EXPDB

Hello

Where goes the EXPDP exit so I don't create any directory?

I am running this commnad expdp in OracleHome 10 g client and connect to the database of GR 11, 2. Why is that I have no error?
I thought that EXPDP is very strict in compatibility version db?

Help, please...

Thank you

expdp uses server-side processes to create the dump file. Therefore, the destination directory must be accessible by the process on the database server. (And Oracle directories managed through DBA_DIRECTORIES are always on the server side).

You could set up another server as a NFS server, a directory of export of this server and the NFS mount on the database server. Then use CREATE a DIRECTORY to create a directory in Oracle to use instead of DATA_PUMP_DIR (remember: the underlying operating system directory must already exist).

  • EXPDB & IMPDP db version reqs

    Hi friendz,.

    I read the docs expdp and impdp.
    But he said no there version of database dependencies.
    For example, if a 10g expdp Db output can be imported to 11 g Db and vice versa.

    Any idea?

    Thank you

    for a quick response.

    You can always import an older dumpfile into a database with the parameter of equal or higher compatibility

    You cannot import a newer dumpfile into a database with a lower compatibility setting.

    If you are exporting from a database with a version of 11.2.0.1 and the compatibility setting is 10.2, the generated dumpfile is compatible 10.2 this dumpfile can be imported into anything with a version10.2 or later compatibility setting, but cannot be imported into a database with the compatibility setting less than 10.2.

    Hope this clears some things up.

    Thank you

  • export of database using expdb error

    Hi all
    I have a weird situation right now. I had a windows 2008 Server oracle 11 g machine running and I run to take backup of one of the two databases running in this machine in the USB drive connected to my PC.
    I shared the USB key and gave access to everyone to write. Then map it across to the server.
    then I open it as sys and create the directory in oracle and grant read, write permission as below.
    sqlplus sys/password@TEST2 as sysdba;
    create directory dumpdir as 'U:\dump';
    grant read,write on directory dumpdir to system;

    expdp system/password@TEST2 DIRECTORY=DUMPDIR DUMPFILE=expfull.dmp FULL=y LOGFILE=expfull.txt

  • Turning to Oracle RAC to the only Oracle database

    Hi all

    We are responsible for "make a copy" of Oracle RAC database a customer and our plan is to finish with the FCAC and allows you to host a new unique Oracle database. Very few of us familiar with CARS and looking for suggestions on how to do it (without affecting the source JAR).

    Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    Comments/suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    It is an option. Data pump does not care if the source and/or destination is CARS or a mix. If the database is too large, it can take a lot of time to complete.

    Another option is to use the DOUBLE of RMAN feature. And another option is to restore the database from a backup.

    See you soon,.

    While both exp and expdp produce a file with an "extension" of ".dmp" (default), they are NOT interchangeable.  .dmp exp will not be processed by IMP.  expdp .dmp will not be processed by impdp.

    It will work as "Restoring in the same database (restore the previous working state)"

  • Migration and upgrade EBD Linux Solaris 11 to 12

    Migration and upgrade EBD Linux Solaris 11 to 12

    We want to migrate an existing Oracle EBS from Linux to Solaris and at the same time do a upgrade for R12. The plan is to upgrade an existing EBS 11.5.10 executed under Oracle RDBMS 10.2.5 (Linux) to Oracle EBS 12.1.2 and Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.2.0 on Solaris.

    I don't know what is the best approach for this. My Initial plan is to

    1 Migrate Linux database by creating a new Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.2.0 on solaris and use Rman/expdb to migrate the database on. I can't seem to find any documentation on the migration of the Applications Tier on platform for 11i rel (note Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 438086.1] refers to 12 Rel.

    2. run the Quick Setup (from Solaris) and select the option to perform the upgrade. This will create a tops/directory of the application on my new Solaris database

    3. run the post updated and remedial steps.

    Is - this too simplistic? This approach allows me to bypass the need to pass a Solaris Linux application frameworks

    I believe that this approach is not taken in charge. You must either upgrade can migrate, or migrate then upgrade.

    If you want to upgrade and then migrate, please see:

  • impdb

    Hello

    My client gave me a dump file (which has been taken using expdb), and I need to import in one of my current 10 g database. The dump file has couple of schemas (AAA and BBB).
    I've been using exp/imp to this day and I'm a bit new to expdb/impdb.

    Could someone please tell me how to import the dump expdb file in my environment?
    If someone could explain the syntax, it would be really useful! Your help is greatly appreciated!

    The database version is 10.2.0.4 and the platform is on HP Unix.

    Thank you!

    Full import mode
    The full import mode loads the entire contents of the source to the target database (export) dump file. However, you must have obtained the IMP_FULL_DATABASE role on the target database. Data pump import is called with the impdp command in the command line with the FULL parameter specified in the same command line.

    impdp system $ / DIRECTORY = expdp_dir COMPLETE DUMPFILE = expfull.dmp = y LOGFILE = impfull.log

    Schema import mode
    The schema import mode is called using the SCHEMAS. Only the contents of the specified schemas is to load in the target database. The source dump file can be a full, diagram, table or tablespace export files mode mode. If you have an IMP_FULL_DATABASE role, you can specify a list of schemas to load into the target database.

    $ impdp HR/hr DIRECTORY = expdp_dir DUMPFILE = expfull.dmp SCHEMAS = HR, sh, oe

    Table import mode
    This export mode is specified using the parameter TABLES. In this mode, only the specified tables, partitions and their dependents are exported. If you do not have the role of the permission, you can import only tables in your schema.

    $ impdp HR/hr DIRECTORY = expdp_dir DUMPFILE = expfull.dmp TABLES = employees, jobs, services

    Hello

    How will I know if the DMP file that I got it from someone else, has been created using exp or EXPDB? (I'm just a <....>. DMP)

    It cannot be judged simply by looking at the .dmp file. If you have the log file, check in the log file when the expdp command has been spdficied if he backup has been performed using expdp else which is exp...
