Exadata to no Exadata Data Guard

Hi all

I was wondering if its possible to have a custodian of data between an exadata at the JRC to a single instance of Linux server with a ZFS storage pool.

I have experience in a RAC standby single instance with data protection, it is not my problem.

What I was I was wondering if there is a question in this configuration with the exadata, in theory is a database platform Linux with the support of the Supreme Constitutional Court

Since I have the HCC support with the ZFS storage pool, I think it's possible.

Thanks for any advice.

CMF

HI THE CMF.

It's certainly an interesting use case: have a database Eve supported ZFS device in order to use the HCC when Eve is opened.  Of course, a single ZFS supported by the database instance will be considerably less ability than your Exadata, so I guess it will be a read-only reporting system than a true disaster recovery environment.  If you plan on running large queries on ZFS - backed HCC data, keep in mind that, unlike Exadata, decryption of the HCC is not unloaded to storage, then the available CPU of the server database to manage the workload increased.

  • Digital switchover and Active Data Guard

    I spin a quarter-Exadata V2 support systems (two instances CARS) and am changing my sleep Physics (an Exadata V1 rack with four RAC instances) in an Active Data Guard configuration (i.e. bearer Real - Time Query). The RDBMS runs 11.2.0.2 with BP7.

    My question is if I need to disable RTQ/Active Data Guard before a planned failover? If this is not the case, the transition process will automatically start QTR on the 'new' standby (i.e. my 'old' primary)? We'll test this on next month, but he was curious to know what to expect in advance.

    I use DGMGRL (Data Guard Broker) to manage the transition to digital.

    Any thoughts?

    Mark

    If you use the broker, as you must do with RAC, the broker must manage everything seamlessly. If it's not, and you need to test this, open an SR with Oracle's Support.

  • Using Oracle 11 g Data Guard disaster recovery

    Hi, can anyone answer if Oracle 11 g Data Guard by itself provides an option for making/switch between the main bases and emergency (back and forth) disaster and as a restoration solution, seamlessly? Here's the scenario:

    1. two databases (active and reserve)

    2 put it to sleep (make primary with read/write)

    3. restore to the original database

    Data Guard has two transitions of role... Failover and the digital switchover.

    Passage to the fact exactly what you describe. You can switch to standby and vice versa. However, this will not work unless the primary and the standby are available. If you will not be able to perform an operation of swichover when you have a failure in the main data center that makes the primary db not available.

    Failover will be the day before in a primary for the moments where the primary origin is not available. Unlike the digital switchover, failover is one-way. There is no 'restoration' of failover. If you do not failover, then once the old Center of main data is operational again and you can get the former primary database up, you must restore from the first news and make a watch for the first new. At this point, you can then make a pass to come back and run in the original data center.

  • Data Guard archive political deletion log

    Hi all

    I configured the data guard with 2 bases Eve in oracle 11g.

    I want to use rman to delete archives on all servers.

    I have configured no FRA, no recovery catalog.

    My question is:

    If I delete waiting til sequence # 1627 and on primary sequence til = # = 1620 or vice versa this would cause problems for Data Guard.

    I say delete until the different sequences # on primary and standby cause problems for synchronization?

    Thank you

    So if I understand delete archivelog to sysdate - or delete archivelog all completed before sysdate n is not the archivelog deletion policy you put on RMAN?

    She depends on it. The note was made at the base of the MOS document how ensure that RMAN is NOT delete archived logs that have not yet shipped to standby mode (Doc ID 394261.1)

    Delete archivelog to sysdate - depends on all of the deletion policy. If the deletion policy is set on "applied pending all", then it does not delete the archives, if they are not applied on the day before. If the deletion policy is set to none, then it does not check if the archive is applied on the eve and deletes them directly.

    Last Archive generated on primary:

    SYS@oraprim > select max(sequence#) from v$ archived_log;

    MAX(SEQUENCE#)

    --------------

    114

    Last check-in applied in mode ensures:

    SYS@orastb > select max(sequence#) from v$ archived_log in case of application = 'YES ';

    MAX(SEQUENCE#)

    --------------

    109

    Delete policy set to NONE on primary:

    RMAN > show archivelog deletion policy;

    using the control file of the target instead of recovery catalog database

    RMAN settings for database with db_unique_name ORAPRIM are:

    Dear experts,

    The size of the database - 500 GB

    I have the plan to implement Data Guard. The database size is 500 GB.

    Please find below the question

    (1) when the database is harnessed for how long take use waiting for database so immediately or a few minutes?

    (2) when the server went down how long then to connect with the server backup immediately or a few minutes?

    I'm new to the data protection environment. Kindly help me

    Hello;

    I can perform a failover or a failover with Data Guard Broker in about 20 seconds. If I don't use a broker, it takes about 3 minutes.

    Quick start failover takes less time. Time will depend on the material, etc. of configuration options.

  • Data Guard - allocation of licenses and other fundamental questions before setting it up.

    Hi all

    Please allow me to submit some questions about Oracle Data Guard.

    There are 2 databases 'authorized and ready ':

    -a single instance of the "alfa", Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2 database,

    -"bravo", Oracle 10.2 Enterprise Edition, Real Application Clusters database

    I have to "align" congratulations to alfa on a daily basis, so that--in case of failure of the main 'alfa' site - recovery is possible change to the site "bravo."

