Explorer Windows will not maximize. Stuck on the taskbar.

Original title: EXPLORER WINDOWS MAXIMISERA NOT. STUCK ON THE TASKBAR

When try to open windows Explorer (rt click on start, choose Open Windows Explorer) OR when I try to see my computer I get an icon in my taskbar, but when I click on the item, nothing happens. When I click once again, I see it's to minimize the program as if the program had been opened the far, far right of my screen. My computer is fairly recent. Few programs are installed. No virus and no malware. It drives me crazy. I need to move things and create some folders and I can't see the contents of my computer.

The window open off-screen.

How can I move a window off the screen in Windows 7?

  • Window will not be aligned on the menu bar in El Capitan

Finally made the switch to El Capitan, and I found a very annoying cosmetic problem.

My windows don't line up with the menu bar and show a thin my bottom line between the window and the menu bar. As my background is white with a repeated image, it irks me.

It is the bar of menus with the window below.

It is as high as it allows me to put the window.

I tried to reset my computer. I was wondering if it was just google Chrome, but it happens with all application windows. Record: I use a model of Macbook Pro retina 15 inch, early 2013 with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor. I have 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. There are 251 GB flash with 96,18 GB of free memory.

I used to be able to align windows with the menu bar. It's embarrassing for me and let me know how to solve this problem. Thank you.

Well, I don't know what happened, but now it is well aligned. I did not anything special for my computer. Very strange. I hope that no one else had this problem because I don't know how it was fixed.

  • Windows will not start after replacing the motherboard

To begin, I must say that I am pretty clueless when it comes to computer skills.

To summarize, I sent my CPU to a repair shop when my computer has stopped working. I removed my hard drive before starting the repairs because it contains confidential data.  They have narrowed the cause to a faulty motherboard and replaced by a new dissimilar.
At the store, the guy had a vista 64 bit recovery disc so I have it home and tried to fix it. He said it will be a breeze and relatively bug free. As part of the Startup Repair, I tried to drive the Startup Repair, and tests were all successful except one. An error of diagnosis readings
"Unspecified system configuration changes may have caused the problem.
Repair action: repair and checking the integrity of system files
    Result: failed. Error code 0 x 490
    time taken = 720023 ms
Everything I've done has led to a brief blue screen to the Windows loading screen and then it restarts itself.
I also tried to restore to the previous two points, but it has also led to the square - a brief blue screen after the loading screen and restarts on its own windows. I'm not ready to reinstall vista and I can't afford to do it too, because I don't have enough disk space to perform another installation. Nor am I willing to reformat one of my two disks.
If you need additional information on the specifications of the material that must be provided, ask me.
IM at my end intelligence now, and I really hope to solve this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but you have to completely reinstall the operating system after replacing the motherboard with a different motherboard.

"Startup Repair" is exactly that: a start NOT a repair system repairs

What has happened, it is the operating system on your hard disk contains the drivers for the old motherboard and does not and you can't change drivers in doing what you do.

The only way to solve this problem is to reinstall Vista.

You wipe the hard drive and restart and make sure that the repair shop gave you the disc to install the new drivers of motherboard after you reinstall vista or download on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard.

And here a question for you to consider, too.

If you bought a copy of Vista retail yourself, you can use the method above to a new installation and then install the new disk motherboard drivers.

But, if your computer is a trademark of purchased manufacturer, HP, Toshiba, etc., you can not change the motherboard that the license of Vista OEM is stuck at motherboard the origin of the manufacturer that it has been installed on and now you canceled your Vista license.

    See you soon.

  • Envy 17 j120na: 10 Windows will not start because of the driver installation failed

    History:

I have a computer laptop j120na Envy 17 that came with windows 8.1.

I did the free upgride for windows 10 the 18th of this month with success, but because I was not able to decrease or increase the brightness of my computer, or put it to sleep, I realized that I still had to download/update drivers. First I updated the driver GeForce since my SWsetup folder but for the other, I searched online for her, then I saw the driver download progress bar but no progress has been made. I closed the dialog close and there you go, laptop does not start, I just saw a spark between the mouse pointer and the circular blue contraption. Sometimes he shows me a BSOD with lock core auto boost with irql higher acquisition.

