Expiry of assessment ESXi

I have a versioni assessment of vSphere Client/Server (6.0). I have not installed a license key before the expiration of the evaluation period.

Is it possible to save the virtual machines I created on the server for vSphere?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

I answer to my previous post.

It is, is that the link 'Edit' was located across features licensed page. Wrong place!

  • Assessment vs free ESXi

Hello... I hope you can help, because I am pulling my hair out, running around in circles trying to understand this.  I know that VMWare would like to 'sell' things, but they announce a hypervisor VSphere/ESXi 5 'free '... HOW to get the free version - or at least a key to activate/register it?

I went to http://www.vmware.com/go/get-free-esxi/ and follow the guests (I have both connected to an account, I got back to version 3.5 AND created a new job - both with the same result), got ESXi downloaded and installed, but I get a pop-up from the client saying that my assessment has 60 days to the left and click on a link to assign a license.  On using the link, we wonder again at connection, now that I am presented with a registration page.  After completing the registration page, I gives me information on my assessment.  I don't have listed in my VMWare license keys (although I've seen initially a key when first present with my download link)... only an assessment with links on EACH page on how to 'buy' VSphere.

How my free VSphere become only a test and evaluation?  Where can I get a free license for VSphere and how to assign a free license to my VSphere host?

Sorry for the frustration - I would really like to test the waters to implement VMWare to our datacenter upgrade, I've heard great things on this subject, but at this point what does say that Microsoft licensing is WAY easier than VMWare?

    Thank you!

In the vSphere client, click on the server.  Go to the Configuration tab.  Choose "Licensed Features" (to the left of the pane, under 'Software').  Click on "Edit"... "(top right of the pane).

  • Mode of assessment of ESX/ESXi

I'm studying for my review of VCP and had just a quick question on evaluation mode works. I understand that it lasts for 60 days. And my understanding is that both versions features will be unlocked just like you had Enterprise more than licenses. And I know that you can use ESXi for free even after the evaluation mode runs out, although you won't have access to any of the features.

So I have a few questions:

    1. This behavior works for ESX? For some reason, I thought that ESX stops just after 60 days of work, but can find no documentation to prove or disprove that.

    2. this version of licenses considered essential, or it is still lower than that?

    3. can you manage hosts running the free version of ESXi with vCenter after that assessment is in place? Of obviously would not work the features, but I was wondering if you could have multipe ESXi hosts managed by Vcenter runnng in free mode?

    Thank you

(1.) you can evaluate ESXi and ESX and vCenter Server for 60 days. After this period, you will not be able to manage objects in vCenter Server or power on virtual machines unless you add a valid license key. A free license is only available for ESXi.

(2.) the free license fewer features than Essentials. He was named "Hypervisor" on the web pages of VMware.

(3.) the free ESXi (hypervisor) can be managed in vCenter Server.

  • assessment of vSphere/vCenter with ESXi license error

I downloaded vCenter assessment and ESXi 4 software.  I installed ESXi 4 on several different physical servers and configuration of the virtual computer on each of these hosts.  Also made free licenses on those hosts.  Then I installed vCenter assessment with a 90 day trial license.  But when I try to add the ESXi host to vCenter console, I get an error license not available to perform the operation.  How can I get past this so I can continue my assessment of this system?  Thank you.

I think that the reason why you can not return to the eval license is because you have ESXi installed for more than 60 days.  Thus, the period of time eval has expired.  I just confirmed that I can return on a new install of ESXi, return to eval mode, while on a more-than-60 days ESXi host, I can't return to eval mode.

Therefore, you need to reinstall in order to get a 60 day trial 'new' period of time, or buy a license with the desired features.

  • Assess the VC with ESXi hosts

    Hello

I have a number of ESXi hosts and want to evaluate VC and all the features of business with our existing ESXi hosts.

In the documentation for the assessment of the VC2.5, it states that once installed VC and ESX3.5 no license requirements for the first 60 days and that all VI3 functions will be available during this period.

It does not refer to ESXi and how these hosts must be configured (license config) for use with VC and all features, Vmotion, HA, DRS etc.

