Factory restore fails on my p6754y to the same percentage of completion

I tried the internal repair and it failed several times, after that, I tried internal Facrory recovery several times with faiures so.  I then used the recovery disks created by the system when I started using it.  Are the repeated failure of both internal and external recovery programs, a sign that the hard drive is the problem?  I can say that recoveries of factory attempted by the recovery disks has not the same percentage.  I'm not sure of previous attempts, because I was not then followed by this information.

Also, if I replace the HD with a new, can I use the system generated factroy restore program.  This will restore the 2 hidden directores, blocks, or whatever the correct term is for the restoration of the plant and system in overlapping areas as they existed when the DVD made by the system?

John G.

Paul,

Thank you for your patience and your help.  I am now running.  What he did was the installation of the ISO of Win7 I have pulled down.   He seems to have settled things as part of the installation. I now drive C: with 799 GB free, with 97.5 free GB D: and E: with 2.26 GB franco start 13 GB.  This last 4th partition disappeared from view and is probably for use of the system.

For now, I'm leaving only the system. It seems that the C: partition does most of the work.   If she ever (with 790 free GB?) becomes crowded, I would add just a new disk.  Or get a new system.

I find it interesting that partitions are not used in the order shown just after the resumption, but who's going to argue.  I had thought about using a tool such as Partition Magic, but what I had just remembered.

Thanks again

I understand that you use Norton or McAfee, but I stick my standard "System Restore does not" answer for you to read and meditate.

Microsoft suggests that if SR does not behave, sometimes it will behave if you start in Mode safe then give a whirl.  It could also be that your SR is reached, you must reinstall (you don't have to reinstall XP - only the part of SR).

    Here you go:

What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..
What is the issue that you are experiencing that you think that the system restore will be remedied (or you are just convenient)?  Remember that the system restore is not a time machine.

Have you ever used the system restore to restore your system in the past?

Describe exactly what happens when you try to perform a system restore and the error messages you see which indicates that it does not work.

Some tools Anti Virus 'protect' your system so that they will not allow a restore of the system work properly.

For example, if you use Norton/Symantec products, you will see a message like this:
Restoration incomplete. Your computer cannot be restored...
It is also a popular Symantec problem (well, I'll be polite and call an "undocumented feature"...), they wrote an article about it:
According to what you use for malware protection, you may need to disable the product temporarily, do the system restore and then turn the products light up again when the system restore is complete.
Sometimes you need start your system in Mode safe and so that your protection programs are not running, and then do the system restore.  Tips from Microsoft in some of their articles that if the system restore does not restore your computer, start in Safe Mode, and then run the system restore.  It works for some configurations.
System Restore is sometimes so afflicted or Restore Points are suspicious, the best solution is to reinstall your system restore.  This will remove the old Restore Points, but sometimes it's the only way to fix a broken system restore.  You don't have to reinstall XP, only the part of system restore.
That can leave you with your problem of unspecified origin that you hope the system restore will fix (using a system restore is usually not equivalent to fixing the problem though).
Give these ideas some consideration if they apply to you.
Sometimes malicious will afflict your system restore to prevent you to find and remove malware.  It would much rather you trick into thinking that you need to repair or reinstall your XP when it is not necessary.
No matter what you use for protection against malware, I do so and then only begin to solve any problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs can solve any problems:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
It can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • Copied Factory.wim deployment on multiple machines of the same model (Optiplex 990)

    Hi all

I have Optiplex 990 3 machines with hardware identical configs. Two of the machines had their recovery partitions crushed over the last re - install Windows. However, one of the machines has the recovery intact with the Factory.wim partition.

I was going to copy the Factory.wim of this machine to a bootable USB key and use a wim file to restore the other two with new hard disks. Could their be a problem this other that maybe change machines restored to use the license windows for this machine? Could their be any problem of SID it?

    Hi Bryguy21,

There is no licensing problem with what you want to do as far as Windows is the same flavor on each of them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Near NightWing.

I believe that the predicate can be used to access THE index entries and if entries of access could include potentially "false positives" then filtering is required to remove the FPs.

This filtering can be done in the same step of the operation (such as access) or as an extra step.

My apologies, this has become much longer and more detailed that I intended it to be. :-(

    If I understand correctly,

In terms of the explanation of the path, each step can include access and filtering process for "entries" (index or line). In the plan to explain the predicate section shows Information the use of predicate for step 'matching. "

Some predicates can be "used" to ACCESS (ing) the entries, while the same or additional predicates (or even other) can be "used" to FILTER (ing) access entries (which have been consulted, but the optimizer is not sure that EACH AACCESSed entry is indeed a part of final result set). In such cases optimizer applies filtering predicate also during the operation stage. The optimizer can sometime even add additional operation steps or predicate [almost like a short circuit]

So, using our previous configuration, allow us to run test cases.

In this query we use AS predicate but the operand does NOT contain any 'wild' character In this case INDEX RANGE SCAN is performed, but since there is no wild characters are involved we can be sure that each entry using this predicate is indeed part of the final result set. This predicate Section shows that the predicate is used ONLY to access (index) entries.

We know that the result set of this query is NULL lines.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 as "A".

