exFAT HD size file allocation

Hello:

I have a HP laptop dv6500z running Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium SP2, OS.

I am considering buying a MacBook Pro from Apple.

I want to be able to access and modify files that are currently on my HP laptop with the MacBook Pro, so I would like to know the following.

If I buy the MacBook and an external USB hard drive and reformat it in exFAT and copy the files from my Windows laptop on it, what I've read, the HD would be readable / write two laptops.

(As I understand it, Vista is able to work with HDs formatted exFAT).

Should I format the HD USB with Vista or Apple OS X, or is - what really matters?

What are the optimal settings (or better) to use when formatting the HD, for example

"Use allocation size?

All the other tips you can provide me with would be appreciated.

Thank you

  • Maximize battery life flash by using the Scriptures of sector size file. USB and SD card storage limits Cap

I use the sbRIO-9636 with 512 MB of non-volatile storage (Flash I presume?).  I'm not find the size of the sector in the Spec Docs, I found it, and Measurement & Automation Explorer does not display it no more, and I can't find one physical property of RT to make it.  I built a utility 'RIO leader Writer"for the text written to the buffer until the sector size is full or until the file is closed using the VI, but it would be useful to know the sector size.  For now, I'll assume 32 KB as I read the 9606 uses 16 k with its 256 MB drive.

I have attached the utility (a single LV 2012 (VI) in case someone else would be useful.  I promise you there better performance or memory efficient, but its purpose was to save the Flash of my application, which supports the recording of data CAN (1000 + packets/sec) to the file, and it does that very well.  I continued to save the CAN data without it, with each written separately CAN package (~ 40 characters / record log, or ~ 820 written by sector of 32 KB), I probably would have started to lose areas in the next few weeks was not that of wear levelling - maybe even with wear leveling.  With that, life shouldn't be a problem (although the ability remains one, I can switch to USB storage if it is).

Come to think of it, this can help with all the data being quickly to any player, as all readers use sectors (or blocks of sectors), assuming that you can sacrifice the RAM requirements to register your system hard disk (or to).

Storage issues more:  What is the limit of the capacity of the SD and USB function storage on the sbRIO-9636 map?  The specification mentions support SDHC, but does not say specifically THAT SDXC is not supported.  It does support the monstrously huge SDXC cards or the max for SDHC (32 GB)?  In addition, with SD and USB storage, is size of block review?  LabVIEW has a property, I can read for all this that I don't see?

    Hi Erik,

I was wrong, we have a LabVIEW function that will find the size of area for a specific drive, it's the Get Volume Info.vi (link). You can run this VI and the flash drive on the sbRIO to find the minimum size of sector for reference entries.

Regarding external drives to the USB port, I think you are right in your assumption about the limits of FAT16 and FAT32. Keep in mind there are also limits on file size of 2 GB or 3 GB of maximum file size.

Most of the USB-to-IDE adapters works for the sbRIO (or cRIO), but USB-to-SATA is not supported to work on sbRIO. You can always try to use a SATA-USB HARD drive, but it might not work.

  • Disk/LUN - formatting: virtual image size = file size?

    Hello

I am trying to add storage to a vClient and I'm just stuck on a step in formatting.

As you can see in the joint, it asks me to put in place a "maximum file size".

It includes images of virtual machine?

Because I'm creating some server images which can reach more than 256 GB.

or is it just images .iso and other files that I could save on this storage?

    vm123.jpg

BTW, "based on the maximum size expected virtual disk" means that the maximum file size is also right on the VM image?

Yes, as mentioned earlier, the virtual disk to the virtual machine is just a hard on the data store file and you will need to select the block size in case you use VMFS-3, who maybe don't have sense if guests need to access the data store.

  • VMDK file size file size shrinkage / incorrect after cloning

While working with VMWare on case 1159631091 support we had to clone a virtual machine that had 3 separate HD located on separate to a temporary volume volumes, then when after starting the virtual machine successfully, we have cloned virtual machine again with appropriate VMDK dating back to their original Volumes...  These volumes have been configured thin and was originally considered appropriate sizes.  Now after cloning, the volumes are showing completely full.

    Example of

Volume 1 has a file VMDK 20 GB on a 25 GB volume and the volume shows 24.5 GB full on the SAN.  There are the 20 GB VMDK file and the file of 4 GB of Ram.

