Data Guard environment, how time will need to use standby Database

Dear experts,

OS - Windows server 2012

Oracle Version - 11.2.0.1.0

The size of the database - 500 GB

I have the plan to implement Data Guard. The database size is 500 GB.

Please find below the question

(1) when the database is harnessed for how long take use waiting for database so immediately or a few minutes?

(2) when the server went down how long then to connect with the server backup immediately or a few minutes?

I'm new to the data protection environment. Kindly help me

Hello;

I can perform a failover or a failover with Data Guard Broker in about 20 seconds. If I don't use a broker, it takes about 3 minutes.

Quick start failover takes less time. Time will depend on the material, etc. of configuration options.

Best regards

    I came across several documents that speak of FLASHBACK DATABASE configuration in dataguard environments. We have several
    Physical DBs sleep (Single Instance & RAC) running in our shop. I would like to know two or three major (common) use of FLASHBACK DATABASE data child care settings.

    I understand one of the uses mentioned in the below URL ie. a logical error recovery

    http://uhesse.com/2010/08/06/using-flashback-in-a-Data-Guard-environment/

    I would like to know what are the other major/common use of Flashback Database River in environment DataGuard

    A few other uses:

    (1) flashback allows you to test your DR. So you can activate your watch. Test the connectivity of network/applications and features on your recovery site and when done return the database to a physical standby. It must however ensure that this is allowed in your environment. In some places, I worked, it would be a big no, no, because they have no needs of data loss. However some companies that will allow as long that the watch is delivered in place for some time.

    (2) in the case that you do a failover for a reason, but what has been the main site would then become available, you can flashback what has been your primary to make the eve rather than re-instatiating the database from scratch.
    For example. You have a power failure on your main site if perform you a failover and your watch becomes the principal. Once it's your main site is back online, you can convert your previous primary in a day before making a full return/restoration (or any method you choose) to recreate your standby again. However you also have the option to use flashback on this database and then convert it to a watch because it would be potentially faster than the re-instantiation of the day before.

  • How much will be / * + PARALLEL * / use?

    Hello

    I've always used / * + PARALLEL (tablename, degree) * / but I recently saw a query using just / * + PARALLEL * /.

    I tried to search the Internet but no conclusive answer, so approaching again the expert forum is not found.

    Interesting - I searched using "parallel index of oracle 11 g" and this was the FIRST link

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e25523/parallel002.htm

    Then I searched the page for "parallel" and find section 19.1.2.7 tips for parallel execution which was State

    You can specify the parallelism at the level of the object or statement. If you do not explicitly specify an object in the indicator, then parallelism occurs at the level of instruction.

    Then, this article explains the difference between the EDUCATIONAL level and OBJECT level parallelism and includes a code example.

    And article 3 of the code example shows this:

    3 run the following SELECT statement:

    SELECT / * + PARALLEL (4) * / hr_emp.last_name, d.department_name
    Hr_emp, departments d employees
    WHERE the hr_emp.department_id = d.department_id;
    Because there is no schema object specified in the PARALLEL indication, the scope of the indicator is education, not an object. This statement requires the request of employees and departments to run with a degree of parallelism to 4, tables substituting defined on tables parallelism setting.

    All this took less than 5 minutes and EXACTLY answer your question!

    The documentation is your friend.

    I suggest that a break of Oracle and research of tutorials on the internet about how to search the Internet. Until you learn how to search effectively on the internet, you will continue to have problems, find answers.

  • RMAN restore until THE SNA in DATA GUARD environment

    Hello

    OS = RHL5

    DB = 11.2.0.3 primary and 1 physical database paused.

    I have a huge request changes tomorrow and its possible that I have an obligation to RESTORE the database 5 hours back because the application.

    I think to be adopted following the method of the official documentation of the Oracle (untilClause):

    MOUNT FORCE OF START

    RUN

    {

    UNTIL THE SNA 1418901.  # The necessary number SNA will be used here.

    RESTORE THE DATABASE;

    RECOVER THE DATABASE;

    }

    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;

    I will of course take Level0 backup tonight and LEVEL1 backup before the start of the work.

    My humble question is that: If this is the good method I adopt? and if so, then what about physical databases eve? Is that something to restore/recovery too? It is not required or waiting for database necessary to create again (which I'm afraid of)?

    Flash back is not enabled.

    Pack of thank you for the suggestion.

    Best regards

    You can enable FLASHBACK DATABASE on major sites and relief and set a RESTORE POINT before the migration of the applications.

    If you stop to redo expedition to the France, the waking state is the last SNA that was applied (i.e. 1001). If you need to return the primary SNA 1011 and then resume the delivery of roll forward, Eve can continue to 1002 from totally ignorant.  If you flashback primary to a SNA lower, say, 998, you would have to flashback the night before as well (997 or 998) until you can resume redo expedition to the France.

    No need to start MRP waiting, because whenever the broker started, MRP will be initiated.

    You must follow the steps to download and install Adobe Creative Cloud apps to "install previous versions of applications. It is not particularly easy, but if you follow the steps and screenshots, you will be able to install the CC2014 version.

