Export book / document InDesign CC to CS6

Is it possible to export a whole book (indb) file and import it into the CS6 version?

The only way we found is to export each document as IDML, which should allow, in theory, open us cc. But who does not help for the book. Is there maybe a plugin or something?

In addition, export as IDML does not work for the document, for that we need, it gets stuck at 65%. I tried to open an older version (which opens in CS6) and exported cs6, but this did not work either.

So is there another way to move the file to CS6 while keeping the format and layout intact?

It there is no format file .indb Exchange, nor would it help since the .indb would still point to the original component .indd files. You must export each .indd to .idml, and then open those in the earlier version and save as new files .indd and adds a new book .indb file. You can use the Peter Kahrel batch conversion tool to make .idml files: Free script Batch convert/export InDesign documents. Peter Kahrel

I work in a book file for a catalogue consisting of individual records. Each sheet is its own InDesign file because we use them separately, but at the same time have the version more up-to-date in the book. So this was our "simple" solution InDesign won't allow me to export the file of the book in PDF format, unless I have break in two PDF files so I can merge the file in Acrobat. It works fine, but I want to fix the original problem. I checked if all the files have been corrupted, but did not find a problem, then I wonder if there are too many InDesign file in the book. Is there a limit to how many files InDesign you can place in a book?

  • exporting files from indesign cs3 to cs6

Hi, I changed my computer and the version of indesign cs6 repeat myself all the cs3 indd files that I try to open, they are damaged.

the files are not damaged.on my old mac I can still open them easily, and the new computer's mac as well.

    Thanks for your help

There is no export from CS3 to CS6 CS6 should be able to open it.

But if it fails, yo may try to export as INX of CS3 and open it in CS6 and save as a new INDD. Attention, the INX file must be saved in the same location that the INDD file is registered to find his images related to the CS6.

  • Question to export PDF from Indesign book Blurb - color change

    Hello

This is my first post on the Adobe forum.

I have a problem when you export a PDF file that is intended to be printed for a book Blurb. The Preview on the site blurb is very different from my PDF in terms of colors.

    This is my workflow:

-All my photos are converted to CMYK blurb (via photoshop) color profile and saved as TIFF.

-J' I put all my pictures on my layout in Indesign CS6 (which also has the color of the text of presentation profile)

    - Then I set the PDF export preset that Blurb has provided (the profile description [based on 'Blurb PDF X - 3 Export Preset'] [based on ' [PDF / X-3: 2002]'] use these parameters to create Adobe PDF documents that should be verified or must conform to PDF / X-3: 2002, an ISO standard for graphic content exchange.)  For more information on the creation of PDF/X-3 compliant PDF documents, please visit the Acrobat User Guide.  Created PDF documents can be opened with Acrobat and Adobe Reader 4.0 and later.]

-C' is where the problem begins: if I read the PDF with Adobe reader, it seems very well (i.e. I see on my screen of Indesign) SEE IMAGE 1. But if I look at the preview of the PDF on the Blurb Book Preview module it looks like really bad (see IMAGE 2).

    So my question is:

What might explain my PDF looks so different from the preview Blurb and what step should I take to fix this problem?

Blurb people have no idea so I hope that the Adobe community can help me!

    Thank you in advance!

    Vincent

I recommend that place your images in InDesign as sRGB (you need to go back to the original images, not those who are already converted to CMYK). When you have finalized your document InDesign export presets PDF Acrobat, by selecting the text of presentation PDF presets (that you have installed). You can view the PDF result using Acrobat on your own (probably calibrated monitor).

  • You can export a folder InDesign CC book to individual PDF files?

This has been a problem for a long time with InDesign for me, you can manually select the files in the folder from the book and export them, or open each file and export this path instead.

You cannot export the folder from the book as individual PDF files only in the form of entire file.

There is a Script, see the link: export specification documents to PDF | Peter Kahrel, who has worked on earlier versions of InDesign, but doesn't seem to work on the CC.

Can someone point me in the direction of another script or fastest solution?

HM, just tested Peter Kahrel's script with some fake documents in the latest version of InDesign CC - 2014.2 on OSX 10.10.3.

Tried once, had the same problem: rotation for a few minutes beach ball. Did not wait an hour, but complete InDesign after five minutes.

Restart InDesign, tried again, and then the script of Peter worked very well.

The export of my six fake documents takes only a few seconds.

  • Please, I was faced with problems when creating a new book in Indesign CS6!

Hello! I'm going to talk to you about my problem: I work for a COMPUTER company in the Brazil and we have developed a five - hundred page manual in Indesign CS6 software.

Then, we decided that each chapter would be an .indd (document Indesign CS6) and that these 27 chapters would be part of a book (.) INDB).

Finally, we got our book in the first revision (.) (PDF). In June, we copied our first revision in order to create a second.

We recorded the second revision of the book (.) INDB) in June 2013. Now, in September, we tried to open this book, once again, to no avail...

The second revision opens the first review! It's as if we have not saved our second revision, but I'm sure that we did.

So, please I would like to know:

    (1) what we were wrong in this whole process of creation of new books;

    (2) if it is possible to import a PDF in Indesign CS6, because our PDF is right, but we have our unchangeable.