Volume 2 has a 150 GB VMDK file on a 150 GB volume.  The data on the volume is only about 10 GB at the moment.  My SAN previously reported only usage to 10 GB and so I guess that the VMDK file suit size.

Volume 3 has a 50 GB VMDK file on a volume of 50GB.  There are currently no data on this volume. My SAN previously reported use null.

So I need to know if possilbe and how to boom the VMDK files to their appropriate size so that they report correctly on my SAN.

    Thank you

You have several choices on www.vmware-land.com for shrinking vmdk.  For most use VMware Converter, use it to clone existing and increase or decrease the size of all readers and point to the destination storage systems.

  • Size of allocation for scratch disk array

I am building a workstation CS5/64 works on Win 7/64 that will be used to edit images from 1 to 4 GB. The "scratch disks" will consist of a RAID 0 array using WD600Gb of 3-4 disks of 10 K on a map of the Areca shortstroked.
What is the best band size for a 3-4 record for large images? Adobe publishes how they R/W for scratch disk, block size, etc?

    Larry

Usually data written Photoshop scratch in the size of the tiles in the image (as seen in the preferences).

To save the files, we write big buffers, and the buffer size may vary according to the format options and compression.

In addition, it is not really a model.

And the best settings for your table will much depend on the controller and the drives used.

  • Optimal allocation size Toshiba class 2 16GB Micro SDHC

    Hi-

Be gentle, please. I'm newly registered here and not sure I found the right forum to post this question.

I have a Micro SDHC 16GB class 2 new Toshiba card, just got today. Before that I used it and if it is still under warranty, I wanted to test it for authenticity with H2TestW program that requires that I format it all first.

Certainly, I want to keep the default fat32 format but what size of allocation of files is the best?

The card will be used especially in my Sandisk Clip more to play MP3 files. A quick glance shows most of these files to 5 500 to 10 000 KBs.

    Suggestions, please?

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

I use different SD and SDHC cards for years and I always use the default settings for the allocation size. I never had no problem with it.

OK, based on your new information, the error is that Daisy is 206 GB but Windows Explorer reports it as 87GB.

No other information seems more relevant.

    Ideas-

1 run ChkDsk on the drive - [first of all, make sure you have a backup of Daisy or make a new backup always] in Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive & select Properties, then the Tools tab, then click the check now button, turn off the option to make repairs in first to see if there are errors or not before making any decision as repairs can delete or corrupt files which are reported in the file allocation table.

    2. find another utility that measures the size of record to help you track down all the difference here.  TreeSize Free will be repeated.

I do not understand your comment "later, I found the reason why I can't locate the"office"is the language of auto change." It's in Chinese at first but watch the 'bureau' cmd"that this had not been mentioned before.

  • VMFS allocation size recommended?

I wonder what the best practice is to choose the size of allocation in VMFS-3?

You should just go with block size of 8 MB so you can always get the biggest possible vmdk, or are there downsides to this path?

    Thanks for any idea.

    Kevin

It does not really matter with the exception of the maximum file size:
    http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2009/05/14/block-sizes-and-growing-your-VMFS/

would go with the larger size of block to be prepared for large files.

  • How can I maintain the original size of the JPEG file when you import into Photoss?

I noticed that when I use pictures to import images from the SD card in the camera, the images are substantially smaller than when I drag the same image directly from the SD card on the desktop. In general, a 3.6 Mb picture somehow diminishes to about 2.6 MB. I'm wrong and get frustrated to this drop in image quality!

Any help / advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you

In what circumstances you see this small size?

Photos did a bit of copy bit when importing images in its library.  If you drag the thumbnail of an image on the desktop you bet that the preview version, which will have a small file size.

Export the image on the desktop via the file export Export X Unmodified Originals ➙ ➙ menu option will give you the full size file that was imported into the library.

Drag the thumbnail on the desktop will get you the original file.

  • problems with quality vs. file size in export to YouTube 1080 p

    Hello

I used to use NCH videopad as a Publisher began. He had shocking performance but gives really good quality and small size files.

That is to say, I could export 1080 p 30 min video of good quality for YouTube in less than 2 GB file size, but Premiere Elements can

Get anywhere near the same quality, even at 4 GB.

So what I need is someone to tell me the parameters I need.

Currently I export the shadowplay film recorded in 1080 60 fps 50Mbits (according to shadowplay).

