Exclude the automatic numbering of hidden pages

Hello

I have a form that spans about 10 pages and 6 of them are hidden so, based on the selection that some pages will show. I have a page counter that displays always all 10 pages. Page 1 of 10 even if there are only 4 pages displayed. How can I get the good count based on what is displayed to the user.

Thank you

Do a test:

Create a new form

Add 2 pages

On the master page insert the m in the library page number custom

From the tab object hide one of the 3 pages then preview in PDF

  • Double automatic numbering on 1 page

    Hello

    I need a way to add automatic numbering on a page, I know that indesign can add this based on the number of page, but I have to add 2 numbers on the same page.

    So let's say I want to have a page from 10 to 26, I want on page 1 page 2 the numbers 10, 11, 12, 13 numbers and so forth.

    Is it possible to do it automatically and not by hand? I want to add a large number of pages that make it impossible to do it one by one.

    Thank you

    Lists are extremely easy to do in Excel (and most other spreadsheets). Enter the number three trois premieres first in the first three cells in a column, and then select cells and drag the small handful in the lower right of the selection down to automatically fill as the cells that you need. Save as .txt.

  • How can I make automatic numbering of tables Pages to print?

    Hello people,

    I recently change my old macbook to a macbook pro, so now instead of office for mac, I use Pages 5.6.1. and my problem is I can't find no option in the parameters of format that allows me to perform automatic numbering that appears for permanent tables. I'm about to finish my master's thesis, and the reader is oriented to the data displayed in my title tables and the table number line, however, when I print the tables that the numbering never appears. I would have thought about this before, but now it seems a little paradoxical for me to manually have the number of hundreds of lines.

    So: Is it possible to do automatic numbering that appears in the form of guidelines on the tables of the Pages have become permanent, so it gets printed?

    Thank you for your time and your ideas! They will be very much appreciated.

    Strange question for a master's student.

    Just insert a column/row of the table and put your numbers in that.

    Method of pages to create sequences is the only thing different.

    Number 2 first cells with the sequence that you want for example 1,2 > select the two cells and a small yellow dot appears below > that drag down to continue the sequence: 1,2,3,4,5,6...

    The sequence may be something:

    Numbers, 27, 30, 33

    Base numbers: 0001, 002, 0003

    Letters A, B, C

    Days Mon, Tue, Fri

    Month, Jan, Feb, Mar

    Text + number, topic 01, 02, 03 subject

  • Maintaining the automatic numbering in the text variables?

    I have typeset manuals that often have several levels of headings in a single chapter. The editor I work has a style where the first 3 levels, or of the positions will be numbered, 8, 8.1, 8.1.1. No problem. Set up the paragraph styles with auto numbering, each title to another level added for automatic numbering, and it works like a charm. The only problem is that common titles are also supposed to include these numbers with the topics. The left page, the title of the chapter, is so good because I can just insert the chapter number before the current title paragraph style text variable: 8. "chapter title." But the right page must indicate the chapter number, first number of lower level and title (8.1 "topic"). When I use a text for this variable, the numbering created by the original paragraph style disappears from the topic. If I give the leader running his own style of paragraph numbered on the master page, it will always tell '. " 1,"even when the topic changes because there is nothing for him say to start a new number. For my current project, the first sublevel of the section change every 4 or 5 pages. So I'm hoping someone can help me find a way, I don't have to do it manually. Can inDesign keep autodial? Can anyone recommend a script possible or plug-in? All comments will be welcomed with gratitude!

    Thanks for the question. I saw this problem, but never had the need to work around him... until now!

    Variable text header running InDesign cannot capture the numbering of the paragraph.

    To work around it:

    Implementation:

    To create a character style to be used as a style nested within the lower level paragraph style. For testing and editing, assign a color of character; for use, change the color of the characters None or paper.

    To create a cross-reference format that captures only one paragraph Autonumbering.

    Create a character-style-based running header text variable to capture the reference; insert it into the master page.

    Use:

    * At the end of the lower level heading, insert a special character the end Style nested here.

    Continuation of the nested end marker style, insert a reference to the paragraph, using the single paragraph number format.

    The cross reference will be the color of the characters of the nested character style "fakednumber".

    The variable based on the character style to a running header text will seize the number of referrals.

