

I would like to set up our own network in our building-

1 / would put an Airport Extreme there is the ethernet cable and then plug the cable into the WAN port

2 / I would implement the EA to distribute IP addresses, but using a different pool - so if the main building uses 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.256, I would be created my AE to use 10.1.1.1 to 10.1.1.256

3 / I would then run an ethernet cable between the port LAN on EI to my Netgear 24 port switch.

4 / I would connect all our other airport extreme and express again our Ethernet switch and put them all to 'bridge mode '. The switch ethernet cables may be connected to the WAN ports on these airports.

Anyone see any problem here? We would just to have control over our own IP addresses and be able to restart our Airport Extreme, if we must, do not rely on the building next door to the distribution of intellectual property. I know still need to answer on them for the internet connection, but that's fine.

    Thank you!

It should work. It would be the basis of a network of mobile type.

A word of caution. With the exception of the "main" AirPort Extreme that performs as a router, connect the other base stations using their respective ports of LAN. We found some inconsistencies when a base station is in bridge mode and the connection is their WAN port.
