Issue export book file InDesign to PDF, is there too much InDesign documents?

I work in a book file for a catalogue consisting of individual records. Each sheet is its own InDesign file because we use them separately, but at the same time have the version more up-to-date in the book. So this was our "simple" solution InDesign won't allow me to export the file of the book in PDF format, unless I have break in two PDF files so I can merge the file in Acrobat. It works fine, but I want to fix the original problem. I checked if all the files have been corrupted, but did not find a problem, then I wonder if there are too many InDesign file in the book. Is there a limit to how many files InDesign you can place in a book?

It will be more addressable RAM problem...

  • InDesign, address book files, place objects, package the project

I want to use a book file to combine several smaller files (let's call them "chapters").

Each of my chapters has a number of objects (cmd - D).

I said who placed objects remain outside the main .indd file and allow re-binder if one of these files is updated or replaced.

I use the package tool menu to combine all the fonts placed objects and .indd (and PDF) file in one folder.

I want to know how to use the objects placed in the chapters that are contained in a book file, and how to package everything when I'm done.

Where each of the files belong (in which folder); and how they are organized when I pack them?

How to make a copy of all of the compressed file, to start working on a new iteration [review] the entire book?

I watched the tutorials and read what I can find.

I can't find answers to how working together package, the book and the place .

    Thank you.

    • So you place graphics and text files in an InDesign doc (we'll call it aCHAPTERc) and use the features of InDesign to arrange a nice layout.
    • Repeat this process for each chapter.
    • Collect all of the chapters in a book for the paging file, generate a Table of contents, may be a clue.

Now what? If you want to print, you can export the book to PDF and send it out for professional printing. Or you can package the book (use the menu of the control panel in the upper right of the book panel) and collect everything you need for printing through InDesign in a single project file, as well as folders nested for fonts and graphics. The zip file and send it out for professional printing.

These days, providing a high-resolution PDF is more common. So, why use the package? Let's say you're not particularly organized. (I am and always start with a project folder and subfolders and put everything that relates to this project in these folders.) But let's say you're not. You can still use the package afterwards, just to collect and copy all of the assets of the project in a new folder (assets include book and chapter files, fonts, graphics and .idml file and a .pdf print quality). Zip, archive and you are ready, when someone says: "Hey, can I get a copy of this article moved you 10 years ago? What is happening to me more that you would think!

  • How to reduce the size of Indesign documents PDF export?

I wonder if there is a way for Indesign reduce the size of page of a multiple page document?

    I have a 38 page book that has a page size of 9 "x 8"... so the spread size is 9 "x 16".

I want this in order to reduce the size of the exported PDF file.

So if there is a way to reduce the size of PDF, that would work too.

I looked everywhere but could not find a function that allows you to reformat and save this document to a 50 percent reduction, for example.

Is there such a feature with Indesign on CS1? (or one of the more recent versions CS?)

Currently the smallest PDF I can export this document is 8 MB. (it contains a lot of graphics)

I want to get that figure up to 3 MB or more.

I have the dpi all reduced to 72 dpi... which has helped to reduce the PDF of the original 58 MB.

But how is it possible to make it even smaller for emailing?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

And in the process you'll find yourself with a flattened PDF. If you send to a client for proofing, be prepared to explain that these ugly white lines in all directions does not print it. And when they print to a desktop printer and print some lines, you'll have a problem of real credibility on your hands.

    Just a warning.

  • Export book / document InDesign CC to CS6

Is it possible to export a whole book (indb) file and import it into the CS6 version?

The only way we found is to export each document as IDML, which should allow, in theory, open us cc. But who does not help for the book. Is there maybe a plugin or something?

In addition, export as IDML does not work for the document, for that we need, it gets stuck at 65%. I tried to open an older version (which opens in CS6) and exported cs6, but this did not work either.

So is there another way to move the file to CS6 while keeping the format and layout intact?

