  • Events in the log events in more than 2 years.

I have a computer in my office suffering incredibly slow for the first 10-15 minutes once it is started.

While trying to diagnose this problem, I've been checking the event logs to see if something was fishy.  That's when I noticed that the last event in the system event log is dated June 2008!

What in the world would cause that?  I'm getting no errors in the event log is full, or whatever it is.  But could this still be the case?  What would be the just cause stop recording of events in the event log?

    Thank you!

You can set the size of what you want. I have all mine limited to 64 KB and have never had a problem to not see anything.

Did you check the settings for each log, I guess? Your system log, click the default settings, click on apply, OK. Clear the log, and then go back into the properties and set it to "Replace the events if necessary."

    Gerry,

Thank you for your response.  It gives me a better understanding than the data stored on my computer that may be able to help me, and you have introduced me into a player.  I've posted the system log here and it includes hundreds of lines.  However I do not know how to make it visible to you.  I checked it to share and the only file that is serious is one that you brought me to download.  Although I have not found the answer to my problem, I found your advice gave me a better understanding about the tools that are available.  Maybe I'll get to understand how to use them.

It's me serious concern. This means that an unauthorized user has installed access remote asteroid Trojan or malware on my system? How can I fix this and prevent subsequent instances of what's going on? Thank you for your contribution to this issue.

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

According to the description, it seems to be a problem with the remote of a web of computer resource access as it is connected to internet or malware/virus infection.

I suggest you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: While running scan on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning try to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

; The actual configuration is this file that is associated with the server settings to form animal - effective .ini

Ah! Yes, the agent is to collect real-time events. If no new event is written then it won't work. If you want to collect logs that have been generated before you use the importer of Log insight which was published with LI 3.3. I hope this helps!

  • Questions looking for events from a log file

I have the windows agent installed on some servers to monitor log files and run into problems trying to find specific events.  I can see the events under HERE if I do a host name contains the name of the server, but if I then try to filter or search who, following the events specific to find I get no results.  Also even when I'm filtered by host name and can view event I want to if I highlight and select "Contains: the data I want" she returned with no results.

Another experience that or I do something wrong?

Okay, after review, it appears that the journal file is in UCS - 2 format. By default, the agent LI uses UTF - 8. The agent also supports UTF-16, which is the most recent version of THE of UCS - 2 (which has been deprecated in 1996). In the filelog liagent.ini you try to add:

    charset = UTF16 - THE

  • GROUP hosts ESX (impossible to find in correlation of events through Insight Log)

We have several ESXi 5.0 hosts who are restarting unexpectedly (GROUP) and want to use Log Insight to quickly assess how rampant it is through the fleet and the frequency of occurrence.

Unfortunately we have not been able to generate a successful via interactive analysis query to return any success.

Here is a sample of the actual events, through the vobd.log on a given host:

    2013-07 - 01 T 14: 29:21.790Z: [UserLevelCorrelator] 96423176us: [esx.audit.host.boot] host has started.

    2013-07 - 01 T 14: 29:22.469Z: [UserLevelCorrelator] 97102185us: [vob.user.host.coredump] a unread host kernel core dump was found.

Tried to set exclusions specifically for the name of the host in question, do a search for 'core dump', etc. all without success.

    Ignorance of the user?

If you have configured the ESXi host (s) in question to send Remote Insight log syslog after the GROUP occurred then it would be expected behavior. Configuration of any device to send remote syslog applies only to events that occur after the configuration has been implemented. The next time that event occurs that you should be able to get him in Insight Journal (you could even create a dashboard or set up an alert beforehand). Log messages would be removed only in the case of the network connectivity issues or hitting a maximum on the target remote syslog. In terms of ESXi, the only thing to keep in mind is the remote syslog bug. I hope this helps!

  • Events of waiting "log file parallel write" / "log file sync", in CREATE INDEX

    Hello guys,.
my current project I'm running a few tests of performance for oracle data guard. The question is "How LGWR SYNC transfer influence the performance of the system?"
For the performance of the values, that I can compare I just built a normal oracle database in the first step.

Now I perform various tests such as creating index 'broad', massive parallel inserts/validations, etc to get the marks.

My database is an oracle 10.2.0.4 with multiplexed on AIX log files.

I create an index on a table of "normal"... I have run "dbms_workload_repository.create_snapshot ()" before and after the CREATE INDEX for an equivalent period for the AWR report.
Once the index is built (round about 9 GB), I made an awrrpt.sql for the AWR report.

And now take a look at these values of the AWR
                                                                       Avg
                                                 %Time  Total Wait    wait     Waits
Event                                 Waits  -outs    Time (s)    (ms)      /txn
    ---------------------------- -------------- ------ ----------- ------- ---------
    ......
    ......
    log file parallel write              10,019     .0         132      13      33.5
    log file sync                           293     .7           4      15       1.0
    ......
    ......
    How can it be possible?