    * For final hand, change the color of the style of characters fakednumber None or paper.

    Notes:

    Cross reference is placed at the right end of the paragraph of title rather than at the beginning, to avoid moving the header text. If he has withdrawal is sufficient between real auto-nombre of the paragraph and the beginning of the title, it would be possible to insert the cross-reference it.

    * Because the cross-reference occupies space on the line of position even when it is invisible, remember that it does not cause the line to be returned on a new line. You can set the size of character fakednumber style property as a very small, same font size reduce the horizontal scale, in order to minimize the risk of a new packaging line, as well as defining its color to None or paper to make it invisible.

    * When preparing a book for final hand, you can change the character of the fakednumber style definition in the Source of the Style file and synchronize it with all the other files in the book, or you can perform a search and replace across all files in Notepad to replace the instances found visible from fakednumber with the invisible style.

    * To simplify the modification of the definition of fakednumber from the visible to the invisible, consider creating two files of model to this end; one contains the definition of visible, the other contains the definition of the invisible. Load character style definition in the style source, and then synchronize the character on the book styles.

    Mission possible:

    * To simplify this task in the future, nag Adobe do running variable header text capable of capturing the numbering by filing an official request here: Adobe - feature request/Bug Report Form.

    *

  • Sections of the automatic numbering through master?

    Read the post on the forum Section numbering in the header , it seems that I have to do is not possible, but the online documentation implies otherwise, and Bob Bringhurst has proposed that I have post my question here.

    What I'm trying to do is provide chapter numbers on each page, in addition to the page numbers.  But given that the content is XML all my chapters are in the same document, and I need to set up the numbering in the Master.

    The documentation on 'Add an automatically updated chapter number' says "' If you want to split a single document into chapters, you can create cuts instead".  But the "define section numbering" section seems to be only on the numbers page dynamic or static text section (explicitly defined in the Section Options dialog box).

    Is it possible to create a number automatically updated in a page header (defined in the Master) which is NOT the page number or chapter?

    I guess my tracking number will be - if I can get a number of section automatically updated in the header, is there a way to add a Section break or what needs to be done manually for each section anyway?

  • Help with the chapters of the automatic numbering

    Hello

    I'm a newbie on FrameMaker, that I don't use it very often, so please forgive me if this is a stupid problem. I inherited a FrameMaker manual from the person who was my work in the past and for the first time in three years, I had to add new chapters to the project. I upgraded from 7.2 to 9 recently. However, I'm unable to get the new numbering of correct chapter. From what I could gather the help of FrameMaker, I seem to have these options properly configured:

    • Chapter dialing properties: for example, the first chapter, I've added is defined in chapter No. 21, and continue numbering from previous chapter in book option is selected.
    • In the paragraph Designer, format of chapter.number (which is used to display the chapter number on the title page of each chapter) has a formula for C: < n > +, exactly as the other chapters having correct numbering.
    • I checked the options in the text block box customize, and the stream seems OK (tag is A, and automatic connection is enabled). Again, these settings are exactly the same in the previous chapters.

    Despite all this, each new chapter, I added appears in Chapter 1 on the page, in the running footer and title and I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to get this book done before I go on vacation Friday and this is my last hurdle, so any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Older versions of chassis, chapter numbering has been treated as an AutoNumber paragraph, which seems to be the case in your books. Therefore, your chapter number really is a paragraph number, about Frame is concerned. In more recent versions, chapter numbering is handled with a special building block <$chapnum>, which is what affects the numbering of chapter.

    Then, because your documents have been initially implemented with the old system of automatic paragraph numbering, the easiest thing for you to do is the NUMBERING of the paragraphs for your new chapters continue the numbering of the previous paragraph in the book. This in the book, not the file chapter; in other words, in the book, right click on the chapter file and select numbering. This approach assumes that ANY OTHER numbering in the files, such as figures, is managed with other sets of numbering, i.e. NOT of C:

    If you want to update the numbering system and managing the numbering of chapter numbers chapter, and then in the designer of paragraph for the chapter title format, to replace the C: with <$chapnum>you must do this for each chapter file; an easy way is to do a single file and then import the paragraph format in other files the fixed file open, select other files in the book file, select file > import > Formats, select only the paragraph formats.