It there is no format file .indb Exchange, nor would it help since the .indb would still point to the original component .indd files. You must export each .indd to .idml, and then open those in the earlier version and save as new files .indd and adds a new book .indb file. You can use the Peter Kahrel batch conversion tool to make .idml files: Free script Batch convert/export InDesign documents. Peter Kahrel

  • Name column of very narrow file in the PDF export window

No one knows why the left column (file name) would be very, very close in the dialog box when you export an ID doc to PDF? And how it could be improved? See screen capture attached. This isn't a huge problem, but it's annoying to always see truncated file names, which are often very similar, and so I'll have to go up and widen the column permanently. Widen the column

I tested to ensure that it is not a thing of the OS (Mac OS 10.6.8). That I was able to determine, it happens in only two cases: export an InDesign (CS5.5) file in PDF format and in conditioning the file. Does not occur when you open a file ID, or save slot - in InDesign or any other application in the Suite. Does not occur in other non-Adobe applications.

Thanks in advance, and as usual, I'll be embarrassed to find that there is a simple solution.

  • How can I get a really big InDesign (30 MB) file into a PDF file less than 10 MB?

It is a document of 20 pages, including dozens of pictures and a few vector graphics which are .pdf or .ai, respectively. All are links, not integrated. I created the document for printing, but now need a version to display on a Web site that has a maximum size of 10 MB.

I tried a lot of things, including:

    • Choose export to Adobe PDF format as "smallest file size".
    • Size reduction in all related photos Photoshop. (FYI, they now range from 1 MB to 4 MB)
    • Save the PDF as a PDF of reduced size.
    • When you export to PDF, compress images to 72 dpi. (This made me the smallest size I could get: a little more than 18 MB)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    -Melissa

Once more, since it's only for the web, try to save copies (file > export) your files HAVE as hi-res JPG, then using the jpg files in a copy of your InDesign file. Make your PDF and see if the size is acceptable. It is a faster way to test that juggle the vector files to reduce points of control, etc.

  • Export book to PDF

    Several problems here:

    First of all.

If I select all the files in the book and export book to PDF, I get all the PDF presets and many options.  However, it prints always single page, and none of the videos work.

    You can also.

If I select all the files and export to PDF book, I get a smaller page with fewer options.  With this, I get double pages, and videos work.  So far so good.  But if I select 'single page', it still gives me a double page (as on the layout of the book).

    .

There are two types of PDF, print or Interactive, selectable from the drop-down list in the export dialog box. Looks like you have selected print first interactive and the second. Default interactive PDF exports pasta spread, and in CS5/5.5, the only way to swithc to unique pages is to run a script. This has been discussed quite a bit elsewhere in the forum.

  • Export of CS5 file to PDF causes the size of the document to enlarge the PDF!

I need help... QUICK! I have a calendar of 14 pages 4CP bleeding on three sides. The size of purge is 3/16 ", according to the requirements of the printer. When I export the file in InDesign to PDF format, the overall size of the page is increased by exactly 3/16 "! I almost missed it and approved the print job. Fortunately, I turned on the rules in the PDF to check all items on the page have been properly placed and do not fall on the crease. It is then that I discovered that objects that I had placed on a page spread in the crease and on the next page. I went back to my InDesign file and concluded that these items have been properly placed and did not extend to the fold, as they did in the PDF file. I tried different PPD files, export the file with and without reference to the printer... everything to nothing done. I finally printed the file to a Postscript (PS) file and then the file exported to PDF and managed to do the work. However, I prefer to avoid this extra step. What is going on? Why the file expands (as by chance the same EXACT amount that the purge has been set for) or what I am doing wrong? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Are you familiar with bleeding etc.?  i.e. have you used before?  Seems to me that if you are all mostly good but not realizing that Acrobat and Reader (please don't mention Mac preview) show the size including bleeding when you choose these options during export in Indesign.

Go back and check the configuration of your document.  Page size must be just excatly that, over the size of the page.  Background settings lost (you might have to check more options to see) should be fair.  Export the PDF file, go to "benchmark and Fund lost ' tick 'Background settings lost use the Document' and you're done.  The document will appear bigger.

Oh and use the button of the camera for the screenshots.