    (1) even if we can afford a loss of data corresponding to the period little uttered at the end of the last daily alignment (no need to 'transactional' alignment between the two databases), I assume that the best approach to meet this need in terms of efficiency and manageability consists on two databases including in a Data Guard configuration.

    Am I wrong?

    (2) in particular, the physical implementation of the standby database must be preferred over logic, because that "simpler and faster" in this case. Am I wrong?

    (3) only the Data Guard configuration require

    (a) additional licenses?

    (b) additional material/software resources for host machines?

    (5) the release of two databases must be equal to the specific to the component version number (10.2.0.1, for example)? Or, for example, is a 10.2.0.1 able to work with a 10.2.0.3 db db in the Data Guard configuration?

    Thank you very much in advance!

    You have reason, physical hosting it good thing. For the most part, you will get impact with until or unless data loss because of some problems of network (or a configuration problem)

    (2) in particular, the physical implementation of the standby database must be preferred over logic, because that "simpler and faster" in this case. Am I wrong?

    Logical standby is a little different from the physical standby mode

    (3) only the Data Guard configuration require

    (a) additional licenses?

    (b) additional material/software resources for host machines?

    Data features come with Enterprise Edition - perhaps for the active database "cost of the additional license.

  • Data Guard - RMAN removing archive log

    Hello

    I ' v DataGuard with physical standby.

    I do a backup only on the primaries. Both sites have ther separate backup systems.

    I ' v FRA and configured archivelog deletion with RMAN configuration:

    on primary: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

    standby: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON STANDBY;

    It works fine but I think what if scenarios and I'v qestion on best practices for backup after the transition of role management. Let's say that for some reason, as i'v in switch mode sleep for a few days and the backup will be posible to watch (now primary) database. What would be the steps/reconfiguration appropriate to do?

    1 should I reconfigure RMAN?

    change of new primary to: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

    change back to sleep again: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON STANDBY;

    2. make full backup

    Hello

    1. you can refer to the oracle documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmconfb.htm#CHDCFHBG

    section: "all archived Redo Log deletion policy."

    Document provides the best algorithm to analysis of work

    You can use the CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY BACKED UP integer TIMES TO DEVICE TYPE command to allow a policy of removal of archived newspaper. This configuration specifies that archived newspapers are eligible for deletion only when the specified number of archived log backups exist on the specified device type.

    If the deletion policy is configured with the BACKED UP integer TIMES clause, then a BACKUP ARCHIVELOG , the command copy newspapers, unless integer already exist on the specified device type backups. If integer are backups of logs, then the BACKUP ARCHIVELOG command ignores the newspapers. In this way, the deletion of archived newspaper policy works as a default NOT BACKED UP integer TIMES clause on the BACKUP ARCHIVELOG command. Note that you can override the deletion policy by specifying the FORCE option on the BACKUP command.

    The deletion of archived newspaper policy has also options specific to an environment Data Guard. , then RMAN can delete logs after they have been applied to all destinations remote mandatory. If you specify SHIPPED TO STANDBY , for example, then RMAN can remove log files when they were transferred to all destinations of mandatory relief.

    2. the paper provides good information, just to check and decide easily based on the functionality of the database role you can configure.

    It will be useful.

    You must create two entries in the configuration file "defaults.xml" for your ADR (formerly APEX Listener).

    One for db.connectionType and, secondly, for db.customURL, for example:

    customurl
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=
    (ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DB-ENDUR)(Port = 1520))
    (ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=DB-ENDURK)(PORT = 1521))
    (LOAD_BALANCE=off)(FAILOVER=on))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=ENDUR_PROD.VERBUND.CO.AT)))

    Reference: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E56351_01/doc.30/e56293/config_file.htm#AELIG7204

    NOTE: After you change the configuration file, don't forget to restart independent ADR / Java EE application server support if ADR is deployed on one.

    Also check if your URL for a JDBC connection is working properly and if there are any questions, you can turn on debugging for ADR:

    Reference:

    Directed by Tony, you should post the ADR related questions to the appropriate forum. Reference: ADR, SODA & JSON in the database

    You can also move this thread on the forum of the ADR.

  • TAF TNS entry for active data guard

    Hello world

    I learned this method of-> http://uhesse.com/2009/08/19/connect-time-failover-transparent-application-failover-for-data-guard/

    Is there a better way to do this? Can we achieve this using an AMT only?

    I think I found the answer. According to the document oracle practices best client failover, the service can be configured to start automatically on the standby server when the role of the db is changed. This can be achieved by creating a service with srvctl with option '-l PRIMARY' on both sites

    For example:

    Main cluster: srvctl add service d Austin s oltpworkload r - ssa1 ssa2 ssa3, ssa4-l primary SCHOOL - q TRUE EI SESSION m BASE w 10 - z 150

    Cluster of relief: srvctl add service d Houston s oltpworkload - r BSR1, ssb2, ssb3, ssb4 - l PRIMARY - q PURE EI SESSION m BASE w 10 - z 150

    Documentary link--> http://www.oracle.com/au/products/database/maa-wp-11gr2-client-failover-173305.pdf

    Also the entrance to the AMT must be created with two descriptions, one for primary and one for standby

    TNS_DG =
