Exterior Windows HD PH3100U-1EXB impossible to open the virtual CD or recognize

After you back up the hard drive of my PC, Windows can no longer open the virtual CD to an external HDD PH3100U-1EXB partition. The partition appears as another drive on my system, but the virtual CD icon is gone and Windows may not display the content, but gives the message that it does not recognize it or may be corrupt.

Now, my backup is inaccessible.

Is there a way to recover the use of virtual CD?

Thank you.

Hello

Why perform a backup on a virtual CD drive in your external HARD drive?
Normally, if you are performing a backup that copy you all files on the external HARD drive or you create an image file of your drive/system using Acronis True Image. This doesn t programs create virtual drives.

I put really know what you were doing, but normally the backups can be restored with the same programs that created.
Check it!

  • In opening the virtual machine: "could not find a peer valid to connect to" or "error of Transport (VMDB) - 32" / "-14" ""»

    Hello

Since yesterday after a reboot of my host (DELL E6410, W7 SP1 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, 2x750GB SATA3 running WorkStation 9.0.2 Update Windows Update), I can't open my existing VM.

I often get "can not find a valid peer to connect to" and sometime before: "Transport (VMDB) - 32 error: Pipe: reading is not'or'error of Transport (VMDB)"-14: fitting broke

I worked for 2 years on this machine without a hitch, WS7 reclassification in WS9 without any problem.

FYI: we have changed the domain 3 months ago, but it has never be a problem.

I have google and search several Forum. So far, I tried to:

-restart the service vmware-auth as an administrator

    -launch vmware.exe administrator

    stop/start the vmx86 service

-uninstall / reboot / install Workstation.  3 times. First using uninstall from the Control Panel, then doing a / clean before installation and finally track down any file/reg entry.

-HE asked if any group policy changes were made recently (like not allowing to run vmware.exe?)

-Rename vmware.exe (logs I look similar to what is in this post: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/331099?start=0 & tstart = 0 ... but no luck)

-excluded vmware.exe in my AV (Microsoft ForeFront). Unfortunately, in that I'm not allowed disabled...

-Open the virtual machine using the drive == > does not work either.

This isn't a file corrupted in a virtual machine (even backup - 7zipped - don't work on my laptop... but the launch on the other).

Even a newly created WM (boneless), unbootable! :-(

*, BUT to BE NOTE *: if a virtual machine is created as a shared virtual machine, I can start the application locally remotely! And this same VM, if started (via the.vmx) does not work using Workstation GUI!

I have attached 2 newspapers. Work a (vmware.log remotely) and the inactive (vmware-vmx - 4072.log thru WS GUI).

Of after what I saw (and what little I understand), it's as if the CPU is not detected?

The two newspapers have this line:

    FeatureCompat: EVC masks:

but the non-working goes - we with

    Module CPUID initialization failed.

While working it display information on CPU (hostCPUID name / family / type... etc...)

    Any idea is welcome.

I'll answer me to my problem!

A lot of research to this knowledge.

In summary: don't mess with the processor affinity... or keep it in mind!

    Response to distinguish:

I installed 6 months ago a small utility named prio (search for "PRI prnwatch"), because it can save the priority of a given process. What I did notice, is that it also save the processor affinity ! What happened: I probably changed the affinity once for a VM running to give greater priority to a 7zip archive process to complete more quickly (setting HT no core to 7zip and one - or 2? - HT core to VM). Everything works until the next reboot, where the CPU detection during * start EVERY * VM has been somewhat "damaged" leading to the wrong log message: failed initialization Module CPUID.

This is the reason of *my* question. Perhaps it might help someone else?

    TIPS:

For advanced people who do not want to check the processor affinity of each process in the Task Manager, you can try this Windows Powershell command (remember to launch PowerShell as an administrator):

    Get-Process | Format-Table-PriorityClass name, ProcessorAffinity property

ProcessorAffinity column gives the number of representation of the authorized core, 1-bit by heart.

15 = 1111 is all possible core (for a logical processor 4). Mine is 1 CPU with 2 core HT <=>4.

LSB is the core lowest. So if you allow only core0 and core3 (1001) on a process, the number of ProcessorAffinity will be 9...

  • VMDKMounter gets error "could not open the virtual disk.