If I export to AVCH (whatever) with YouTube Widescreen HD - set it to match the source, I can't

get a good quality. I even put the target at 20 and the other at 18 and it is still grainy quality and file sizes

4 GB. The only way I can get the same quality I received of Videopad is with a 7 GB file into elements.

Today I tried to export a video (30 minutes) and all day trying to find a good setting, and

each parameter gets me grainy footage.

If someone can you please just give me the detailed settings, I need (without the jargon) please.

I think that you need to remove temporarily and advanced then refreshed. Then go through the following.

The first link in your last message does not, but that a second was full of information (really great).

If this is supposed to represent the output of VideoPad, here's the story.

    1. you have an AVCHD.mp4 file MPEG2.mpg is not. The file is 1920 x 1080 @ a progressive frame.

    2. our goal is progressive rate - variable and not constant, noted that the 3 frames rate in playback of video properties...

minimum frame rate = 10,000 frames per second

frame rate = 29,888 frames per second

maximum frame rate = 30,000 images per second

First Elements not managed well with the video recorded with a variable rather than a constant rate. Symptoms range from Premiere Elements of audio desynchronization to not being able to import the video at all. The typical remedy is to take video in the free program of brake hand to get the H.264.mp4 with constant frame rate (29.97) model. Then, you take the export of brake hand in Premiere Elements project using first elements add Media/files and folders.

    https://handbrake.fr/

Also note that VideoPad product export with a low flow, i.e. 7759 Kbps (equivalent to 7.7 Mbps). You were trying for 36 / 50 Mbps in the export of Premiere Elements. It is an explanation of the difference in size of the files that run you in your comparisons of software.

Since you don't seem to be involved with video MPEG2.mpg, I write what follows for information purposes... What do you do with an xml file if you used the 1080p29.97 HDTV high quality predefined with Publish + share/computer/MPEG? You should get a single file, MPEG2.mpg. If you use one of the presets whose name begins with MPEG2 (interlaced preset who is not progressive), then you will get two files, the video file and a file of information m2t.xmlses. Nothing to do with the xml file. All you want is the video file that will be MPEG2.m2t.

Right now I'd take that video in Handbrake for 1920 x 1080p29.97, like H.264.mp4, import this file in Premiere Elements, export as a AVCHD.mp4 MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080 p 30, get a core file line with default transmission speeds and, if necessary, start to lower the bitrate to 8 Mbit / s by looking at the quality.

    Please consider.

    Thank you.

    RTA

Add on... If you need a how tos tos for handbrake, let me know. It is quick and easy with the adjustment under video tab key.

  • Tiny image size when opening files

When I open a file in CC2014 on my iMac it opens in a new window (I have disabled opening in tabs) with an incredibly small size file. The size of the image is fine, but the view is from 0.05% of the original. I'm sure that I clicked on something to make this frustrating situation to happen, but have no idea how to fix this. Any ideas?

Just thought about it - I did the screen of photoshop where orders are small out of the way a bit and when I open the files that he gave them as small as possible to "climb" in the window that I shrunk. I opened it to full size images open fine. I'm a fool. Sorry to waste your time ssprengel

  • Project of bloating and repair in Premiere Pro CS6; The Max project file size? Adobe welcome coders...

    Greetings.

After a few sessions, navigation I have not found a specific problem within a bloat of project management. First; We are always backed up. I have a copy of the restoration of the project to which I have referred herein. Verify that the list.

Several people have posted here and around Creative Cow with problems about a growing using CS6 file size; I look at the files range from 300 MB to 2.8 GB. The unfortunate problem is when the project crosses a magical line that translates into an inability to open, import, export or access the sequences contained therein. Has anyone addressed a solution to repair the first CS6 save files? Reduce file bloat? I saw nothing (remember the days of repair FCP7... of solutions exist because the problems were frequent; fortunately not so bad with Adobe).

Know someone inside the code size file size maximum project first can read? I've created a monster... More than 200 sequences using 4.5 TB of sequences, which extends from Red EXCam MPEG4 and H264 codecs. And for a while, the size of the project was manageable. Then, it inflated. And one day stopped randomly opening. No of auto-enregistre it open.

Just curious. The files are not the problem, but the 2.8 GB backup file is. Specifications of the machine / / etc. are freely available, if needed. a lot of ram, no problem with all projects (just that one beast).

    Jon Michael Ryan

The problem lies in the automatic backup. Disable it. Turn 200 minutes. Save the project yourself. Make your own auto save folder. It has everything, but he healed for us. Now it's turn to Adobe to fix it.
