F1 is not bios on Y700

On my new Y700 with 10 windows, pressing f1 during the power on process does nothing, and proceeds to the windows desktop.

I suspect that this action has been set in the bios already and is secured by the power on settings.

It seems that catch 22.

F12 enter me the menu boot options.

In all other respects, the y700 works well.

In the end, I want to enter the bios to set the boot order to a dual boot system.

I enter the bios from windows acceesing recovery.

There are few valuable options in the bios.

I was able to disable secure boot that made no difference.

It allowed me to boot from usb to run memtest86 6.2

I tried to disable quick start which is what I think you want to say, and that made no difference.

Given some bios options available, I less need a direct entry in the bios as long as windows starts.

But I am considering a dual boot or other options where a direct entry in the bios may be required.

Once the parameters required by the computer's BIOS were kept in low-power CMOS memory.  The power was supplied by a battery when the power was provided by the computer's power supply.  Removing the battery with no available backup power would cause the memory of losing the settings.  Some - but not all - power supplies provided backup power to the CMOS when the computer was turned off but still connected to the external power supply.

More recent computer use a nonvolatile memory such as EEPROM or flash the BIOS settings for memory, so that the only thing the battery support is the real time clock.

In both cases, remove the BIOS battery without having available backup power will not result in a black screen.  If the BIOS settings are lost, the computer will generally display a message giving the possibility to access the BIOS configuration utility to reset the missing values.

Most probably, when you had the case open to change the battery you dislodged or loose a connector for the video card.  Two more serious possibilities come to mind: you put the battery head down (I don't know what will happen in this case) or you skipped a few circuits with static electricity.

Open the case and static precautions, look for loose or damaged connections.  Also check the polarity of the battery of the BIOS.

  • Satellite A300 is not BIOS self-test

    Hello!

My laptop does not pass the test in the BIOS. "Toshiba Leading Innovation" inscription does not disappear. So what to do?

    The buttons are not active.

    Hello

This means that your screen is completely black and you see anything? Which is strange, but you can try this workaround:

-Try to remove the battery and the AC adapter
-Wait at least an hour or overnight (no battery and adapter must be connected)
    -Reconnect battery and AC adapter
-Try to start as usual Notepad

If the same problem occurs, you must contact an authorized service provider. It seems to be a hardware problem :(

  • Product key Windows 8 should be not BIOS-based on new laptops from Dell?

    Hello

My brother-in-law had a HD failure in his Win8 Inspiron 14z laptop. It had not generated the recovery DVDs.

I replaced with a new HD sound and used the Dell recovery DVDs on my daughter, I created 14z to restore with the Windows 8 factory image (no preserved user data).

His laptop started successfully to the State "new", and is now installing windows 136 updates.

I fear, however, because although on 'System', he does say that Windows is activated, the product ID is identical to my daughter 14z, and on the details 'activation', the last 5 characters of the product key shown are also the same.

Is this good? I wasn't expecting the recovery DVD Dell would be the product key; I assumed that Windows would he get from the BIOS.

Is there a way to "turn off" Windows and use the key to the BIOS?

    Thank you!

See here - RWEverything to determine the product key, and then change the key to match one found by RWEverything:

  • Acer Travelmate 5744z does not start, Option not Bios

    Hi,
IAM having an Acer Travelmate 5744z laptop and it installed Windows 7.
Yesterday I forgot to stop the laptop while I sleep and today morning when I turned it on it started reume windows, then I accidentally pressed the power button and it is just off. So I pressed the power button again and tried to turn on the system, but it showed something like "Delete restoration data and proceed", so I clicked on this point, BAM my phone fell in bootloop.
Current condition: menu Acer comes when you press power button No. BIOS options aka F2 Menu appears, then a dash (-) comes on a black screen and then returns to the screen of the acer.
If someone knows to fix it please help me.

If you put an installation disc or a system repair disc into the CD/DVD and start, there is a good chance that it starts from the disk. No need to go into Bios.

  • my screen is black at the start. not bios. No beeps. external monitor does not work either.

I have a G62-343NR which suddenly stopped working after I tried to do a Windows Update.  At the present time, when I try to turn it on, I hear the fans whirring and the HD, kicking, but there is no beeps & my screen remains black.  The wifi stays on, but my caps lock button will Flash.  I thought that the screen has gone bad, but when I plug my external monitor, it does not show something or the other.  I tried to insert a Windows 7 installation disc, but nothing appears on the screen, and no beeps are heard.  The fan is turned on.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    It was running Windows 7.

    Hello

It looks like not a component on the motherboard does not, but it is worth trying the following.

In regards to the link below, delete one of your modules of memory and then see if the laptop will start.  If it doesn't, try the same module, but in another location.  If it is still won't start, try just the other memory module in both slots, to see if any combination will allow the laptop to start.

The procedure for withdrawal of these modules is detailed from Page 55 of your & Maintenance Guide.

    Kind regards

  • X 1 carbon (Gen3 20BS) may not start, nothing else than to the BIOS

Yesterday I had a few pilots, as well as the update of the BIOS updates. BIOS seems to update successful (now its 1,14), all under BIOS works. I had 2 OS: win10 and Ubuntu with grub. I've been a happy user of all these for several months, but...