You can see the actual progress of the size of the doc going > Print Production > culture Pages and switch between trimming area (the size of the page will get cut to) and CropBox (which includes the lost funds and that's what you see).

I have a 600-page adobe document. How can I copy 2 pages and turn them into a new document? I can highlight pages, export and then combine files into new pdf, but it's very heavy. Acrobat DC, I cannot open 2 files acrobat side by side. In the past, I could take two pages and copy and insert into the document opened adjacent... Thank you

I'm not what you mean... Start by describing what tools or methods that you use to extract these pages.

What you write in the first sentence is not true, however. In the dialogue window extract Pages, you can choose whether or not to delete the extracted pages of the original file and extract them as individual pages or not. If you UN-select both options, you will get a single file that contains the pages you have checked out, and they will not be deleted from the original file.

Two invites on 1 page in Indesign that when exporting to adobe reader in pdf format, I can simply add new names that populate both copies and then be printable. Any help out there is how to make an invitation in Indesign, but now how to make 2 copies on a single page that someone else ie the customer can add their own names. So each field name must complete on both guest. Sounds simple, but is not really there to help. I think he called an interactive pdf. Thanks in advance.

AutoFill is the easiest part, he lies. If both fields have the same name, they will have the same content: type in one and it appears in the other.

  • How to export multiple layers to separate PDF files?

I just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite and all my CC Adobe until 2015. So far I love it, but I have a nagging problem: export layers to separate PDF files.

My file has 38 layers, each of them must be separated in PDF format, so I use the script that is embedded in SaveDocsAsPDFs. The first time I run it, it ends up split on most files, but not all, so I thought I'd run it once again: no chance. Whenever I run the present, he eventually put all the active layers in a pdf from single page instead of save them as individual PDF files. I've spent the better part of two hours online hunting and are all I can find third-party scripts that actually do what I need, rather than use the builtin scripts.

Is there a way someone can help me with this problem? I'll have much, much more files like that and I would use the original if possible script. It is everything on a Mac. Specs below.

    Mac Pro

    Quad-Core Intel Xeon

    3.2 GHz

    32 GB

The SaveDocsAsPDFs allows to save multiple documents open simultaneously in artificial intelligence to separate files. He doesn't have layers in separate documents. You can use one of the scripts that you got to do what you want.

  • Hi, is it possible to change the names of files that export out of indesign while packing?

Hi, is it possible to change the names of files that export out of indesign while packing?

For example, I can change the "Font of the Document" folder to export as a "document-fonts"?

I ask because our naming structure requires without capital letters and no spaces. Spaces are replaced by dashes (-).

And it would be nice if it was always exported as needed, instead of having to go back and change the names of files.

    Thank you! Much appreciated!

Which cannot be changed without having a bad effect,. The name "Document fonts" is special. When you compress a file with fonts in a folder using exactly this name, InDesign know that these policies should be open and will be used in the document to the other end. If you name this file anything else, InDesign ignore fonts and the recipient will have to open the fonts manually.

If you have decided to change the folder names, you will need to do once the package created, perhaps with a script.

  • Permissions issue with the files exported from Adobe last, CC on Mac 10.10.4 Yosemite

    Hello

I have a Macbook Pro (early 2011) running on Yosemite 10.10.4 was last updated. I've updated all my apps creative cloud to the last update as well. My problem is this: I can use applications very well (except that they must constantly force quit instead of exit normally... but this could be another story) and I can export files. However, even when you export a file to the desktop, when I try to open it, I get an error message indicating that I don't have permission to view it. This happens in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign - all the ones I use regularly.

To see if there is a problem with my mac, I ran disk utility and repair permissions. I restarted in recovery also and terminal mode to reset my user password. Nothing has solved the problem of permissions and what I tested other applications (such as Text Edit), it seems to be limited to Adobe CC. I don't know if this has started to happen when I updated the CC or when I updated to Yosemite last or if it is a problem between the two.

    Any idea?

    Juliet

I think that it was 10.10.3 but can be useful

Yosemite sometimes has problems, often related to the 'default' permissions that need to be changed