    Question:

Is this a problem with the driver installation? And if so, how do I return it?

P.s: System Restore is not an option, I restore point.

    Hi there @Aj1baba,

Thank you for joining the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and assistance of HP and the community! I read your post on the Forums of HP Support. I wanted to join you and help! I understand that you are receiving an error message that says "acquisition of lock core auto boost with irql high ' on your HP ENVY 17-j120na Notebook PC.

The question could be deemed to occur by downloading the update. It is difficult to say at this stage. As to return to it, your best bet would have been the restoration of the system, but you mentioned only that a system restore does not work because you do not have restore points.

Have you tried to go into Safe Mode?

You have media or recovery disk?

Have you tried to do a Reset BIOS?

Have you tried perform a hard reset?

You have beep codes or flashing LEDs?

Please ensure that all Bluetooth device that you use with the laptop is disabled (including mobile phone).

Please note: delete all USB/Bluetooth devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

You can update all your drivers by going to the Web site the driver HP or by using the HP Support Assistant. If you enter Safe Mode, I suggest trying to erase the driver that you have downloaded your downloads (or the folder that you saved it in), so I suggest to make updates using updates of Windows or HP Support Assistant for now.

The solution to both of these post say is to disable the update is not tried to be applied, however, I use Windows 10 and it seems to be an option to ignore an update than previous versions of windows.

What are 10 Windows users supposed to do when they are run this problem?

    Hello:

As you know, Windows 10 has made it impossible to hide or ignore updates (or so it seems).

I found this tool from Microsoft that allows you to hide updates that don't work, or mess up your PC if they work, (as a synaptics touchpad update has done on my laptop).

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3073930

I saved this tool on my PC for use in the future if necessary.

  • Vista will not start - stuck on the progress bar with MS logo

Yesterday afternoon, my HP desktop PC would not initialize. The progress bar would be continually scroll down with MS logo, and it will never change. I tried unplugging all USB ports and running system recovery. This morning, the PC said something to the tune of «this machine could not be restored...» If you have recently made a hardware change try to return to your old configuration. If problems persist, please contact your administrator. »

We had the machine for about 18 months with no problems at all. It is equipped with AMD processors and is running 32-bit Vista Home Premium. I currently have anti-virus protection of software and spyware. I don't think that the office came with a recovery CD. There is a restore disc but I don't know if that was consulted. I tried to boot normally and repair the command prompt startup files with no luck.

I hope that we bought the extended warranty from Staples, but meanwhile information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    lucasmartin,

The Advanced Boot Options menu lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting mode. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. Try the loads up in safe MODE , there may be some drivers that are corrupt or using last known good Configuration.

  • Satellite L850 - Win8.1 will not let me install the chipset drivers

    Hello

After I've upgraded to pro 8.1 windows 64 bit 64-bit windows 8 (preinstalled), I thought that windows will not let me install the chipset drivers (downloaded from "toshiba site" for windows 8.1 pro 64-bit), but they stay with windows drivers installed for them.
The Device Manager displays all installed and properly using. In addition, during the implementation was executed to install the chipset driver, he skipped most of them, to install a missing driver only (unfortunately have not kept any screen to show). I tried to install using the Device Manager (automatic search or manually navigating the computer files downloaded from the site), but it keeps saying that the drivers are up-to-date (drivers with the version from 2006, when later seen on the site are 2014). Any suggestion what to do?

    Model name: Satellite L850-1MK
Version of the operating system: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 6.3.9600

    Hey... good news.

  • Firefox shows upwards on the taskbar but will not maximize when clicking on window

I tried re installation, but when I click the icon it will appear on the taskbar but will not maximize.

It is a more detailed explanation of the above.

Sometimes, a window is "off the screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the search for the start bar menu (or Windows 8.1 may bar charms bar research?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

create dvd Windows will not import the mp4, how to get around it, someone knows?

It must convert your mp4 to WMV format video, and then add the wmv in Windows DVD Maker.

There are other formats supported by Windows, but I chose WMV format because it is the most reliable and foolproof format for Windows.

You can google for a free video converter. No need to buy one, unless you are a 'huge' in the making of films and others.

I use Prism video converter. It's free.

I'm not fan of movie maker. Prism is what I need it to do.
