Facing problems of performance with ESXi
Dear Sir
I am facing a problem and I couldn't find a solution for her, I have two virtual environment on the site of min and the other on the recovery site, and I use SRM between them.
The main site contains 12 SUN 6270 blade system 5.1 of VMware ESXi and vcenter 5.1 with clarion Cx4 (SAN storage)
The DR site contain 5 blade Dell 5.1 of VMware ESXi and vCenter 5.1 with clarion CX4 (SAN storage) system
I'm Clariion Storage VMAX, my question is on the main site when I add and mount LUN to ESXi hosts when I rescan there took an hour to complete a new analysis, the performance is very bad, in the face of the strange disconnect on the issue of the host, although I checked the compatibility between the Sun and ESXi 5.1 It is compatible
the DR I'm not confronted with this problem it is fast and the performance is excellent.
I need a solution please
Fixed after I removed the clarion and fix some issues on Sun blades fiber cards
performance of becoming better than before

Using the cmdlet Get-stats for the problems of performance of ESXi
I need to detect the bottlenecks (if any) causing poor performance with a (free) 5.5 ESXi host.
I see that if I use the cmdlet Get - stat PowerCLI I get dozens of meters, such as "mem.usage.average" or "'rescpu.maxlimited1.latest ', just to give two samples. "
Can I identify a subset of the counters I should follow to identify possible bottlenecks in the fastest way possible?

Everything depends of course.
There are several positions which list a number of key counters to watch.

I have a brand new hp dl380 G6 with 2 xeon x 5560 server and 48 GB of ram ddr, it is used in combination with a fiber of msa 2212 hp san chanel.
The host runs 36 windows virtual xp with each 1vcpu and 512 MB memory.
given that we have upgraded to esxi 4 almost al my virtual machines are showing the alarm that the memory usage of comments is raw, some off them show same not the warning, but the symbol of the alarm.
In the virtual machine overview comments mem % varies between 90% and 68%.
The host mem is also high, always 537 MB.
The same takes place of issue with the version of virtual machine 4 and 7, vmwaretools is upgraded to version latsest, even with a new installation of a host appaers problem.
On the same host, we tested with esxi 3.5, we have not had any warning to all mem % comments has been between 2 and 18%
the host here for most memory less than 100 MB
Is that a question or there at - it something wrong with my setup?
Has anyone seen this problem too?

Need help with problems of performance with 14 elements
I scanned the forums and provided below to help with feedback. At this point, the organizer of the elements is unusable for me - I'm looking for suggestions to help refine the installer to make it usable.
MY SETUP
- Just more than 50000 items in the catalog, about 95% of them are photos, videos of rest. 98% of the source files are on a drive to the server in my house, with a gigabit connection.
- I left full recognition of faces (took two days!) and Yes, during that who was running the organizer was unusable.
- My PC is an i7 - 4790 k with 16 GB of RAM. Windows Pro 10. Boot drive is SSD.
THE SCENARIO
I have a new series of images on my C drive local - images that I scanned, about 30 pictures. Using the view of the pane left records that I navigate to the folder on my C drive. If I move to the tab places it takes about 25 seconds to react and make enforcement appear the places page. If I then go to the people tab it takes about 75 seconds, for the application to respond. In both cases, the application is completely insensitive during the wait.
Clearly, I can't clean my collection with this kind of response. So here are my questions:
- What are the key strategies to improve performance, given my configuration?
- Have I not too many objects in the catalog? Should I aim lower number? I saw that there is no actual limit but I feel Im beyond a theoretical limit of messages.
- Broken content is to catalog help with questions like this? Is there another internal setting, I should be updated or change?
- Given the number of images should I use Lightroom instead?
The only change that I'm not going to do is to move all the content of my return to my local drive. Sound on the server so that it is completely backed up and protected. So I'm looking for ideas that help given this configuration.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Mark,
I can't offer a positive solution to your problem, but I hope to give you some answers or thoughts on this subject.
Let's start with the description of your case: it's a perfect description of what has been reported in several positions:
-powerful Installer (computer, SSD)
-l' use of the recognition of people and/or geolocation
-use of a NAS for the library.
-Library of more than 50,000 points.
-very long indexing, then extremely slow.
I do not use a SSD (will probably later) or a NAS (I never do). I 65 000 objects and don't care about recognition of face or geolocation, which explains that with a basic setup on I3, 8 GB of RAM, I have an organizing extremely fast speed. Even on an old secondary computer with Vista, it is still quite manageable.
Your choice is typical of advanced specialists and competent (I guess that less than 1% of the current user of items based). I have yet to see no answer (satisfactory or not...) Adobe staff.
Given the number of images should I use Lightroom instead?
I guess that's what Adobe could answer you... and that would be wise. You can use a trial version to make your choice and do a search on the forum for Lightroom. I have not seen similar, even if complaints with NASs, it seems to be a lot to say. Lightroom can convert your organizing catalogs (maybe some problems lately...)
The only change that I'm not going to do is to move all the content of my return to my local drive. Sound on the server so that it is completely backed up and protected. So I'm looking for ideas that help given this configuration.
If the use of the network is primarily to ensure maximum security (for not sharing images), why not would you use the choice to store your library on your computer (internal or external disk) with a sync to your NAS as a backup solution? I can tell you that my workflow includes Windows Synctoy to record each session easily and quickly (catalogs and libraries).
Your very precise description of the case call to assess each factor of different performance individually. Even if the method above is not the final answer, it could shed light on the influence of the use of the network.
- Have I not too many objects in the catalog? Should I aim lower number? I saw that there is no actual limit but I feel Im beyond a theoretical limit of messages.
- Broken content is to catalog help with questions like this?
Splitting the catalog is usually a very bad solution, a number of post seems to show that with the recognition of the people/geotagging, the problems around the range of 50,000 points. You can make a copy of the catalog and remove half of the files to check the influence of numbers point; Maybe it's possible with version 14 (deletion is extremely slow, but worked for me, even if it failed with older versions).
Is there another internal setting, I should be updated or change?
Sorry, I can't help you there...
Other factors are using recognition Geotagging and people. Even if you absolutely need those features, disable to see their influence could help Adobe to solve performance issues.

