My computer was always clean before the incident of the mouse. I have no idea on what caused the system freeze. Could be a clever virus that only does move it after days of length to increase stealthness.

Thanks for you help,

[EDIT to see answer: my last post]
There is no virus, this was caused by the corrupted registry windows xp.

Hi Alex,

I recommend you follow these steps to check if the problem is caused by a party program "smart" virus or by a third party.

Step 1:

Download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if that helps.

Note: You may lose data while eliminating the virus.

Step 2:

Test the issue in a clean boot State in order to check whether the problem is related to a third-party program conflict.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

  • How can I recover encrypted after reinstalling Windows jpg files?

    ENCRYPTED JPG FILES

I recently had a major BONE down and since my laptop running XP Pro) was bought four years ago in a former

employer, that he hasn't had the recovery discs, I had a techie load discs of my daughter in my laptop. This of course

led to my loss of all files. I had the backup files to a hard drive stand alone. I had about 6 GB of photos, mostly from the jpg

which approximately 1/3 have been encrypted. I don't understand why, because all the photos have been scanned or copied on the

same laptop running XP Pro. I've never knowingly encrypted files. Is it possible I can get these encrypted

files? I don't have the certificate number of the previous operating system. Still, I don't understand why some files would be

encrypted while others were not using the same Windows XP Pro operating system. Can you help me? In the opposite case

I'll have to rescan hundres of photographs. Thank you.

Yes, the repair shop know what they were doing, but the fact that you gave them a Dell reinstallation CD, as well as the fact that you got the computer back without your files, suggests that what the store did was a "clean install".

The facts that the files appear in green and the encryption checkbox checked are bad for you.  Both indicate that the files are encrypted in fact using the Windows Encrypting File System (EFS).

I've never heard of files becomes encrypted without any action of the user, but how the files got encrypted are now irrelevant.

As far as I KNOW, your only hope is to download the demo version of Elcomsoft application linked in my previous post and see if we can find any trace of the hard disk encryption key which is not crushed by the relocation.  I don't know, but I suspect that the free trial will tell you if it can or cannot decrypt your files... but they will decrypt only really if you pay for it.

ElcomSoft claims success in situations like yours.  The less you use the computer before you run the data recovery software, the better your chances of recovery.  I think you have to go with the more expensive "professional" version.

I doubt that anyone can have a clear idea without being particularly familiar with your system/network.

It can be one or more of the many configurations/parameters that went 'haywire '.

    Hello

The possible fix is the same that you can not boot the system currently.

You need to make a computer repair/restore on another disc, borrow a friends Windows disk.
or buy one from the manufacturer of the system. See the methods in BOLD above which also shows how

I'll wait to install pending a possible resolution here. If anyone has experienced this problem and has a resolution, I would be grateful to receive information and repair.

    Hi Nathalie,.

Thanks for the reply and the link to the article. I appreciate it. While I was not having trouble to download updates, it was one of the update of the files froze during installation. I had gel resulting set before your answer.

I'm not sure what I did to fix it, but the installed annoying file itself. Here are the steps I took to learn that annoying file has been installed:

    "I restarted my computer.

"then stop it showed that he was trying to install the file again

"I hit the reset button on my machine.

"My machine is restarted, I received the message that my machine was not correctly stop and choose Safe mode or start normally.

    "I chose boot normally.

"Somewhere during the start-up, something installed or flashed a message

"My system automatically restarted by itself.

"On my screen, my computer displays a message saying it was set up my system.

    'My computer restarted again

"Back to my login screen, I had a repeat of the previous message from my computer's configuration.

"After that over, I arrived at my office

    "I've manually run Windows Update

"After Windows Update, I checked the files available, disabled the original file in question and click the button install.

"These files correctly installed and gave a message requesting to restart."

    "I rebooted my system manually.

"Back in my office, I manually tried to install the file in question.

"It gave me a message that it was already installed.

How he installed himself is a mystery. Other than on the first attempt to update my machine, it has NEVER included in my another attempt to update. Anyway, my machine is purring along as if nothing had happened.

    You can mark my question.

