external link to webhelp, view the table of contents

Hello

is it possible to automatically show the pane external TOC when binding an html file? On our intranet, many pages are not compiled with robohelp, they are word-> html pages, but we link these pages to the robohelp webhelp.

By default, you only see the topic and have the link display at the top of the page. But this link to display is not visible unless you really link to the top of this page.

I would like to activate the navigation pane by default whenever an external link refers to HR webhelp.

I'm not following you, but the above should work.

With this kind of things it should be to create a small test project and do refer a file for you on the server. Then you can test without affecting your project or online users.

If I have a project of RH6 I open in RH8, how can I view the table of contents of the RH6 project without creating a new brand, so I can view and edit?

My apologies if I misunderstood your question, but just try to double-click the TOC file that has been updated to RH6 when you opened the project in RH8. You can find it in the project configuration module.

  • Error JavaScript prevents the table of contents, Index, search view

I produced my RoboHelp HTML project webhelp and got an error javascript (this.maCom [...] (' is null or not an object) when you view the result. See the full error text below. So the table of contents, index and search are not displayed. We'll find the javascript error in the status bar of the browser that says "error on page". I found that if I saw the result of robohelp, the browser that launched shows the table of contents, index and search, but has a security warning about a restriction of running scripts or ActiveX controls. However, when I move the generated webhelp on my production server, the help doesn't have the security warning, but produces the error so that the table of contents, index and search do not show. I had done the same process to generate webhelp about 8 months ago but had no error whatsoever. In fact, this version is still in production and works very well.

In my search for the problem, I found that it is the same error as message of the forum 4063663 (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4063663). I didn't have a second system with RoboHelp to be able to get other whphost.js, however, I have diff had the file generated with that found in template_stock and found only two different lines. These differences were only to replace a couple of variables with static text so I do not replace this file will solve any problem for me. That is the message of only forum I could find who addressed this issue.

I was originally on RoboHelp 8.0.0 when I first encountered the problem, but has expanded and patched to version 8.0.2 and still had the same problem. I even created a new simple project. Once I moved the simple project on the production server, it also would display the table of contents, index and search.

The strange thing is that only 8 months ago, I used the same process to generate webhelp without any errors (on 8.0.0). The only thing I can find is there is a Windows XP patch which affected the generation of webhelp. Furthermore, I also tried chrome and also produces the error.

I don't know what is causing this problem or how to solve the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

After further research and testing, I found the update of security for RoboHelp 8 and 9 (http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-23.html) posted as an ad that I had not seen before. I used the feature updates of the product, but that said I was informed and did not include this update.

Both javascript in this update files solve the problem. The table of contents, index and search now appear.

    Update:
As I studied the problem further (when writing this reply), I found files that are newer than the latest security patches, I was aware of that. In addition, I discovered that my security organization decided to patch with APSB12-04 I don't know. This patch is why my 8.0.0 installation magically stop working. I see the announcement of the security, the bulletin was not all the required components for specific, that the patch can be applied to 8.0.1 and 8.0.2). (8.0.0, Adobe, please give more information on the ballots of so that organizations that deploy auto will be forced to find out what is running before the update. Information such as whether they apply to all versions of Robohelp 8 or simply a specific version. If APSB12-04 was supposed to apply to all versions of 8, then it did not work. In fact, he broke my installation of 8.0.0 for the generation of webhelp, but a later installation of 8.0.1 and 8.0.2. It seems that they have done a better job for APSB11-23. Maybe the security updates should be a kind of service pack that has a plant and a cancellation process. Right now, my security organization has replaced the files based on the specification in the security bulletin.

I'll try to patch with APSB12-04 new since I've updated version 8.0.2 database to see if I still have the webhelp. If I can't view the table of contents, I have to take off once more and be 'in non-compliance."

  • How to display a complete tree of the table of contents in the body of a page instead of the sidebar?