    Hope this helps,

  • Unique automatic numbering, need full page for book counter

    I have searched all over the Internet.

    I am trying to add a variable that would make a total number of pages of the complete document... While it is not unusual for a request, the book is not a continuous numbering system.

    For my cover, I need a total number of pages that make up the book. However, each chapter has its own set of numbering.

    For example:

    Cover page - 1

    Table of contents - 2 pages

    When the generation of this chapter page number would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: 1 Format: (xi) novel.

    Chapter A - this has total 10 pages, but the page numbers are a supplement to a previous edition and would be pages 13-23. When the generation of this chapter page number would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: 13 Format: digital.

    Chapter B - has 11 pages total, as above, it would begin on page 40.  Generation of this chapter page numbers would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: Format 40: digital.

    If I add up the total number of pages in this document, it would be total 24 pages.

    I need a way to count each section and add a variable to the coverage that would say something like 'this document contains 24 additional pages for document XYZ' where 24 would be a single variable that would change when more pages are added to the complementary document.

    Find out the number of pages <$lastpagenum>variable. Insert your last page (or use an invisible color specified using your point of view of color) and then refer it to your cover page.

  • disorder of the automatic numbering

    Hello

    I have FM 12.0.4.455

    I have a book that contains about 5 chapters.  Each topic in the chapters are separate files, starting with a 'home page' file which is really just the master page and nothing else. For example

    -Getting Started chapter

    -to start home.fm < homepage >

    -intro.fm < content >

    -database.fm < content >

    -Chapter installation

    -installation home.fm < homepage >

    -system requirements.fm < content >

    I limit myself to the 1st page must contain a chapter number, then only the files 'House' should display this information.  I also want the page numbers of each page must contain the chapter number and the number of current page, for example, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2...

    For the numbering.

    First of all, I used the format < n = 1 > AutoNumber. 0\t for the first chapter and < n + >. 0\t for other chapters.  It worked well, but it prevents me from adding chapter on the foot of page number because I can't figure how to get it in the foot.  THEN, I used < chapnum >. 0\t, thinking it was my bet easier to add to the content and the page numbering.  The problem is that I can't get the increment of numbers correctly when I use "chapnum" (or sectionnum or volnum).  Works fine on < n > but not correctly on all the others.

    In my example above, the use of < chapnum >, the Installation chapter appear in Chapter 4, corresponding to the file 4th in the book!  I mean 'Chapter 2' corresponding to the second chapter in the book!  I chose 'continue the numbering' everywhere I can find it, in the format > Document level and by right-clicking on the file in the list of files in the book. I've updated the table of contents every time.

    Just go back to < n > solves everything without changing anything else except the building block.

    On the other hand - if there is anyway to add the chapter number in the page number without using < chapnum >, I'll do instead!

    Any other suggestions?  What Miss me? I spent too long to do and redo all think Miss me something!

    You should use the <$chapnum>building block, but must control it via the book file. Do not try to control the numbering via files individual FM.

    Click on the chapter in the book file, and then set chapter numbering properties as needed. In your example, set the file 'Getting Started' as being '1', then the following three to use the same number as the previous chapter, then for the chapter 'Installation', together than to continue numbering, then the following files to use the same, etc.. You can then use the building block of <$chapnum>in all of your auto-numeros and it will be OK.

  • THE AUTOMATIC NUMBERING

    Hello

    It is a way to define the type of 'NOTES of THROUGHPUT' of Bill for auto generate an invoice number?

    Thank you

    Hello Jann.

    Ok. Here is the solution:
    First, you create a sequence to fill the number of debit note. The following example creates a sequence called AUT_DM_NUMBER from the number one and incrementing it in one whenever it is called. You can change these settings.

    CREATE SEQUENCES AP. AUT_DM_NUMBER
    START WITH 1
    INCREMENT BY 1
    NOCACHE
    NOCYCLE
    ALL;

    Now, create the following form customization:

    Open the invoice Workbench.From Menu choose Help/Diagnostics/Custom Code / customize. Forms customization window opens. Enter a sequence number for customization (can be 1), a description and choose the level of form.

    Pay attention to two points
    Condition
    Trigger event-> a TIME NEW POINT INSTANCE
    Trigger object-> INV_SUM_FOLDER. INVOICE_DATE
    Status->: INV_SUM_FOLDER. INVOICE_TYPE = "Debit Memo".