facing problem in communicating with chassis cRIO-9104 NI Max
I tried to communicaste with my cRIO-9004 using the ethernet cable that is connected to the same subnet as the PC master. It is mounted on the cRIO-9104 chassis that has a reconfiurable FPGA and 8 slots.
But I could not find cRIO-9004 in the specified window NOR MAX chassis as unknown.

Hey, Vinayak,.
I'm not sure that there is a problem here. Usually, you'd do anything with Max modules are you able to add them to your project in LabVIEW?

Problems of performance with a PL/SQL Tables
Hello
We have a .net application which connects to our Oracle (10.2.0.3) database to extract and load data. In most cases, an array of the keys is passed to a procedure, in which we open a Ref cursor and even return to the application to read the data.
For the array of keys being passed to the procedure, make us a cast and transform it into a table in our query. For example, below takes about 15-18 seconds when we TABLE table table MELTING / nested. If I change the table and insert object keys straight into an "IN" clause he finishes in 1-2 seconds.
We have the latest statistics on all tables used.
Why convert the a PLSQL, using the CAST TABLE table table bearing on execution plan so much?
Is there another solution to this problem?
Queries and their execution plans are given below (I put in literal values for my tests rather than specify the table).

Poor ESXi 4 NFS Datastore Performance with various NAS systems
Hello!
In testing, I found that I get between a half and a quarter of the e/s inside a guest performance when ESXi 4 systems connect to the using NFS data store if the clients connect to the exact same NFS share. However, I don't see this effect if the data store using iSCSI or local storage. This has been reproduced with different systems running ESXi 4 and NAS systems.
My test is very simple. I created naked CentOS 5.4 minimum installation (completely updated 07/04/2010) with VMware Tools loaded and the creation time of a file of 256 MB using jj. I create the file on the root (a VMDK stored in different data warehouses) partition or a directory of the NAS mounted via NFS, directly in the comments
My crucial test configuration consists of a single test PC (Intel 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU with a single Intel 82567LM-3 Gigabit NC and 4 GB RAM) running ESXi 4 connected to a printer HP Procurve 1810 - 24 G, which is connected to a VIA EPIA M700 NAS system running OpenFiler 2.3 with two 1.5 to 7200 tr / MIN SATA disks configured in front of software RAID 1 and dual Gigabit Ethernet NIC. However, I have reproduced it with different ESXi PC and NAS systems.
This is a release of one of the tests. In this case, the VMDK is a store of data stored on the NAS via NFS:
-
root@iridium /sync #; Sync; Sync; time {dd if = / dev/zero of = bs = 1 M count = test.txt 256 sync; sync; sync ;}}

The first dd is a VMDK stored in a connected via NFS data store. The dd ends almost immediately, but the synchronization takes nearly 40 seconds! It's less than 7 MB per second transfer rate: very slow. Then I get the exact same NFS share that ESXi is used to store data directly in the comments and repeat the DD. As you can see, the SD is longer and the synchronization takes no real time (as befits a NFS share with active sync), and the whole process takes less than 10 seconds: this is four times faster!
I don't see these results on data warehouses mounted via NFS. For example, here is a test on the guest even running from a mounted via iSCSI data store (using the exact same SIN):
-
root@iridium /sync #; Sync; Sync; time {dd if = / dev/zero of = bs = 1 M count = test.txt 256 sync; sync; sync ;}}

And the same comments linking internal SATA drive of the PC ESXi:

As you can see, the performance of NFS direct comments for each of the three are very consistent. ISCSI and the performance of the store local data disk are both a bit better than that - as I expect. But the mounted via NFS data store gets only a fraction of the perfomance of the any of them. Obviously, something is wrong.
I was able to reproduce this effect with an Iomega Ix4 - 200 d as well. The difference is not as dramatic, but
always important and consistent. Here is a test of a guest of CentOS using a VMDK stored in a data store provided by an Ix4 - 200 d via NFS:-.root@palladium /sync #; Sync; Sync; time {dd if = / dev/zero of = bs = 1 M count = test.txt 256 sync; sync; sync ;}}

