  The only real way to test the temperature with an accuracy of 100% is in the system BIOS. The problem is that the BIOS barely uses all resources and does not generate a lot of heat so that your not getting a reading on temperatures while the laptop is actually used. Most of the BIOS settings are programmed to stop the laptop if the temperature reached 100 degrees Celsius. This is commonly called the TJMAX. Safe temperatures would be anything below 85 degrees Celsius.
