  Lock the phone by using the power button. Now unlock it using the power button. You could be brought to the screen that displays a numeric keypad that allows you to enter the PIN code to unlock the phone.

  Now, let your phone goes to sleep. (The phone automatically locks once it goes to sleep). Unlock the phone using the power button. Now the screen with the number pad does not appear. You can simply drag and you would be ready to go.

  This I think is a glaring goof-up. The keypad should not come to every time I unlock the phone.

  Display hour of sleep and lock are not the same, if you set a security password/PIN, etc... You must set the time interval before the recovery of the display phone lock.

  Go to settings, security, automatically lock and then set the amount of time you want to elapse before the phone locked itself. You can set it to leave immediately for 30 minutes.

  Sounds like the port suffered physical damage, if you had a driver problem, nothing would work. You can try to start/devices and printers/add a device, but I don't think it will help.

  Check the status of the device in Device Manager. Follow the steps for the same thing:

  a. click on start

  b. click Run, in the Run dialog box type devmgmt.msc

  c. in the Device Manager window, locate the USB key and expand the drive, double-click the sub element to check if an error message or error code is listed.

  If there is no error message highlight Bus USB controllers and then click Action select check for material changes.

  I seem to have problems with Windows Mail, perhaps caused by the update KB978542 and/or run the program WMUtil.

  Know the drivers specific, is only half the story.  Why you looking for these drivers?  You have problems with your parallel port or USB port?  This can be caused by problems with drivers or it could be a hardware problem (hard to diagnose a hardware problem without good parts to swap and test).  If you need to update the drivers, you must use device (not msinfo32) Manager - or maybe clicking on an executable file that loads the drivers automatically (depends on how it is sent by download).

  Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need drivers (I assume that you want to the parallel port and USB ports), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/.   I had problems with getting my iPod classic 6th generation to be recognized by my computer windows 7.  It works very well but all of a sudden stopped working.  When I connect the iPod, it says on the product than its 'connected' and is in charge, but does not appear on "my computer" or on iTunes.  Now, I supposed that it was a problem with my apple product, but after putting in the store and plug both Mac and PCs, this worked fine, its clear that it is actually a problem with my specific PC.
  All software are up to date and I tried stop and start the unit. (Control Panel > administrative tools > services > device mobile apple).  The PC also recognizes the iPod randomly once in a while and I managed to restore the iPod to factory settings to ensure that there is no problem with the device itself.

  As stated earlier that the iPod is not visible in 'my computer', but when "devices and printers", there are two elements relating to the iPod, appearing almost as if it's two separate devices. the first is "apple ipod usb device" on the devices section and "Apple mobile device USB driver" in the section not specified.  When I click the first device it freezes the computer for awhile.
  I tried to move the ipod to different USB ports that make no difference.  However, when I put in a pen memory USB (TDK 4 GB), it initially also put it in unspecified, but with a yellow warning down logo on the left and when I moved my wireless usb key for my keyboard, it didn't work initially.  These two seem to have resolved themselves in Device Manager...

  In my view, there is a problem with my usb ports grateful drivers. Any idea what I need to do?

  4. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

  Assuming that your keyboard works during boot (and it should; trying to tap F8 to access Advanced Boot Options Menu), probably the simplest method would be to make a Hiren Boot CD, boot from it and use one of the many included tools.  I have not experienced with your particular situation, so I can not tell you what tools will be or will work for you, but my guess is that USBDeView might work.

  Thanks for all the help. Seems that there is no easy 'reset' for bad hardware configurations.

  However, I dug to the bottom of my Lac 'tech' and found a USB-to-PS/2 adapter, which allowed me to use the USB mouse into the PS/2 port and reactivate my USB ports.

  All is well now.