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX RANGE SCAN | TSTV1_IDX |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - access ("V1" = 'A')

However, in this application, there is a wildcard character in the predicate, so while the INDEX RANGE SCAN step access entries using this predicate, it could potentially access entries that can be part of the final result set. So in the SAME step of the INDEX RANGE SCAN operation the predicate is also used for filtering. Since this is the only predicate, it may seem redundant.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 like 'a % '.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |    24.   168.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX RANGE SCAN | TSTV1_IDX |    24.   168.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - access ("V1" LIKE 'A %')

    filter ("V1" LIKE 'A %')

If we add an another predicate as below (also includes wild character), it gets interesting. INDEX RANGE SCAN step performs two access AND filtering.

Please note that the predicate 'V1' AS '%' is used to ACCESS and FILTER, fine FILTER uses additional predicates.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 like 'A %' and v1 as "%c".

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX RANGE SCAN | TSTV1_IDX |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - access ("V1" LIKE 'A %')

    filter ("V1" IS NOT NULL AND "V1" LIKE 'A %') AND "V1" LIKE "%c"

When we change the predicate 'V1' LIKE 'A %' to 'V1' > 'A', then we can use the predicate to access entries AND do not forget that each entry using this predicate are

Indeed part of results if other predicates are met. In this case optimizer of must not filter on 'V1' > 'A', wherever it must continue to filter on 'V1' LIKE '%c '.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 > 'A' and v1 as "%c".

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX RANGE SCAN | TSTV1_IDX |     1.     7.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - access("V1">'A')

filter ("V1" IS NOT NULL AND "V1" LIKE "%c")

Of course, if we do the predicate so that the entries are NOT accessible using the predicate, then for INDEX FULL SCAN (no Beach cannot be determined) operation comes into play and the predicate of ACCESS goes. All entries in the index are ALWAYS accessible (predicate applied no ACCESS) and FILTER predicate is applied.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 like '%c %'

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |     1.     8 S     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX SCAN FULL | TSTV1_IDX |     1.     8 S     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - filter ("V1" IS NOT NULL AND "V1" LIKE '%A%c')

For the example proposed by JL, two predicates are used in the INDEX RANGE SCAN step to access THE entries. In addition, we can be sure that all entries that are accessible with success using this predicate can be included in the final result set. So not necessary filtering.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 > 'A' and v1<>

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |    24.   168.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    |*  1 |  INDEX RANGE SCAN | TSTV1_IDX |    24.   168.     1 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1 - access("V1">'A' AND "V1")<>

Interestingly, when we change the 'B' in the previous query to 'A', change predicates of inequality, so we cannot use index. Optimizer knows this and switches for FTS and introduced an additional step of operation FILTER. In my view, the filter predicate can be applied in operation of FTS. Additional FILTER stage is the predicate as FALSE hard-coded value. It does not yet use our predicate of the query.

Well, don't know if he actually bypasses the operation of FTS. SQL trace can indicate that.

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 > 'A' and v1<>

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |      |     1.     8 S     0 (0) |          |

    |*  1 |  FILTER |      |       |       |            |          |

    |   2.   TABLE ACCESS FULL | TST |    49.   343.     3 (0) | 00:00:01 |

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Information of predicates (identified by the operation identity card):

    ---------------------------------------------------

1 - filter (NULL IS NOT NULL AND NULL IS NOT NULL)

Subsequently, optimizer decides to use the INDEX RANGE SCAN, even if the predicate is always an inequality. Go figure...

    > explain plan for select v1 of tst where v1 > 'A' and v1<=>

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    | ID | Operation | Name | Lines | Bytes | Cost (% CPU). Time |

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello

Yes, you can use panelTabbed to create this type of layout and for the handling of commit or rollback

    1. If you want to commit and a rollback for all 3 tabs then place these buttons (Commit and Rollback) outside panelTabbed and allow the creation, update and deletion on all tabs at the same time, after completing the user operation can use commit or rollback for all tabs

    2. If you want to commit separate and operation of catering for the different tab, then create and modify mode disable other tabs except the active tab, and only after a commit or rollback in the current tab allow the user to navigate to the different tab

  • ASM will support Extern and up at the same time?

I'm confused.  If we have a group of redundant San who maintain the ASM disk group and our type is set to Extern, we put our confidence in snapshots, replication, and so on in the hands of the SAN.

Can you have Extern and high?  You can have ASM diskgroup that lies on the SAN but too high?

If you can not, then if you raised, and these starts on the SAN, what's the difference?  Are not often required database on a San with a server on the front-end server?

ASM diskgroup redundancy and redundancy SAN are not the same and work completely different. You cannot use extern ASM and redundancy high at the same time.

A San doesn't know anything about Oracle database files and redundancy is usually accomplished in RAID. ASM is not RAID and does not duplicate complete records. ASM data redundancy is based on failure of disk groups and file extensions. ASM knows by the way of the Oracle database files and automatically adjusts the deletion of data, which does not have a SAN. ASM has also the advantage of the storage size can be adjusted dynamically when the storage is online, without having to rebuild your storage devices. Rebuild or expand a SAN solution based RAID usually means to reset the storage.

Beware of the features of snapshot and SAN replication because they cannot provide full backup or redundancy if you lose the full storage.
