Exadata database on solaris Server

Is running on the DB Exadata server is Solaris is big endian or little endian? This answer needs to pronounce on the conversion required when migrating to exadata endian.

Hi Tycho,

I n ' think there a solaris exadata. they want just to know if he gets one if it can migrate direct big-endian to big-endian. Unfortunately "endianness" is a chip architecture proerly and not the operating system where the chips intel x 86 were always little endian unlike any tokens of risc architecture.

I think that the only big endian chips from intel were probably xscale, Intel i860 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia i860 and i960 itaniums.

See Endianness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for goodness more endian

I want to add a new database on this server. So I want to find if we have enough memory to add a new database. How to find?

There is a script called omemuse.sh that does exactly that, and you can find it easily enough. There are two versions of the script; that the one you use depends on your version of Solaris.

Also note that the amount of memory that your use of DBs depends on the SGA and the total PGA. The latter varies according DB activity over time, it should be taken into account.

  • Send a Blackberry smart phone info to a database on a server using Java?

    Hello

I'm new to the Blackberry development... but I now have a project to do.

I want to retrieve the latitude and longitude of Blackberry GPS and send them to a database on a server every 30 minutes.  Also, I want to be able to do without the user doing anything on his Blackberry (I mean, I don't want him to click somewhere every now and them).

I was able to get the latitude and longitude (double) using Java.

I don't know how to get out them of the BlackBerry.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

BTW, I do my testing on a 8310 Rogers using JDE 4.2.1 Simulator.

    Hello

The BlackBerry smart phone needs a 'gateway' to connect to the internet. This white paper is extremely useful to explain all your choices of selection of the good gateway:

Data on BlackBerry 4 Wireless Transport Management - Part 1

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe?func=LL&objid=832210&objAction=browse&s...

Once you have selected the gateway, then you can go ahead and use the Connector.open (url) command to create a HTTP connection to the application server (Tomcat, JBoss, .NET, etc.) on the internet. The application server could then use ODBC/JDBC to store data in the database.

    DB version: 11.2.0.1

Name of the comic book source: has

Name of the comic in double: diferent Pentecost B file structure.

    Can someone help me please?

The target and duplicate database cannot have the same ID duplicate so is not what you need. If you have FOO database on a server and want to copy to FOO on server B, with a different file structure, then simply copy the RMAN backupsets to Server B, and restore the database by renaming the data files. There are many examples on the web.

All the right questions... Welcome to the world of Exadata.

These are questions that could get into a lot more detail and discussion than a forum post. At a high level, you certainly don't want delete all indexes on Exadata. However, you need to index and an indexing strategy will change on Exadata. After you move a database from one not Exadata Exadata environment you are probably more indexed. Indexes used for OLTP transactions real - looking one or a few lines among others will usually quickly with an index. The index used to avoid a percentage of records but always returning number of records can often be moved. On the index depends on the nature of the workload and your application. If you have a control on the index, then test your queries and DML with the index (s) invisible. Check your implementation plan, the columns io_cell_offload in v$ sql, smart scan wait events to ensure you get intelligent analysis... and see if the smart scan is faster than using the index (s). The real-time SQL Monitor is an excellent tool to help with this - use dbms_sqltune or grid/cloud control.

Parallelism is a great tool to help still speed up queries and direct path loading operations and can help prompt smart scans... but use of parallelism really depends on your workload and must be controlled using DBRM and the parallel init parms, possibly using same parallel declaration put on hold, so it is not overwhelm your system and cause concurrency problems.

If you have a mixed environment of workload or consolidates databases on Exadata so my opinion is IORM plans should certainly be implemented.

  • Cloning of a database to another server.

  • Move the database to the server running Oracle 11 G to the server running Oracle 12 c

I'm trying to find the best way to migrate a database to a server that is running Oracle 11 G on a server that is running Oracle 12 c.

I tried using the RMAN duplicate command of database but have run in many too many problems when you try to configure both servers before running the command duplicate.  If someone could provide some guidelines on configuring two servers of the RMAN Duplicate command clearly then that would be great.  The other thing, I've tried makes a cold backup of all files for the database (data files, control files, etc.).  Copy them to the new server, and then re-create the control file to include the correct location and names for the data files and the redologs.  After you re-create the database control file does not start.  I suspect that it is because of differences in version.

If you can provide me with claire (ie. migration for Dummies) instructions to get one of these methods of work, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am also open to any other method you can think of to achieve what I'm trying to accomplish.

