original title: program music keyboard key
How can I change the music button on my keyboard to launch Windows Media Player to launch WinAmp?
Thank you
Drew
As Mike Hall suggested, first look for the keyboard utility and seek to change the keyboard assignment there.
If this option is not available, you can try to change the default program to open files of music. I do not think that "hotkey" keyboard music trying to specifically open Windows Media Play, rather it opens the program assigned as the default value for the music.
So you'll need to get to the default programs control panel applet. To get there:
- Click Start , then Control Panel (in midway up on the right side)
- In the Control Panel window, click programs (not options, just the word more big programs). (If you have your set control panel to displayall items in the Panel control, then the applet default programs will be already visible and available directly)
- The second group of options should be the default programs. The two options here that should be of interest to you are:
Make a file always open in a specific program type and (especially) set your default programs.
You should find everything you need there.
- If this proposal of solution solves your problem, please go back and mark as answer for others to consider.

Failed to start Windows Media Player - Version problem
Hi all
When I try to start Windows Media Player, I get the following error:
the wmplayer.exe file has a version number of 12.0.7601.18526 where 12.0.7601.17514 was expected
I used WMP on this machine before with no problems, probably most recently about a month ago. I have automatic updates on so I don't know exactly when this problem started. I tried to uninstall/reinstall WMP, but this has not led to no success.
Here, any help would be great.
Thank you

Why do Adobe Reader download button launch windows Media Player?
I want to download a manual for my dishwasher. When I go to the MFG website. and locate the PDF file, and then click to 'run' or 'save' (at the office), run Windows Media Player. What is going on?? Please respond quickly and thanks. Steve Win 7, that is to say 10, Player 11
That looks like your file association for .pdf files is watered. You must assign to Adobe Reader instead of Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-default-programs#1TC=windows-7

wmpkc32.exe and 0xC00D1199 error code when I start Windows Media Player
Original title: wmpkc32.exe
I run Windows XP.and my PC shows 0xC00D1199 and wmpkc.exe at different times or places. Are these interdependent? This happens when I want to launch Windows Media Player.
Hello
-Did you change your computer, after which the question began?
-What version of Windows Media Player do you use?
-Does the problem occur when you try to read a particular file or type when you launch Windows Media Player?wmpkc32.exe process belongs to malware and may violate your privacy. Please, scan your computer and remove potential threats using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.
Note: You may lose the infected all data by eliminating malware.
0xC00D1199: cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because:
1) you try to play a file that is NOT supported by the player.
2) you try to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is NOT supported by the player.
3) the file type is supported, but you try to play in a way that is not supported by the player. For example, you may have attempted to drag a DVD file with a .vob to DVD to Windows Media Player icon.
I would recommend look you at this article and check if you play the file meets the criteria.

Hi, I use Windows Media Player, version11.0.5721.5280 and I try to resolve (but not save) the speed of the files that I play. I click on "improvements" and "cruise control" which supposedly allows me to change the speed settings. However, the "cursor" which supposedly allows me to do so does not. I am trying to transcribe something as soon as POSSIBLE, so your help is very appreciated!

I suggest following steps and check if you do not have:
a. launch Windows Media Player 11.
b. open the menu improvements. Click view > enhancements > play speed settings.
(c) or right click on the Now Playing > enhancements > play speed settings.
d. now, you can see a sign "play speed settings. Click Normal slow or fast to adjust the speed. Or move the slider to adjust the speed.
e. If you are having problems moving the slider, uncheck "Snap sider to common speeds.
f. now you can adjust the playback speed in Windows Media Player 11.

I am trying to run Shop and scan (market research), but when I insert the disk it says wmplayer.exe is version 11.0.5721.5145 where 11.0.6002.18311 was expected and windows media player is not installed correctly, and I need to re - install it, do I have to have Windows Vista reinstalled as come to do this via Dell as my computer has had some problems? Grateful for any suggestion.
Hello
Although the error message prompts you to reinstall the Windows Media Player, reinstalling does not necessarily fix the problem. Generally, the error message appears again when you try to launch Windows Media player after reinstallation.
Method 1: To resolve the problem, perform the following steps:
a. go to Start , then click run.
b. type following command in the Open box and then press enter:
c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP
The steps above resolve the confusion that your computer has been with the version numbers of Windows Media Player, and then corrects the error.
Method 2: Try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
a. click Startand type cmd in the box start the search.
b. right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click run as administrator.
c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
d. at the command prompts, the following line and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