  • How to link swf to asp from database

    Hi all

    I'm in trouble, I have a swf file that is linked to a database asp.

    Also, I want my visible movieclips on stage to appear in an output file.

    As I have no idea how to do this, any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    There are at least 4 possibilities to handle this:

    1 store data in a LocalSharedObject

    2 store data in simple text files

    3 store data in structured text files(xml,html)

    4 Excnahge of the data with a database via FlashVars/Xml

    It depends on what is the final phase.

    Working with XML is practically a standard with most of the webservices:

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/AS3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9b90204-7ff5.html

    LSO, textfiles and FlashVars are easier to handle, but not suited for complex data in bulk

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/ActionScript/3/Flash/NET/SharedObject. HTML

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/AS3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9b90204-7cf8.html

    When you want to store data on a server, you will need to use smth like asp or php in addition to as3.

    If you have no experience in the use of these Web technologies can expect a steep learning curve

  • How to Setup Data Guard with alter tablespace... begin backup approach

    Hello!

    I am writing this compilation of documents in a guard daata establishing in 10g. I was in charge to present different approaches in implementing on Rhel 5.

    I came across 3 procedures (which is to duplicate a database with RMAN, then configure it to a Data Guard feature). I read a process using (let's this is what the article said, but procedure was presented):

    alter tablespace... .begin backup;
    alter tablespace... .end backup;

    then copy the generated files and configure it to the data protection feature.

    Someone help it with that? Is there like a blogsite or steps I can take for this scenario?

    Hello;

    The best I found was: (and its same 10 Oracle! and not RMAN.)

    http://sites.Google.com/site/catchdba/physical-standby-database-using-HOTBackup

    There, an old link here on this topic:

    DataGuard configuration using hot backup files

    Hard to find much on this topic as "Hot Backup" almost always comes to RMAN.

    This collection of notes can also help:

    DataGuard knowledge browser Product Page [ID 267955.1]

    And the "Formidable" Powerpoint:

    Seems that this method is dead somewhere between Oracle 8 and Oracle 9

  • service_name multiple effect the data protection environment.

    Hello

    I created an environment for the protection of data in oracle 11 g 2 (11.2.0.3) on Linux OS. Now, I wanted to have the same service_name for primary and physical database of relief?

    Is this possible? It will affect my Data guard environment in the future for some reason any?

    Please let me know if you need more information.

    Thank you

    The entire process is

    1. create the service on the primary (Data Guard apply makes available the day before)

    BEGIN

    DBMS_SERVICE. CREATE_SERVICE ('ernie', 'ernie');

    END;

    2. start the service

    DBMS_SERVICE. START_SERVICE ('ernie');

    -You can stop it too

    DBMS_SERVICE. STOP_SERVICE ('ernie');

    3 define some default settings

    BEGIN

    DBMS_SERVICE. MODIFY_SERVICE

    ('ernie',

    FAILOVER_METHOD => "BASIC."

    FAILOVER_TYPE-ONLINE "SELECT."

    FAILOVER_RETRIES-ONLINE 200

    FAILOVER_DELAY-ONLINE 1);

    END;

    /

    4. create the trigger as shown before (applied Data Guard makes available the day before)

    5. check the listener

    >lsnrctl status

    "Ernie" service has 1 instance (s).

    So original running service will always be there, but use a tnsname as I have posted before and you are ready.

    There are several advantages to this configuration:

    Guests can reconnect using the same connection string.

    Need to communicate with customers is reduced, especially after hours.

    Primary maintenance may occur with only minor interruption of service. (passage)

    Name of databases may be different without impact to the customer.

    So, replace "ernie" with something logical and you are ready to create. The nice thing about having the original service is that you can have another alias of snapshot of database for the short tests without having customers ask why the net80 is the same as the production. It's just another alias.

  • Parameters must set up Data Guard with Data Guard Broker

    Hi gurus,

    I am following this guide http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/sap/wp-ora4sap-dataguard11g-303811.pdf, but it does not specify what settings must be defined for the service to the top.

    I noticed that we can set upwards of two ways, either Oracle Enterprise Manager or Data Guard Broker. Do we need to configure the same settings in OEM and after to activate the DGMGRL?

    Can you help me?

  • Restore the size of the log in Data Guard configurations

    DB version: 11.2
    Platform: Solaris 10

    We have currently a DB production which is not Dataguard.It has a load of joint working: some processing OLTP and batch.
    Its size of redo log is * 100 * MB.

    We will create a database with the requirement very similair but this DB will have primary standby (Data guard) and real time applies.

    To adapt to the requirements of dataguard, we should reduce the size of the recovery online newspapers? That is to say. Transport of small pieces of roll forward is better than carrying more. Right?

    Hello;

    If you use "real-time applies" the key is not the size so that the standby Redo Logs.

    In most cases, 100 MB is fine. Newspapers to sleep again must be the same size that it again.

    With 'real time applies' SRL act as a buffer.

    Unless you have a real problem with the size of do it again I would not change it.

    An excellent source of information on this is 'Restore the Services of Transport' in ' Data Guard Concepts and Administration 11 g Release 2 (11.2) "E10700-02".