    Thank you

    Paul,

Please, go to the PDF below he explains the process of upgrading.

You can create all the tablepsaces and then use utility Import/export where the directory paths are different

    Hi Sameer,

This topic has been discussed on this forum last month, with some good ideas:

    Exadata version

Also note that the V2 and X 2 have gone through several rounds of material during their life, so not all machine V2 have the same CPU features, for example.

  • Moving database from 1 server to another via Data Pump - some queries

    Hello

I am planing to move my database from one windows server to another. Part of the obligation is also to update this database 10g to 11.2.0.3. So I'm combining 2 tasks using the export / import method (via Data Pump) upgrade.

Regarding export / import (which will be a pump full data of the database export) my plan is.

create an empty 11.2.0.3 target database on the server (same number of control files, and redo logs etc.) ready for an import of the source database
Q1. This will create tablespaces SYSTEM and UNDO - I presume the datapump export doesn't include these spaces of storage anyway?

For export, I intend to simulate CONSISTENT = Y using FLASHBACK_TIME = SYSTIMESTAMP
Q2. What is the return of flame characteristics must be active on the source database to use this knowledge should I Flashback Database enabled on the source (as opposed to other flashback features) database?

My target is a virtual server with a single virtual processor
Q3. Is there any point PARALLEL usinng in the import settings file (normally I would fix this number of processors - however in the case of this virtual server, it is actually onely a virtual processor)?

For the import, I intend to use the REMAP_DATAFILE option to change the location of the data files on the target server

Q4. If the import fails before the end, what is the best course of action? for example I just let go of data storage spaces and remake a complete import?

    Thank you
    Jim

    Jim,

I'll take a pass on your questions:

create an empty 11.2.0.3 target database on the server (same number of control files, and redo logs etc.) ready for an import > source database
Q1. This will create tablespaces SYSTEM and UNDO - I presume the datapump export does not include these storage spaces > anyway?

The system tablespace is created when you create a database, but the Data Pump will export and try to import. It will fail with tablespace exists. I am sure that the undo tablespace will be also exported and imported. If they are there, then just import will report that they already exist.

For export, I intend to simulate CONSISTENT = Y using FLASHBACK_TIME = SYSTIMESTAMP
Q2. What is the return of flame characteristics must be active on the source database to use this knowledge should I Flashback Database active > on the source (as opposed to other flashback features) database?

I know not true about it. I thought that you need just enough cancel, but I hope that others will run in.

My target is a virtual server with a single virtual processor
Q3. Y at - it no PARALLEL point usinng in the import settings file (normally I put this on the number of processors - > however in the case of this virtual server, it is actually onely a virtual processor)?

We recommend usually 2 times the number of processes, so 2 parallel should be ok.

For the import, I intend to use the REMAP_DATAFILE option to change the location of the data files on the target server

Q4. If the import fails before the end, what is the best course of action? that is, do I just give up storage of data and redo a > full import?

It depends what is failure. Most of the failures will not stop work, but if this is the case, then most of these jobs may simply be restarted. To restart a job, you just need to know the name of the task, which is printed as you start to export/import, or you name the task in your order Data Pump. To restart, follow these steps:

    password/user Impdp attach = job_name

If you do not name the work, the name of the job will be something like

    User.sys_import_full_01

Hope that helps - and good luck with your migration.

  • name of database name - confused Server vs

    Hi all
I am looking at the API OracleDataSource, what say the docs:

databaseName, string name of the particular database on the server. Also known as the SID in the Oracle terminology.

Servername String the name of the database server

    I know the databaseName and can also find using select name from v$ database;

But how to find the name of the server? Any file or command that can be used to find this info?

    Thanks in advance

The server name is the name of the area where your database resides. You can ask your Sysdba to give you that. IF you are on the same square, servername can be replaced with localhost.

We decided to move the database to another area, the source is 11.1.0.7 version (solaris 9), is it a good idea to move from db to solaris box 10 (clone)? no compatibility issues? or additional patch needed? can you please help?

If you stop the database cleanly and then copy all THE files to a new installation of the same version of Oracle on another machine using the same folder structure (a COLD backup) it can not miss anything.

Re-reading the initial recognition, seeing that they do NOT change the versions of Oracle and do NOT change their operating system, it would seem that a cold backup and a restore would be the preferred method.  Very probably fewer service interruptions and a guaranteed relentless, nothing will 'disappear' from the database...