I have two Win7 x 64 virtual machines running fine with VMware Fusion 4.1.2.  I installed VMDKMounter from VMware 3.1.3 and OSXFuse 2.3.9.  I can ride one of the files hard with VMDKMounter very well, but others told "Cannot open the virtual disk" when I try to mount it.

    8 June 14:43:27 hoth [0 x 0-0xe50e5].com.vmware.vmdkmounter [2394]: could not parse the instant string ' / Users/finchr/Documents/VirtualMachines.localized/hoth.univ.dir.wwu.edu.vmwarevm/hoth.univ.dir.wwu.edu.vmx '. 8 June 14:43:27 hoth [0 x 0-0xe50e5].com.vmware.vmdkmounter [2394]: will not be able to take an informed decision, based on partial information. 8 June 14:43:27 hoth [0 x 0-0xe50e5].com.vmware.vmdkmounter [2394]: mount the drive read-only instead. 8 June 14:43:27 hoth [0 x 0-0xe50e5].com.vmware.vmdkmounter [2394]: failed to open the disc: disc encoding error (261993021117)

The virtual machine that VMDKMounter fails to mount was created by VMware vCenter Converter 5.0 of a physical machine.  The virtual machine that works was created in VMware Fusion 4.

Of course, the hard I really want to ride with VMDKMounter is he who fails.  No idea how to make so that he can get?

Well, I see nothing in the disc DescriptorFile which prevents the hard mounted.

So right now, you can mount other hard files, but not this one, then I have two suggestions...

It would be to use vmware-vdiskmanager to create a new hard that will not go up and the other would create a new empty hard, then add it to a virtual machine, as well as one that will not go up and then start with appropriate optical disk or an ISO Image containing the appropriate tools/utilities in order to image the drive to the new empty.  I usually use Symantec Norton Ghost for operations like this.  Then maybe a new mounts with VMDKMounter.

  • Vista cannot import data from Taxcut document initially used in Windows XP in 2008. In fact, it is impossible to open the same (initialize) this document. How can I change this?

How can I get VISTA to open or import data from a document of Taxcut created in 2008 in Windows XP. The document is installed under VISTA, but VISTA is not able to open it or even recognize it.

You must Taxcut 2008 installed on the system to open the file - it needs the program to open the file (the file itself is not enough - he needs the program to open it - and it should probably be the same year to open it but it may work to the year next to import).  It is possible that you can import data from the file in a later version of the software (I can do it with TurboTax to carry on information from previous years - although I've never tried to do by skipping a year).  According to the Center for Comptibility Vista, Taxcut should be compatible with Vista, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/Search.aspx?type=Software&s=Taxcut , so that shouldn't be the problem.

    I hope this helps.

When I tried to open to check, Windows says that it cannot open the file cos he needs to know what program I want to use to open it and gave options to use the web to auto select or choose from the list of programs.

Note that you can restore a JSON backup in bookmarks (library) Manager.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore > choose file

Restore a JSON backup will replace all current bookmarks.

You can open such a JSON file in Notepad (Firefox/tools > Web Developer) If you want to look at the file.

  • message from Windows 7 system is unable to open the access control editor. invalid syntax

