  • Impossible to P2V Windows 2003 x 64 server - an error occurred while opening a virtual disk

    Hello.

I have a physical Windows Server 2003 x 64 R2 Standard and try to convert it to vSphere with vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.0 VM 5.5.

When I start the task, VM is created on vSphere, but after a few seconds machine is removed and task collapsed with messages: "year error occurred opening a virtual disk." "Make sure the server Converter and source computer have a network access to hosts esx/esxi source and destination.

There are no problems with access to the network, I check.

I tried many things (disable SSL on the server Converter, converter running directly on the source machine, see providers vss on source...) but without success.

    Any idea is welcome.

    Thank you.

Please check if Windows Server is able to resolve the name of the ESXi host. If DNS does not work, add the ESXi host (s) of Windows server hosts file destination.

    Hello Hongchuong

It really looks like a secure network communication. You write no firewall blocks but we will go into more detail. The connection must be established from the Hyper-V (10.132.2.200) host to the ESXi (10.132.2.192) host on port 902, as in log lines:

An easy way to try the connectivity is telnet from the Hyper-V host to ESX host on port 902

I see you have also tried again to destination 10.132.2.191 with the same error.  It is possible that Hyper-V firewall is blocking.

  • An error occurred when accessing the Windows CardSpace...

So, I get this error message whenever I clicked on Windows CardSpace in Control Panel. "An error has occurred all by accessing the Windows CardSpace. Please see the the event log for more details. "I checked the event log and I read a bunch of posts which basically means the same thing. "An error occurred when communicating with the Windows CardSpace service." "" An unknown exception caused the request to fail. For more information, please see the event log. Inner exception: attempted to perform an unauthorized operation. ""An error occurrred while accessing the card collection.  The store directory or file ACL Bank had is shown to be altered. The ACL have now been restored to their default settings. ""An error occurrred while accessing the card collection.  Unable to open the store. »

    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

I logged the administrator account and noticed that Windows CardSpace actually worked. Well, it's good to know he works at least on one account...
I would try to make a new user account, but I haven't the time to copy everything back. I'm not seriously. Last week, I spent three hours to copy my files after reinstalling Windows. I really want to do it again.
I read that this may be evidence of a corrupted user profile, but I don't get any messages on my user profile be corrupt.
Is there an another fix for this error?
Please help me with this, I know other people had this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
