  • Disable the Group Policy registry change

Initially, I was surprised that, by default, run the Publisher of the registry (regedit) under a standard user account does not have administrative credentials.

Then I realized that if the administrative credentials are required for editing the registry, virtually all configuration changes would require a command prompt. Also, I learned that UAC controls only the registry keys it considers administrative. Thus, for example, standard users can edit and create the registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but no other hives.

All well and good, but I want to disable my standard user 10 year of directly editing the registry.

At work, we have Win7 enterprise. I'm a standard user to work and I can't even open the registry editor. I get a message "registry editing has been disabled by your administrator". I assume that there is a group policy setting.

At home we have Win 7 Professional, which is the Group Policy Editor. Can I create a policy to prevent standard users to start the registry editor, and perhaps for the same message, I see at work?

Facts: OS Vista Ultimate 32 bit

    Antivirus - Eset NOD32
ESET prompted me to leave with the latest updates window, made it regularly, menu updates box Eset Windows open.  I accept the standard updates. Computer needs to restart to complete the installation.  I accept.  Windows restarts comp, I connect, BONE implements internal whatnot.  Screen turns off, a blue screen, stop, restart cycle begins = restart - screen down - blue - boot in SafeMode etc.   Finally, I use the Vista ultimate installation disc to break the cycle.    I repair the startup procedure, then restore point 3 days for a previous backup of the system.  Now I get "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon.  Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service".
What should do? What should do?  Buy a Mac?

    Hello PatrickRatley,

Often we see odd behavior as the result of a program from loading at startup.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following article describes this process:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

If it does not and this ends up really being something to do with group policy, you can post in our TechNet forums:

Try rebooting and tapping F10 to achieve the recovery screen

You can choose to repair or restore your system

Select Restore to an earlier time

If it is impossible to do the above, use the installation start screen repair DVD

  • Cannot connect administrator account. Error - the Group Policy Client service has no logon. Access is denied

Original title - MESSAGE of ERROR

    Hello

I am runnung Windows Vista on my laptop Toshiba A200. As of a few days ago, asking that I try to open a session (I'm the admin), I get an error message saying "the Group Policy Client service does not log. Access is denied. »

I managed to get in the "back door" through my wife and did a system full scan with Norton and Spybot and neither found anything unusual. He asked me to change my user account settings, but of course, because my wife is not the admin, he won't let my do changes.

In addition, some of my software, such as Final draft, also seem to have vaporized.

    Help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve Hayward

    Hi stevehayward

    1. is the computer on a domain?
    2. during how long have you had this problem?

If the computer is not connected to the domain, you can start in safe mode, and then try to perform a system restore.
    Step 1
    :
In safe mode; you have access to only the drivers and base files. Check out the link to start the computer in safe mode and then check-
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:
You can perform a restore of the system to a previous point, when the issue was not present. The System Restore tool uses points of restore to return the system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time where you have not experienced the problem.

Note: When you use System restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To do this, there must be a restore point from the system in which the connection was successful.

Please refer to the below of the help links on performing a system restore.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore

  • Why windows does not connect to the Group Policy client?

I am currently using a dell inspiron with windows 7 Edition 7720 Home premium and recently a message started to appear above my taskbar saying

"Unable to connect to a windows service.
Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service. The problem prevents standard users to log on to the system.
As long as administrator, you can go through the system event log to see why the service failed"
Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

The resolution is quite easy. Ignore all these tech geeks here and on other sites that just want to show how they can play with the registers - a very dangerous game.  Go to search, type in cmd, open cmd as administrator.  Type exactly this (with the indicated spaces): netsh winsock repair, and then press ENTER. You need to restart (NOT close and turn on) your computer. Bingo! Unfortunately, this condition can re - occur from time to time, as if you start your computer before you turn on your internet connection and establish a good connection.  Don't worry the fix takes about 3 to 5 minutes depending on your speed of restart computer.

  • Windows 7 Edition home premium error "Windows cannot connect to the Group Policy client service."

Original title: guest for Windows 7 Home Premium account

    Hi all

I would like to aid which has had to face the problem below and how it was fixed.

I have Window 7 Edition home premium and created a guest account with normal privileges that is turned on but cannot access with the error "Windows could not connect to the Group Policy client service" I think that the main problem is related to a policy because when put on the account to administer it in pop, error message says 'Cannot connect to a windows service' Please check group policy log.

Thank you very much in advance

    Hello

Thank you for your time and effort to get back to us, and I apologize for the delay in responding.

Method 1 step number d makes reference to the present Details tab on the event viewer, where you can get the details of the error. First, search for the error which will be something like Windows cannot process extension Client Strategy Group-side and click on the error and then click the Details tab and make a note of the GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) for the extension defective client-side. For reference, see the screenshot:

Now come to step f number , it indicates the location of the Group Policy Extensions so that you can check if the extensions shown in the case log and the Registry Editor extension have a difference. The path of the GPExtension is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions. For reference, see the screenshot:

Let us know if the steps are clear to understand now. If this isn't the case, we will be happy to help you further.

    Thank you.

  • In the Group Policy Editor, how to remove link purple (clicked)?

In the Group Policy Editor, I clicked on the links. The links are 'policy setting' and 'properties' (as shown in the screenshots). The links turned purple after I clicked on them. It shows not only on the specific links I clicked on. It shows on all the links that have a 'properties' or link "policy setting. Before they were blue. Does anyone know how to restore them back to blue? I tried Group Policy link purple', "how to remove purple link in Group Policy" and expressions similar but have found no relevant results.