Once more, the direct NFS mount gives very consistent results. But using the diskette provided by ESXi on a mounted NFS datastore gives still worse results. They are not as terrible as OpenFiler test results, but they are constantly between 60% and 100% longer.
Why is this? What I've read, NFS performace is supposed to be within a few percent of the iSCSI performance, and yet I see between 60% and 400% worse performance. And this isn't a case of the SIN is not able to provide correct NFS performance. When I connect to the NAS via NFS directly inside the guest, I see much better than when ESXi connects to the same NAS (the same proportion!) via NFS.
The configuration of ESXi (network and network cards) is 100% stock. There is no VLAN in place, etc., and ESXi system has only one
Single Gigabit adapter. It is certainly not optimal, but it doesn't seem to me to be able to explain why a virtualized guest is able to get a lot better performance NFS as ESXi itself to the same NAS. After all, they both use the same exact suboptimal network configuration...
Thank you very much for your help. I would be grateful any idea or advice, you might be able to give me.
Hi all
It is very definitely a performance O_Sync problem. It is well known that NFS VMware shops still use O_Sync for writes little matter what share put for a default value. VMware uses a custom file locking system so you really can't compare it to a normal NFS share connection to a different NFS client.
I have validated that the performance will be good if you have an SSD cache or storage target with enough reliable battery backup.

But since August the year last, I am facing problem and my device hung on several occasions. I restored the device, I tried to restored on the plant but no help. Is it possible if I replace win 8 for windows 7 because I feel very uncomfortable.
Thanks & best regards,

Having problems with ESXi/vSphere Client Network
First of all, I apologize if it's thread is in the wrong section.
I recently installed ESXi v6.0.0 in VMware Workstation 12.0 trying to familiarize myself with ESXi as I recently graduated and I forgot most of what I learned from the class I took.
Then, ESXi installed smoothly and was very painless.
Then, I tried to create a virtual machine. It's when things are messy. I can't understand why, but I don't get any network connectivity after obtaining a DHCP address to all within the virtual machine, in addition to being able to ping the host ESXi itself.
First of all, networking is like so:
10.10.10.1 router/gateway
10.10.10.254 DHCP, DNS, server, VMware Workstation files 12
10.10.10.250 ESXi host
10.10.10.244 ESXi reviews - Windows 7
Googles DNS 8.8.8.8
VMware workstation 12:
AMD FX-8350
Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection
NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 520] (rev a1) - However, not allowed to work with VMware VMware or xvnc throws a fit to this topic

This could be a problem of permission on the host vmnet adapter, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/287.

Network problems intermittent management with more than 1 works ESXi
Hello
I had problems since installation with our 2 x ESXi 5.5 nodes running on a Dell VRTX system.
If I had to run 1 ESXi nodes on its own, it works perfectly, no problems what so ever, but as soon as I start the 2nd node they network for the management network connectivity problems. However any virtual machine that you are running on them have no problem at all.
The easiest way for me to check it comes to ping the management network and it will be on one of the nodes timeout, then it will randomly and knitting on this node but timeout on the other, they will never return a ping at the same time.
If anyone has experienced this before? I fight to see if there is a problem with the installation on the ESXi hosts, the network Dell VRTX or our NetGear switch.I tried a lot of solutions and been through the different pages of VMware KB but can't seem to find something that suits him.
The network Dell 8 physical ports are all in one LAG with 2 nodes added, I tried the distinct lag, but that made no difference, I am focusing now on if it is a parameter of VMware to see where that gets me.
That's how the two nodes are configured.
Solved!
Finally, I spotted the problem, and VMware technical support fixed it for me.
The MAC address of each management network was the same!, for some reason, the host of the 2nd got the MAC address of a NIC to host the premiere, don't know how its possible but VMware support restored all of the network settings from scratch and it picked up the correct MAC and works.
Thank you all for your suggestions.

Strange problem with ESXI 4 e1000 windows 2003
Hello
I have a problem with ESXi all my vm will not have access to the Internet with the default E1000 network card...
I can ping google or any other machine, but not access with ie/firefox. If I set up the virtual machine with vmXnet 3 it work perfect.
Given that I'm about to convert a win 2000 Server and vmxnet is not supported on this operating system, I'm looking for a solution
My dns are ok tried with the dns domain by default and open dns
I can ping google but failed to load the web page
I can ping my file server, but can not access to search for the file.
Anyone with an idea.
Thank you
Is there a drawback using series vmxnet on all my virtual machine?
No.... If you have installed VMware tools

Problem with HP DL 360 G6 with ESXi 4.0
Dear all,
We have a HP DL360G6 server and we have installed ESXi 4.0. After that copy us a file to the data store or install a virtual machine, and after that restart the server, the server can not boot and lost everthing. We tried to fix with ESXi Installer and it says that the disc contains "invalid or damaged partition table".
Thanks for the answers in advance.