How to display a full (project) TOC tree in the body of the pages of the section instead of the default sidebar (left pane)? Is there a simple way to do this in the application? I have not yet discovered a way to do it, but I can't get to the right place. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can view the table of contents on a page, and even if you could, the sidebar would always be there for indexing and search. The only possibility I can think of is to create a page where you create links arranged to act as a TOC, then maybe iFrame this page in. Each book might be a drop-down list to view links to topics.

Maintenance would be horrible and she barely meets your requirement to be simple.

  • Added a link to an external file in the table of contents

I would like to be able to have a link in the table of contents in an external file (such as a pdf or doc Excel file) that can reside on the same server as the online help project, without having to add the external file to the project in a baggage file. Basically, I put in the address of the file, just as you would for a URL, but RoboHelp does not allow me to do. I can add a link of this type on a topic page, but I don't see how to do this in the table of contents. The idea is that this file could be maintained outside the project to online help, and the online help will always be a link to the most recent version (without having to update anything in the online help). Someone at - it ideas?
    Thank you!
    Lynn

Nevermind, I figured it. I just need to add the following at the beginning of the URL address...

    file://

I also need to remember that there may be no space anywhere in the folder names and file name when the link in the table of contents.

  • WebHelp, view a topic that is not present in the table of contents

    Hello

I'm working on RH8. I use multiple TOC and created a table of contents with only the first 4 chapters. After having generated the WebHelp by using that FAKE, even if I look for a subject that did not exist in the table of contents, I can see the help.

Ideally, if the topic is not added to the table of contents, should not be displayed even if someone searches for it.

    Please help me with this.

Looks like you expect the table of contents to control what is in the construction and it's not the way it works. It is simply the pointer on key issues, which may need to support the topics where you wouldn't wish that the user to start and that might clutter up the table of contents.

What you see, it's the way it is supposed to work and how a HAT I've seen. The table of contents indicates what you want to highlight, the search finds all that is in the build.

You can use exclude research in properties, introduced in RH8. In this way the subject is in the build-up but not searchable.

If you don't want certain topics, use TCC to exclude.

  • I put the table of contents to view all levels, not just one?

I'm in RH 8 and using Webhelp.

When I generate, I have 2 levels of books.

When I click on a book at level 2, it closes another book that can be opened at level 2.

Is there a way to make all the books and pages and all the themes appear when generated?

    Thank you.TOC.png

    Hello

Unfortunately, there is no characteristic or parameter that you can activate in RoboHelp which will cause the table of contents display initially in a fully developed State. You should consider to send a form would ask option to add in a future version.

  • & quot; View the & quot; hyperlink to the table of contents

    Hello

I have a lot of links in HTML RH7 that when you click on open subjects in a new window. These new windows have a link automatically generated in the upper left corner called 'show' that when clicked will then add the table of contents and page layout in the window. Problem is that this table of contents in the new window uses the default layout that different from my usual one and if the navigation buttons are missing.

I'd rather not have this link 'Show' appear in total. Y at - it a setting to prevent that appears when a new window is opened? I don't want you must remove the HTML for all these events.

    Thank you!

I think that you will need to generate each child project with show off power.

If you create help merged with a similar structure to that of my article merged WebHelp, I think you will find that most things take their leader in the master project. However, if you merge with HR Server7 ability to merge projects, so it may be different. Sorry, I can't advise you on that.

The two methods of fusion are very different.

Is Acrobat Pro just for us. We have an employee handbook that needs editing. A part is current pdf, some of an earlier version. You want to get all in a manual, the table of contents automatically adjust and links to specific pages of the table of contents.

Acrobat Pro is certainly not the right tool for editing. You want to change the manual using the source - MS Word files for example. Once you have the full changes including OCD work as you want, Acrobat Pro is the tool to convert the source document to PDF format, and ensure the accessibility requirements of 508 - and preferably ISO 14289 (PDF/UA) - are met.

  • Webhelp from Rh 9 is the first default open book in the table of contents

When generating 9 Robohelp webhelp, I find that the first book in the table of contents is by default open. It's an output generated from 9 hr property? If this isn't the case, please let me know the path for the parameters of this TOC.