My understanding is that ESXi hosts should be configured with the database server licenses to allow them to participate in the assessment, as features such as vmotion, etc. require VC/license server bases. Obviously if I was evaluating ESX3.5 then no config would be necessary because it also allows all the features for the first 60 days. ESXi is however not evaluated and thus does not give access to the full functionality for 60 days.

How should the environment be configured to allow the use of CR 60 days eval with ESXi hosts using all the features - vmotion, HA and DRS.

Please can someone explain this for me?

Even when assessing the VC, you need to install a license server is placed just in evaluation mode - this is the server licenses as dolse on DBS licenses, HA and vMotion.

  • Assessment of ESXi 5 more, but now I have no functionality

    Hi all

That will probably be an easy question to answer, but I searched and nothing seems to be relevant.

I use the VMware ESXi 5 hypervisor at home in a test completely environment. The server is a tiny machine that running two virtual machines - 8 GB of RAM, 1 physical CPU (4 cores) host.

I ran the hypervisor through the period 60-day trial and the Manager of the host directly using the vSphere Client. Of course, I will never have the enterprise in this scenario features but expect the host to continue to operate in a limited mode when the evaluation period expires. However, while I can log on to the host by using the vSphere client, I can't start the virtual machines and the customer complains that he has no license with the evaluation period more.

The web registration page requires a serial number or license key, but I have no idea whetre it would be obtained from - I don't see anything obvious in the client.

How can I continue to use the ESXi Hypervisor FREE with limited functionality?

    See you soon,.

    Chris

Go here - http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere-hypervisor/overview.html - click on download and after you login, you should see a license tab and download.  Select it and you should see your specified license key.

In the vSphere client, go to Configuration > licensed feature and add the license key. Then you should be good to go.

  • I thought 5 ESXi free?  VSphere counting down the days of assessment.

I use vSphere Client to access my esxi Server 5 and VMs.  ESXi 5 free, is free Vsphere Client?  If client vsphere is not free, then how can I access my server and the virtual machines for free?

    1. connection to the host using vSphere Client
    2. Select host
    3. tab Configuration
    4. Click "Features licensed" under the software section
    5. Click on 'Edit' in the corner right uper
    6. Select "assign a new license key to this host.

  • Cannot open Server ESXi 4.0 from the assessment of vCenter Server has expired. Help, please

By mistake, I forgot to remove an ESXi, vCenter server after the expiration of the evaluation period. Now I can not open vSphere client (for particular ESXi) and cannot access (via vSPhere client 4) one of my virtual machines. Is it possible (except re installation) to access vSphere client?

Hi cele0503. Can you connect to the host ESXi itself (instead of the Victoria Cross) and then change the license to this particular host, that host > configuration > licensed features and then change depending on there?

  • Small tips ESXi deployment/assessment

Hello. I would like to try something on ESXi free edition deployment before committing to all kinds of licenses. I have two quad core intel E5405 with 24 GB RAM for virtual machines and dual gigabit ethernet. Each machine has 2 WD RE3 drives 7200 SATA 1 TB I can mirror. I'm not sure that's the best configuration first. I would get 5 4 GB VM by machine. I am concerned about a material (IE what might work better) and backup software strategy (I read that esxi is limited). I got my network remotely to start and stop VMS as well to understand the health of virtual machines are important. I have IPMI on these machines therefore have significant ability to remote control on the equipment itself. I wish that this deployment do not have to change that much if I decide to license and which can resemble this path. Looking for advice. Thank you very much.

  • Assessment of ESXi 6.0.0 does not web client

Is it still possible? I downloaded 6.0.0 earlier today and I can't access the web client at all. I just get 404 errors in all browsers on client machines (Windows 7). A new version was apparently released today (07/07/15) marked 6.0.0b. I tried to download that but keep having refused - I am not allowed. I'll tell you what I like, and it is EXTREMELY frustrated with these ridiculous antics web site. When I register for the new version I am always presented with the download of the former. I don't have the time in my life for this nonsense. Hyper-V can be rosy just now...

You need a vCenter installed to use the web client

Web client can connect to the vCenter only

vSphere client can connect to the host or vCenter

I ise 1.3 and windows 7, both are VMS on esxi I need to test some features such as the CWA, assessment of provisioning and the posture of the Client on windows 7.

I don't know how to place a (physical or nexus 1000v) cisco switch and connect the windows vm on this subject, so I can start my tests.