    With regard to the documentation

-> synchronization of log file: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/waitevents003.htm#sthref3120
Wait Time: The wait time includes the writing of the log buffer and the post.
-> log file parallel write: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/waitevents003.htm#sthref3104
Wait Time: Time it takes for the I/Os to complete. Even though redo records are written in parallel, the parallel write is not complete until the last I/O is on disk.
This was also my understanding... "log file sync" wait time should be higher than the 'parallel log writing' timeout, because of, it includes the e/s and the response time for the user's session.
I could accept it, if the values are near each other (perhaps around 1 second about altogether)... but the difference between 132 and 4 seconds is too visible.

Is the behavior of the log file sync/write different when you do a DOF as CREATE INDEX (maybe async... like you can influence it with COMMIT_WRITE initialization parameter?)?
You have no idea how these values born?

    Ideas/thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks and greetings

    Hello world

Since the last update of the TMS to version 14.2.2.

I got the following error every morning.

Does anyone have the same error? How can I fix it?

    Hey

This could be linked to the "ftp" being civic record. For example the software (software endpoint) directory may be located outside the directory wwwTMS. This is a requirement now to have the directories accessible from the web in the folder wwwTMS. Do you store the software outside of this folder and that's the file ON WHAT TMS points?

  • Tasks and events in vCenter logs

    Hey,.

Recently encountered a problem where someone has configured a vCenter server to use a MS SQL express 2005 database, and the DB hit the size limit of 4 GB for vCenter wouldn't start. In order to make things to start working again, I deleted some data old tasks and events in the tables VPX_EVENT, VPX_TASK and VPX_EVENT_ARG. However, I prefer not to have to do it and to wait for a problem like this from happening again. I know that you can set the time of retetnion records statistics and perf, but you can do the same for the event data and the task? After removing the records I had more than 3 GB of free space in the database.

    Any advice much appreciated

Unfortunately in the vCenter 2.5 line, there is no automatic size.  In vCenter 4.0 (once it is out), there is a retention settings task and events you can follow events for x amount of time.

What kind of events seem to be completing the tables?

    See you soon,.

For a while now, when I go to the event viewer, system logs and application are met, but nothing shows up in the security logs.

I reset the security for the default logs, after having erased the old entries.  I left Application and system records alone.

Malware?  System works normally, no freezes or crashes.

Registry settings?  Settings of the administrator?

It's the only thing wrong with this system.

    Procedure recommended action?

I have indicated the path in my first answer.  In gpedit.msc, the path is:

    Local Computer Policy\Computer ordinateur\parametres windows\parametres securite\strategies locales\strategie

.. .and inside there's a list of things you can audit.  You can enable their success, failure, two or no checks at all.  Disable the audit, and you will not save anything in your log file.

As the proverb goes...  "Size is not serious...". »  ;-)  You can set the size of your log files regardless of what you put in.  In the Event Viewer, simply right-click on the 'System', 'Process' or 'Security' entry in the left column and select "Properties".  Then tell him what is the desired size of your log file before it starts to replace the entries.

Yes, Windows can open an .evt file.  It is that event viewer.  When event viewer is open, just click on 'Application', 'Security' or 'System' in the left column depending on what type of file .evt you want to open, and then select "open a log file.  It will then give you the option to navigate to the log (.evt) file.

I don't know what else I can tell you other than to direct you to this:
"How to audit access of the user files, folders and printers in Windows XP"

There is no path that they give in step 1 on my machine.  I have the chance to:

  • Kernel Event Tracing/Event Log/error - log of the homegroup could not start.

I hope that this is the appropriate place to put this.  I get this error in my event logs whenever I have to restart my computer.  Specifically, Journal of the residential group was able to start, and in the event logs, it appears as "error events-kernel trace log.  There is nothing wrong with my homegroup Similarly if, as I can see all systems located throughout my house and everyone have access to another.  Errors in my logs have always bothered me :), and I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.  Thank you.

Moreover, this error occurs on several computers in the homegroup, so it is not limited to one machine having difficulty.  This error however not has an impact (as far as I can tell in any case) on the performance of my system.

OK, I'm just to add a little here to mention that work, a round/fix or whatever you want to call it to my original problem.  As I mentioned in the previous post, the systems are not displays the error for several days now.  I think it's because I have restructured the homegroup and ensured that I created the homegroup with my office that stays ON all the time.  So, in other words, I think that the problem comes from the fact that when I created my new laptop wifes, I initially created the homegroup on her computer she puts to sleep all the time when she does not use it.  Other systems, which are mine, continued to generate one error on the log of the homegroup, when his machine was in mode 'sleep'.  Since I restructured the homegroup to ensure that my office is the system that started the homegroup (and remains on nearly 24 hours a day), I didn't have the original error.  If anyone knows this same type of problem, then if I were you, I would at least look into resolve the same way I did.  I'm thinking my problem SOLVED.  I don't know how to mark this topic as a response, so I'll just stay here.