Help opens the default topic. If you have the TOC synchronized which is what most people prefer, the book is about this subject in will be opened. Move the default topic above the first book and you should get what you want.

  • A link to a bookmark in the table of contents?

I couldn't find this anywhere in help. The only time where it says link a bookmark to a table of contents was if you have used the feature of automatic creation of your table of contents.

I think I figured out how do it, but wanted to run it by the forum to see if this is right.

This is how it is done?

    1. Add a new page to the table of contents.
      1. Enter a title.
      2. The file name, choose the topic that contains the bookmark.
      3. Click OK to save. Your page should appear in the table of contents.
    2. Right-click on the page, table of contents, that you just created. The Table of Contents Page Properties window opens.
    3. At the bottom of the page, where it says "link to", add # and the name of the bookmark at the end.

For example, if your subject appears in the form Entering_a_New_Customer.htm and the bookmark is called address, you would add #address the end of the filename. Gives you a link to Entering_a_New_Customer.htm #address

Is there another way to do it? In this way requires two steps and requires that you know the name of the bookmark; You can't navigate to it.

  • Topics by opening the first occurrence in the table of contents

Background: I created HTML5 Responsive help using HR 2015 for a web application. I organized the Hep role, then pages with these roles, users can access, and then by the tasks users can perform on this page. In many cases, a subject is listed under multiple roles and reuse and efficiency, I just dragged the same theme in the list of the topic in the table of contents as appropriate.

I also used the text conditionalized on table of contents by role level. Using the example below, I have conditions for physician, nurse, and Patient, but I don't think that this is part of the issue well. Conditionalized roles were created for filtering purposes.

Question: I have the overview topics that include hyperlinks to headings in red in the example below for each role. When a user clicks the hyperlink in this topic of presentation, he brings them to the FIRST occurrence of this topic in the table of contents, not the link that is associated with their role. When a user with the role of the Patient is in the topic view of their role and click the hyperlink 'Research for patients', help opens on this subject, but the "Searching for patients" in the topic role of physician in the table of contents on the left is highlighted.  Not a show-stopper, but it is confusing for users.

Also, we had originally planned to use the filter feature to filter role help topics. When I filter to view only a specific role (nurse) and do the steps above, by clicking on the Preview 'Search for patients' hyperlink opens but there is no highlighting in the table of contents because this first occurrence is hidden in all the subjects physician.

Note: This problem does not occur when I generate the content as WebHelp.

What I want to do: When the nurse click on the hyperlink for 'Research for patients' of their overview topic, researching topic of patients is open and the search for patients is highlighted in the table of contents under the nurse, not the first occurrence (doctor).

Questions: Is this a bug or is it repairable? And is it possible to fix it without creating the specific role of topics such as finding doctors for Patients, nursing research for Patients and so forth? I tried to delete the table of contents and start again, but the problem persists.

    Here is an example:

    Doctor

    Patient portal page

Overview (contains links to sections below - view patient demograhic data, looking for patients, to renew orders)

Display of the demographics of the patients

    Looking for patients

    Renewal of prescriptions

    Nurse

    Patient portal page

Overview (contains links to sections below)

Display of the demographics of the patients

    Looking for patients

    Display of orders

    Patient

    Patient portal page

Overview (contains links to sections below)

    Update your demographic data

    Display of your prescrpitions

My opinion would be that this is the expected behavior. My theory is that there is no information within the syntax of hyperlinks. A hypertext link is encoded such that when you click on it, you are taken to the landing page, as if sending the message "find the page named and post it by the specified parameters. What is happening is that the hyperlink goes to the first instance of the HTML page in your table of contents (.hhc file). There is no intelligence, he doesn't "know" that you are in the doctor or the nurse section - section he knows only that the page specified in the table of contents is listed in the file and thus, it only takes you there. The syntax of hyperlinks don't "know" where you are in the help system.

I just also wanted to report the fault of strike in the Patient section, look a your orders of your example, assuming that you have copied and pasted into this thread.