I know a lot of people have done this, but I couldn't find a clear instructions on how to complete the configuration.

    Hi KB,

Try to set up the two devices in same vlan first and test your strategies.

Just add vlan switch with number 10 or whatever it is and connected ports or the virtual card on vlan 10 for connectivity.

    It could be that useful...

  • 2 ESXi con vsphere

    Buenas a todos

Estoy metiendome poco a poco in el mundillo vmware y estoy a poco perdido. Tengo back ESXi (of time of assessment), lo quiero're montar several office maquinas y cuando to caiga UN levantarla in el otro host. Tengo instaladdo vcenter in one of the host, he created a datacenter is a cluster. Pero claro, if to me cae el host donde tengo el vcenter wont, is no to como levantar Máquina en el otro host.

After set perform the tests in the laboratory, estoy pensando in buy back licenses of essentials (no more than la). Not tender HA, etc. pero creo as para start fits a valer.

¿Me podeis help con estos pasos first?

    Gracias

If a tener "HA" manual, means any license you have, are decir, no you hace falta or vCenter or nada por el estilo.

SE cae a servidor, las maquinas office is apagaran, entonces you conectas al otro ESXi desde vSphere Client's register las VM in ESXi este y las enciendes: Aquí tienes a enlace como una Máquina virtual registrar: VMware vSphere 5.1

Decir, vCenter instant, not you hace falta para nada. El're vCenter crítico para poder manage todo desde a unico punto y configurar a cluster DRS HA, para, vMotion, Storage vMotion etc., pero para lo you comment, don't you hace falta en you infrastructure.

    A greeting.

  • ESXi Trial - what happens then?

    Hello

First of all, what I am trying to build is a small laboratory at home that I can use to test some Microsoft server products. I already used vmware esxi but mainly used and installed Xen server for the last 4-5 years. I mainly use a NUC Intel and a small SAN storage (category House). But any means this is a production environment of all kinds.

So, I started a new Eval of vSphere 6, downloaded and installed ESXi ISO image (includes VMware Tools) later at the time of writing (2015-07 / 07 | 6.0.0b | 348,50 MB | iso)

Installed client tools and successfully connected to the host running on the NUC esxi. I was warned that the server is not an appropriate license and started the 60-day trial. I intend to install vSphere vCenter Server to a trial as well.

Doubt / my question is: what happens to the expiration of the 60 day trial with ESXI installation? I understand that vCenter will stop working and I'm happy with the one that 60 days will be enough for me to trial it and because Im only build a laboratory of a host, there is not much anyway that I will conduct trials.

However, I don't want to continue to use the laboratory that will perform on the ESXI host after the expiry of the 60 day trial. I remember on previous versions, there was a free version of the hypervisor. I hope that has not changed, otherwise I'll stick to other hypervisors.

    Thank you @Crashthegooner.

I actually find myself responses on other forums (outside)

After the 60 day trial, ESXI without proper license NOT automatically turns in the free version of ESXI. Although he will continue to run, it will not allow power on virtual machines (I have will continue to operate all the virtual machines that were still in progress). Which is not ideal for my lab.

As mentioned vCenter will stop working.

However, there is a way to generate your license key for ESXI and begins an Eval of VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 - https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6

In addition to the Eval vSphere. (if you want to evaluate vSphere, otherwise, just download the hypervisor)

Download of the hypervisor is buried deep in the vmware Web site.

    Welcome to the community,

A free license key (don't) does not have to be registered online. All you need to do is assign the license key to the hsot ESXi. For details, see section "Licensing a stand-alone ESXi host ' to VMware KB: ESXi 5.x and vCenter Server 5.x license.

  • Standard Cisco Custom Image vs ESXi ESXi VMware image

How the image Cisco Custom ESXi differ from the standard image of VMware ESXi, and how is it important to use Cisco image when the material of the UCS is used to run ESXi?

It is not a problem in itself. The ISOs of VMware GA come with drivers for real Cisco VMware team has put at their disposal to the release date.

Cisco made its own assessment of the release of vSphere, and if they determine that an updated driver is needed, they release a.

The recommended practice is to check the compatibility UCS site to confirm the version numbers of driver that you use depending on your combination of hardware, UCS version and version of vSphere.