I'll be grateful for any help!

    Thanks in advance!

Making copies does not work the way you think that with books.

A file .indb is naoual a collection of pointers to the individual files and make a copy, even if you copy individual files, not is not updated where the .indb showed up.

There are two options here. PACKAGE the book and again work package, or make a new .indb file and add your copied .indd files.

  • Problem of a Photoshop CC in a document InDesign CS6 image preview

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this question, but here goes!

Today, I launched Photoshop CC for the first time. Running on Mac OS 10.8.5. Seems to work well. I can see previews of the images in my windows in the finder without problem. BUT... when I go to place a new Photoshop CC image in a document, InDesign CS6 and place you in the correct folder the new images I saved today have no overview. The oldest recorded in Photoshop CS6 preview very well.

I return to Photoshop CS6 to get this working correctly? Any notice received with gratitude.

    Thank you

  • My styles are stripped when exporting multiple documents to the export of the ebook.

    Hello

I'm new to InDesign and use it to export the ebook, multiple documents created by different sources.

When I exported the document my styles have shown an unpredictable reaction, they are different than expected.

    What should do?

I need to clear this mess urgenlty...

no idea what is the cause?

    Hi Vpalli,

In fact when you export using book there is a document (outside of the ones you export) called as the style source.

This document governs how and what is the definition of a particular style throughout the book.

So your amended definition of styles can be because of the conflict that would have occurred in the definition of styles of various documents and source of style.

So, you can check and mark the source of style appropriate to govern export full ebook.

  • Hi, is it possible to change the names of files that export out of indesign while packing?

Hi, is it possible to change the names of files that export out of indesign while packing?

For example, I can change the "Font of the Document" folder to export as a "document-fonts"?

I ask because our naming structure requires without capital letters and no spaces. Spaces are replaced by dashes (-).

And it would be nice if it was always exported as needed, instead of having to go back and change the names of files.

    Thank you! Much appreciated!

Which cannot be changed without having a bad effect,. The name "Document fonts" is special. When you compress a file with fonts in a folder using exactly this name, InDesign know that these policies should be open and will be used in the document to the other end. If you name this file anything else, InDesign ignore fonts and the recipient will have to open the fonts manually.

If you have decided to change the folder names, you will need to do once the package created, perhaps with a script.

  • TIF / TIFF support of import in Indesign CS5.5 / CS6

    Hello

I can't find a reference for the limits of the type of TIFF file as Indesign CS5.5 / CS6 can support.

for example, Indesign cannot import a TIFF file with CCITT Group 4 compression / CCITT Group 3

I thought Indesign can support all kinds of TIFF and I was denied when I tried to import a TIFF file with compression CCITT 4 (black and white TIFF).

"Error occurred during reading of TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible. Re-save the image with different settings, and then try again. »

Can anyone confirm this import TIFF CCITT Group 4 and CITT Group 3 compression is not supported (and Indesign can only import TIFF LZW, ZIP support or no compression) (Honours)?

It seems odd that Indesign adjustable CCITT Group 4 as a format of compression to monochrome images in the PDF export options export but does not support in its import options. Am I missing a plugin/update that can do this?

Also, can someone point me to a list of graphic images that Indesign can import (preferably with detailed information that he may have subsets that are not supported)?

    I can only find " " http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/CS/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6bdea.h tml ".

    Thank you

Beyond the information provided by Steve Werner...

It is true that Photoshop cannot save an image on two levels (i.e. single bit monochrome) TIFF CCITT Group 4 compresses (or group 3-compresses).

However, Acrobat Pro can save PDF as CCITT Group 4 compressed TIFF Group 3

And I confirm that InDesign cannot place a CCITT Group 4 or group-3 compressed TIFF image.

Ironically, Photoshop can open TIFF CCITT Group 4 compressed files but when simply save even saves TIFF compressed into ZIP files.

So, the quickest way for the placement of your CCITT Group 4 TIFF files compressed in InDesign is to simply open and resave the TIFF files in Photoshop.

Yes, a hack villain, but it allows you to work around this limitation.

  • Export the Document

I have a compressed file I am trying to export.  I have my file opens in the file, I export my document and it does nothing.  When I try to close the file, he said. InDesign cannot close the document because it is used by one or more substantive tasks.  I have to force close InDesign to get out of this.

It doesn't do it every time, but more I want to mess with it.   I'm doing something wrong?

That should fix it. As I said, suspended to export was a bug in the first release of CS5, and it has been corrected.

  • How to export the document to PDF with CMYK colors

    Hello

I use Indesign to create the journal.

When I export the document to a PDF, is not CMYK, RGB only looks like. What I can do create pdf in CMYK to print? I already tried all the compresions in export settings, but nothing has changed.

    [sory for my languade skills..]

Oh yes, I see. But the destination color profile does not need to be CMYK in his name to give you output CMYK. Try one of the ICC profiles from the beginning of the category (divided by a black line in the menu drop-down) with "Coated FOGRA27", "Coated FOGRA39", etc., and you will see that you will output CMYK ultimately (all this category ICC profiles are based CMYK output profiles).