  • I do not see the table of contents, Index, search & amp; Glossary when the call for help on a topic

Does anyone else have this problem? I use webhelp with contextual sensitivity, and I appeal to the table of contents, Index, search, and glossary to display. If I go to the welcome home page, they are exposed. But when we ask for help on a particular page, these areas are not shown, but they can be opened using the view link. I much prefer to see the exposed left pane, rather that ask the user to click on this link. How can I do this?

    Robin Valk

    Hi Robin.
See this link using the appeal of the CSH Webhelp output.

  • RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.2.384): The search returns topics do not are included in the table of contents

ENVIRONMENT: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 8.00 GB of RAM, 64 - bit OS, Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Acrobat Reader DC 2015.017.20050

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

    • A single RoboHelp HTML project with three exits. One of the outputs is a 'validation' reference that has its own Table of contents.
    • Validation reference Table of contents contains a subset of the subjects in the main help system. For example, the help system main table of contents contains a folder named 'Administration '. This folder is not in the table of contents of reference for Validation.
    • The reference of Validation is displayed on a public web site. Therefore, we applied the tag "Non_public_info" contained in the topics shared that we do not want to appear on the public website.
    • WebHelp parameters are:
      • Validation reference TOC
      • No map file, no sequence to browse
      • Conditional compilation expression: NOT_Non_public_info_AND_NOT_StyleGuidelines_AND_NOT_TRP (we keep our Style rules in the project to facilitate access during development. TRP content must be rejected because it was not released.)
      • Exclude non referenced topics of output is selected.
      • Search options. Only 'Show Total number of search results' and 'View AND search Option in outputs' are selected.
    • After generating the WebHelp, we remove the files that we don't want (RoboHelp generates empty folders, even if the files are not in the table of contents.)

PROBLEM: A search in the help of Validation reference reveals the topics that we think should not be included because the subjects themselves are not in the table of contents of Validation reference. For example, the section "Data quality analysis" is in the main table of contents help, but not in the table of contents of reference for Validation. Therefore, we do not expect the topic appears in the search results pane at all. But he does. When the user clicks on the subject, the "Resource not found" message appears.

Nothing shows the topic Style_Guidelines because the StyleGuidelines label conditional construction applies to the entire folder and the "Style guidelines" book in the main table of contents. (Same thing for the TRP folder).

QUESTION: Why are topics which are not in the table of contents and whose records are not in the project at all appearing in the WebHelp during a search? We need to rewrite the expression of conditional compilation or establish conditions differently. We assume not have topics in the table of contents, not including the topics not referenced in the output, and remove empty folders would be the way to go. Any help is welcome!

    Thank you very much.

    Carol Levie

The table of contents does not control what ends up in the output for output online. All content tagged and tagged content which is not excluded by the expression of construction will be included. The parameter 'Exclude topics not referenced output' more exclude all subjects which are not in the table of contents AND are not related to any topic which is included in the output.

On the other hand, for the print output the table of contents control which is found in the output. I think that it will fire a lot of people.

If you generate the help and that you do not remove the unwanted files, do you still have the error? If this isn't the case, you know that the topic is referenced somewhere in the content of the reference of the Validation.

Here is the help of RH11. I can't imagine it would have changed, but you could do a search to verify a second time for RH2015.

    Exclude output not referenced topics

Select this option to exclude any topic that exists in the project, but is not the default theme in page layout or is not referenced table of selected contents, index or sequence to browse, or any referenced subject.

Note: RoboHelp shows the topics not referenced that are excluded from the output in the output view module.

  • Why are the table of contents will not appear when the project opened on the intranet?

One of our projects RoboHelp 9 not open when the table of contents is open on the left.  It doesn't have a link that says 'Show', but the favorite opening would have the table of contents already developed.  All other projects pave the way.

I have "Show Navigation pane link in topics" box on the settings WebHelp Navigation page. I adapted all webhelp settings to another project that opens correctly.

    What else can we do?

    Deanna

Hmmm, the dialog box, the page that should open the WebHelp is actually named 'startpage.htm '. It would seem that it is the HTML page, you must link to the.