Hi, I recently bought this pc, asus n551jk, which came with windows 8.1, I switched to 10 windows because windows 8.1 give problems, so I had problems with windows 10 crashing on some games, so I decided to go back to windows 8.1 and all of a sudden I couldn't. don't know how windows.old has been deleted, but it wasn't the case to be found, and no, it wasn't a month yet since I went. After many crashes and intentions powerless to find a solution, I decided to go to windows 7. I installed windows 7 and had a multiboot windows option 10 and windows 7 successfully, but it was weird cos I just installed windows 7 on the c: drive, but now I had folders windows.old and windows.old000 on the c: drive and had also, folder windows on drives C and D, don't delete anything simply decided to restore my previous backup files, the files do not have restore to the usual places and it was all mess really, I had several repeated files, up to this point, everything worked perfect, so I decided to install updates and restart windows, after restarting, I realized I didn't have a multiboot option more, windows 10 had completely disappeared and had Windows 7 , and when I connected, I decided to get rid of some repeated files to free up space, and I noticed that I could not remove anything, when I clicked on delete, nothing happened, even no error message, nothing, nothing at all, I tried with several files and it remained the same. I looked for solutions on the net, tried to give me the privilege administrator cos it seemed to be the problem, then I noticed that I had 2 users, one of them which was 10 windows user and current user of windows 7, and the funny thing is that with the privilege of administrator is the user windows 10. but I can't access windows 10 more, then why? How is that possible? I have still two files windows.old, why have I lost access to the windows 10? It didn't remove boot options. then I went to windows.old000 and rendering account this is the folder that I had the privilege of administrator to the course, I could remove/change anything in this file outside of this folder, I couldn't do anything else, I could access the older records, but I could not change or do something with them and once again windows.old000 is on the c: drive, on which I have windows 7 installed. And why have I lost access to the windows 10 if I never deleted it, not even by mistake. and I've tried the command cmd / active: Yes NET LOG ADMIN and that I received was that USER cannot NOT BE FOUND. so I would be grateful if anyone can help cos im frustrated, I don't want to go back to windows 8.1, I have the drive, but its got a lot of questions. Thanks in advance-

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Since the beginning of the question and not tried troubleshooting, there seems to be a lot of mixing upwards and there might be conflicts on Windows files for each installation. The best option recommended for everything what you back up data and start with the new facility.

However, you can refer to the suggestions posted by Shishira D and check if this may help.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-security/cant-open-access-control-editor-access-is-denied/0b938de0-620C-417f-a2b6-50a9c7f58766?DB=5

The steps include also the right command to activate by default. You can enable the default Administrator and check if you are able to access your data in the default administrator user account.

    Hope this information helps.

  • Windows Explorer crashes or resets whenever open the system properties, among other things

So, recently, I had one set of questions arise in windows seven, apparently at random. It started to happen when I disabled it Internet Explorer (which I had reactivated it after that I saw coming problems) and uninstall my old antivirus (AVG Free). I also installed Windows updates not too long ago (after a long period of leave it turned off). I think it was about a week and a half ago or not.

First of all, I noticed that the Windows Photo Viewer launches (even with the live Gallery, have not really tried the other windows live applications). After an investigation, I noticed that the dllhost.exe process would start up when I would try to launch the photo viewer, but would end not too long after. Apparently, I Live Gallery to run at startup (with anything other than HP related; it is as well as the laptop I use), but it doesn't seem to work in this case.
Second, most of my programs installed (Mumble, the pitcher in the League of legends, steam, Skype, among other things) suddenly had to be run in compatibility mode for Windows 7... in Windows 7. Otherwise they don't start/stop working and other. Obviously, this is not good. I have not explored the question too, it's all I have on it.
Third, whenever I open the System Properties Windows, either through my computer > properties or control panel, windows Explorer stops and restarts. Only this single window.
I tried running sfc, who gave no results after a reboot (without reset my start ORB custom). A second performance immediately after the said nothing was wrong. I ran windows in safe mode, which seemed to have solved the issue of windows Explorer (not too sure Photo Gallery, because it cannot be run in safe mode). Since nothing seemed wrong then, I tried to run in clean boot mode, brings the issue of Explorer back, but solved the problem of Windors and Live Gallery Photo Viewer. I tried many restored system (a restore before windows update has solved my problem of Photo Viewer, but this restore point has long been lost at the time where this all started to happen all together). On a side note, I got a voip program, Mumble, to run correctly after all this happens, if I reinstall, repair or run the program in compatibility mode again.
I spent my time recently trying to understand the issue of windows Explorer, and everything that I had going on right now is that it might have something to do with ntdll.dll
. Here is the report of the accident event viewer and reboot:

I'm at a loss right now on how to solve this problem. I was planning to do a reinstall in place, but I don't have a copy of the Windows 7 disc, nor have I any DVD big enough to spare a. I have to take this laptop for repairs of the hinge, and I don't want this issue ballooning the cost of the repairs on my laptop should I take on someone to fix for me.
I ran my new (MSE) antivirus and MalwareBytes to check for problems, and they found some (if I remember correctly, it was potential threats in internet explorer, which I use never, incidentally). After the removal of these questions, everything seems to stay the same.
A quick response would be greatly appreciated.