    Thanks for your help,

  • If I buy a copy of the oem version of Windows 7 is it possible to upgrade to Windows 10?

    * Original title: need help

If I buy a copy of the oem version of Windows 7 is it possible to upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes, you can upgrade from versions of Windows 7 OEM to Windows 10:

Please note that you must take advantage of the free upgrade offer before July 30, 2015.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft. »)

  • Windows 7 - file/folder access permissions

In Windows 7, is it possible to remove the folder and file access permissions throughout the world?  I changed the permissions of folder individually, but it's a nuisance, because permissions seem to vary throughout the structure.

I also batch files copying and writing data that are also affected by these folder permissions.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello

I do not understand the process will be painful, however you must first start with the largest content and assign a new owner and save the changes made to all the sup files inherit the same permissions and down to the last file.
Some useful tools that can help to facilitate this task, CACLS.exe, since there is not a direct support of article which explains the features and methods for the Windows 7 operating system, I would say that you use your favorite search engine to check its controls and description.

Note: Make sure that when you are looking not to click or download random content that can be labeled 'Cacls, property, access' as these file may damage your computer.

    refer,

Subinacl is an autmated process and therefore the OP will not have to change the file permissions individually if he could run this tool. These are advanced steps, do not try until the necessary measures are taken to ensure that the data and the system upward.

  • How to clear the Windows.edb file in Windows 8

The customer has a PC under Windows 8, and he wondered how to remove the Windows.edb file. He recorded 60 GB of information. Is it possible to have the option of Windows search and have this file shrunk down to the size? Is it possible to empty this folder? Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

    Please respond with more information.

Thank you very much for the help!

I just had this problem myself, with a clue consuming 107/278 GiB!

    Here's the trick:
    (1) search for "Indexing Options" (under "settings"). Open it.
    (2) search for 'services' (or run "services.msc") and find "Windows Search". Stop the service.
    (3) remove the Windows.edb file
    4) click on "Change" in the Panel "Indexing Options" already open, then click on "Erase and rebuild" for the index. You can also specify another drive to store the index on.
    Hope that helps.

    Thanks again for your help

As I have not examined the content of the hard I cannot give you a definitive answer but I'll tell you that, with the obvious corruption, shown in the first two sectors of the disk recovery at this stage, it is necessary advanced if it is not very advanced and can also be extremely laborious to get you in very advanced techniques.  The problem is that I don't have time to explain, and or to teach someone how to do what else can be right now because it was not learned and understood all night and just can not be easily passed along.

Suffice to say if you did not good backups along the way, while it may have been a hard lesson learned I bet that in the future do you good backups from that point forward to easily recover when something bad happens new!

  • Failure to write a Windows Media file

Help, I use a Gateway computer and operating system Windows XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3. It has Intel Core CPU 6600 @ 2.40 GHz, 2.41 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM. I have the two Premiere Pro CS3 and CS4 installed. There are 54.1 GB of free space on my hard drive with 94.9 GB used.

I used to create files without problem with the CS3 version .wmv but with CS4 there is a failure every time. Project exports to Media Encoder and encoder runs through the whole process and even, looks like it ends up. But once it gets to the end, here is the message I get.

    Windows delayed write failed

Windows could not save all the data (my file) on the data was lost. This error can be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save the file elsewhere.

He also had this message in a separate window:

I tried to change any variables that I could in the Media Encoder for creating a Windows Media file. For example, you can choose several presets: "Source NTSC to download high quality" "Source NTSC 1024 Kbps of download" and many others. I tried not to change anything on the filters, public, video, Audio or other tabs. I've never had to with the CS3 version. In addition, I don't know much about the Audio or video Codec.

    Any help is appreciated.

As the request wrong, you have any external HARD drive of in the mix, especially USB 2.0 external?

This lack of write delayed is common, when a program high-performance push more data, that the USB 2.0 connection can handle.

It is also a sign of imminent disk failure HARD internal, or a controller failure.

It's something to be very, very concerned.

Please give a lot more information, especially in regard to your auxiliary system of e/s, i.e. of your HDD, their size, speed and type of controller, and how you have them allocated.