    Actions
    SEQ-> 1
    Type a-> property
    Object-> point type
    Target-> INV_SUM_FOLDER object. INVOICE_NUM
    Name of the property-> VALUE
    Value-> = AP. AUT_DM_NUMBER.nextval

    During the seizure of the debit note, whenever the user presses the field from the Date of the invoice, invoice number field is filled in with the value of the sequence.

    Save your work, close all forms and test them.

    Let me know if it worked.

  • custom with the automatic numbering sequence metadata field

    I created a custom metadata field and I need to start a zero and then one with each checkin. There are other qualities for this particular area, I managed to do. Currently, the field is V99_99999 where V is a constant, and immediately after the V 99 is the two-digit year. everything works very well. I'm having is the second half of this. I have it currently goes against the content_id, which is 003856 at the moment, when I check in my first content, Cela will look like V09_003857. what I need to look like is V09_00001 and then increase by one with each checkin and then for the part... When really complicated changes in the year, on January 1, the counter should start over to all zeros again.

    I'm relatively new to the AAU and it seems huge to me. I bought a book called "The Definitive Guide to Stelelnt Content Server Development" in the hope of finding the answer, but am always sick, so I use another line of life and tender hand to you all.

    Thank you
    Patti

    Interesting!

    You will need a component. You already mentioned that you had a custom metadata field. You will also need to add a counter to the table of counters for your component. During a control as you will have to retrieve the following value from the table of counters, increment the counter and store new number back into the table. The part of the id is easy, the year get the current year and enter the last two digits. Then put this togther all to get the data of your metadata field.

    The big question now is where in the process of integration will make you all this? You will need what is called the filters probably. AddFiles maybe, maybe validateStandard, there are several who could work with.

  • How can I get my LOF to see the chapter numbers and page?

    I work in FM 11. My document has a TOC, BATCH, and LOF. My LOF would not be up-to-date, so I created a new one from scratch, but can't seem to get the LOF to display the chapter number in the Figure number and the page number. The format should be TitreFigure X - Y Figure... X Z. Where X is the chapter of the source, there is the number listed in this chapter, and Z is the number of page (Figure 1 - 1 Architecture... 1-5 showing the first figure in Chapter 1 is on page 5 of Chapter 1.)

    The reference page for the PRIZE which is correct:

    LOT_Ref_pg.PNG

    Compared to the reference page for the LOF that shows me only consecutive numbers and a page without the chapter prefix numbers:

    LOF_RefPg.PNG

    I tried to copy the reference to the table of contents or the BATCH page. My LOF looks like this:

    LOF.PNG

    You must add the <$chapnum>component in all relevant places you want FM to display the chapter number (see the table of contents for examples). You will also need to change some of your paratags to be included in the automatic numbering (if your content is using this combo of num chapter-figure in your chapter documents).

    Also insert the tabs in page reference LOF definitions, but use the code '\t' instead of a tab character so that you know that a tab command was specified. Change the corresponding paratags to include the desired tab stops. (for example for Figure_TitleLOF you should have something like "<$paranum><$paratext>\t \t<$chapnum>-<$pagenum>").

  • Can I do an automatic numbering of paragraphs?

    I find that I can use the automatic numbering if I have elements that do not go on a single line and double line spacing. But if something runs several lines spaced single, I want a space before the order of the day, then that must be a new paragraph, is that correct? In this case, automatic numbering does not work and I have to go at the end, after moving items and fix all issues. So, can automatically numbered paragraphs? Thank you janeos

    Hello Jay,

    Automatic paragraph/list numbering increments and applies the following number when you type a return (paragraph break).

    Two returns by typing in a line is interpreted as a signal to stop the numbering of paragraphs and list.

    ""If something runs several simple lines spaced, so I want a space before the order of the day, then that must be a new paragraph, is that correct?".

    M S

    You can insert an empty line without creating a new paragraph by typing a line break. Press SHIFT + return. Then press return to enter a paragraph break to create (and number) a new paragraph.

    You can also use the text Inspector (Format button, and then text) to set the Pages to add a space before or after (or before and after) each paragraph so numbered or not.

    Kind regards

    Barry