The problem is that I can't start any OS or OS installation even after an update of pilot (which was done through Lenovo utility for Win10)! Recovery ISOs, diagnostic tools... Nothing can be started. BTW, I know how to deal with secure boot and legacy mode. I can handle start the process of starting anything listed above, but they all have the same behavior. That they freeze at the beginning. Everything that involves just ACPI hangs at startup. Linux crashes after the message "ACPI Tables successfully asked" or sth like that. Win10 displays the points that go around 1 second and then crashes. If I add "acpi = off" to Linux boot options, it starts (but almost nothing works there without acpi support). Things that do not work for ACPI. For example, I can update the BIOS of drinks ISOS. It still does not help because my BIOS version is the most recent and it does not restore.

It cannot be the hardware problem such as it appeared after Windows drivers updated and flashed a firmware (not BIOS, but I don't know what it was exactly). I can access the data on the SSD and you can see some newspapers if necessary.

Hope of assistance how Flash again all the firmware on laptop boot USB possible? What can be flashed with the exception of the BIOS?

In response to customer relationships which, after a BIOS update to some ThinkPads, the system may not start, suspended at the Windows startup screen, Lenovo provided a Service COUNCIL detailing workaround. A permanent solution is provided through future BIOS update.

  • Y700-15isk helmet does not properly

It just started last night, but when I plug headphones into the headphone jack, audio is mostly just through the left ear, with the right ear is barely audible. If I turn the volume way upward, it seems normal to the ear right, but obviously much too strong, from left to right. I tested with several different pairs of headphones that all work properly in other devices, but not in the Y700.

Anyone have any ideas on what is happening and how to fix it?

I uninstalled the driver, rebooted, and it worked again. Weird that I didn't have to reinstall but. (It still appears in the device under "Realtek HD Audio" Manager)

    Thank you!

  • BIOS not fully ACPI compliant?

PC turns off, sometimes during start up and sometimes shortly after the start and displays a BIOS 'blue error screen' not fully ACPI compliant?  It will then try to auyomatically start up on its own or I have to make a choice of boot options. What is causing this strange behavior?

    Hello

    1. you did it before the issue of any material changes or software?

Please let us know the blue stop screen error as well.

To resolve this problem, you need to set the BIOS to the default settings. To do this, contact the manufacturer of your system.
Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
In the meantime, you can check the following link.
  • Windows Vista: windows could not start error. is suspended from the "Microsoft Corporation" loading bar then black screen BIOS not acpi compliant

After you have installed the driver for the zune hd, I was asked to restart my computer. After the reboot, start froze on a white screen. I've seen this before and it is usually because of some connected usb components. so I manually powered down the Tower, disconnected the cable from zune and restarted. This time a screen saying that windows could not start, "launch Startup Repair tool" was recommended. Select this habit makes the startup hang to the progress bar from Microsoft corporation, then to a completely white screen. Although strangely, once only a blue error screen appears which says that the BIOS is not acpi compatible. I can't restart with F8 to go into safe mode, "windows error recovery" still appears. "Start windows normally"produces the same results as the tool to restart launch system. " I have a drive to upgrade to windows 7 and a windows XP upgrade disk. the disc of windows 7 hangs at "starting windows" and the XP disc gives a blue screen error: stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0c 0000034, 0 x 00000000, 0 x 00000000)

I think I have a BIOS problem, but I don't know how I could continue dealing with the repair. I have no success update the bios from usb flash. Any idea is appreciated.
Update: managed to start with F8, choose to boot in safe mode and loading hangs after "load: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys"***.

    Hello

    1. What is the exact error message when Windows Vista does not start?

    2. you have the disk Installation of Windows Vista operating system?

I suggest you change the mode of RAMA to IDE in the BIOS. You can contact the PC manufacturer for assistance.

Note: BIOS change / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

In addition, perform a check disk in Windows Recovery Mode.

    (a) Insert the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    (b) press a key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD".

    (c) select a language, an hour and the currencyand a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

    (d) click on check drive for errors.

    (e) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, select the drive of your Windows installation and click Next

    (f) to the System Recovery Options dialog box, click on check Drive for errors.

    (g) use the switch/r to run the disk check.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

    It will be useful.

  • Re: Satellite l300 - 14g does not start, hdd user password

    Hello.

My neighbors gave me their cell phone to try to fix it. It just is not under tension.
Place the screen black, blue, white letters:
Please enter the password for HARD drive built-in user:

They told me that it just appeared one day. I can't get into BIOS. There's nothing I can do about it.
I tried to do a search in the forum and found nothing.

Googleing I have readen on similar situations. You have any ideas what I could do?
Maybe it's a broken HARD drive, I could replace it with another.

    Hello

HDD password is NOT BIOS password.
HARD drive password can not be erased if you n t know this password!

If the HARD drive password is unknown, then the HARD drive is useless!

You can buy a new one and replace the HARD drive.

    Good bye

Why do you want that specific file?
It is sufficient to perform the BIOS update through the Setup file provided in the package of the BIOS, you can download from the Toshiba download page.

Just tried and downloaded this package that contains only the setup.exe and the rom file.
I think there is no way to get this file you want, because it is not included.

Is it safe to upgrade to 2.70 L755-12D (PSK2YE)? Same laptop except adding blue-ray player.

Do not BIOS for other model of laptop.

If the most recent BIOS is not released which probably means that there is no reason for this.
