Failed Windows Update?

Found 2 new updates tonight (Mon, 09/03/15), and I assume that they are in fact the regular updates updated Tuesday.

March Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830) installed and executed ok but MSE definitions update (KB2310138) cannot install twice, both times with error code 80200053.

I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it after a few minutes it says 2 issues have been resolved. When I tried to install the MSE update once again, he says "Update is not necessary", and now when I check the updates again, it says "Windows is updated", but the updated history list shows the MSE update again as 'impossible '.

MSE showed a green icon on the taskbar and seemed to be happy when I open the MSE Control Panel.

I have done other things on the net and then checked again updates. The same update was offered again and it failed for the third time with the same error message again. NOW THAT?

Anyone else have problems with this MSE update? I use Win 7 Pro + SP1, 32-bit.

I hesitate to think this, but maybe this fixit will help you:

The same article also suggested a repair of Windows, but when I try to follow the tips in the article, I cannot perform an 'Upgrade', so that was a dead end.

I found another article, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509997 and I have tried SFC.exe (method 3), but this has reported no problems.

I'm only a bit technical, and the rest of the article seems a bit daunting, so I thought post log files and to see if anyone has any advice, I could not find another question in the forums that had the same problem as mine (and Vista)

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Hello

This is MS information about uninstalling Service Packs.

Method 1 or 3 are methods to use, method 2 is not possible because the system restore would be too far back the Restore Points for the installation of SP2 reverse this way.

And I've never had to use method 3.

  • Failed Windows Update: 0xC8000222.

I just had my hard drive replaced yesterday (windows Explorer has crashed constantly and when I ran to the system check it says the hard drive had to be replaced). I use Microsoft VIsta Home edition (32 bit system). I just restored windows using restore disks, but now I get this error message (0xC8000222) when I try to update windows (at least service pack 1 or 2 because at this moment I have not either). I have an error that WIndows Update can not be updated, because the program is not runnig and restart my computer (which I did 3 times without success). I tried to run the "fix it" tool microsoft offers, but when he downloaded it said that he could not be executed. I had not yet installed Norton, but when I did, I couldn't run the updates LIve Update either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

I suggest you try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to reset the Windows update components and then try to install the updates.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Method 2:

If the problem persists then set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check if the same problem occurs.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click on start toreduce this top that i, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

    (b) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (c) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

Method 3: Try to install Windows vista service pack 1 and 2 manually from the link below.

    Service pack 1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Learn-how-to-install-Windows-Vista-Service-Pack-1-SP1

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro with Win 7 Pro 64 bit installed.
It is a fresh to this machine load, after the original Vista installation fell to pieces.
It has been successfully activated by phone.
I downloaded all the main drivers on the site of Toshiba - video, sound, chipset, bios
Windows updates installed normally, he had done about 150 of them when it came.  The error is
"The Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running."  You may have to restart your computer.
I checked this, and the BITS and Windows Update services are running in automatic mode and is set to open a session under the Local Service account.
I was also wondering if it would solve a complete installation of SP1 and have uploaded it separately, but it does not affect it.
I also renamed the windowsupdate.log file and folder softwaredistributon and rebooted, but there is also no effect.
various other tools of fixit MS claim solve the errors, but the problem remains.

Hello, I'm sure that my computer is infected with a sirefef, I want to know if there is a free way to get rid of it, I ran so many antivirus scanners and malware/rootkit software and is not fixed. Please help and I hope that my problem will be solved. Ask if you need more details. Thank you.

  • Windows update fails-G62-225DX - bad startup a factory?

My nephew came to me recently with a G62-225DX HP, concerned about safety.  Given this machine is several years old (recently handed down from his father - I quickly understood why), I was surprised to see she was always being basic Windows 7 Home Premium.  Without SP1.

My first attempt to resolve this was to run Windows Update - no luck - immediately fails with "cannot run - services is not started.  Of course, verification services, yes I see WU and BITS running.

So, like any good tech person, I check in the case where the logs and see various errors, including the constant complaints on the Crypto database being corrupted.

Then, up to be Googling for these symptoms/messages.  I see many people with the same problem and a lot of suggestions on how to fix this (re - reg WU, STRANDS of clear/reset, flush/empty C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, catroot2 flush/empty, etc.).  Even seen one on the Intel hard drive problems due to replace it with a drive of more than 500 GB (this unit still has the original 320).

Spent hours trying all the suggestions there, especially when people said 'Yes, that fixed', nothing helps.

Since it was not something of value on this machine, I decide backup and restore "factory".

Imagine my surprise when, after reset of the image 'factory', it has exactly the same problem - Windows Update fails, out-of-the-box on the right!

I think to myself, it's crazy.  The machine is faulty from the start and everyone was naïve to not get Windows updates, AT ALL!

I even decided to try the Windows Update Checker (supposed to perform before installing SP1) and it fails with ' Windows Update Standalone install encountered and error - 0xc80000247 ".

So, I decided to run through the suggested fixes (from M$, no less) and all of a sudden, that Windows Update works.

I thought, it's fantastic.  He immediately calls to > 130 fixed critical.

After a few hours of download and installed, I restart only to get a BSOD - STOP 6 b - AAARRRGGGHHHH!  Tried to go through Windows restore previous checkpoint but that too fails with a mysterious error.  In addition, many Google hits on the 6 b says that it's a hardware problem.  But he was executed until the Windows update, with nothing in the case where newspapers to indicate hardware problems.

Then, I decided to do a restore from the image of what I started with.  At least it ran, even though she could not be updated.

I no longer dig and see a bunch of updates to the firmware/software for this machine, including the BIOS.  Even saw some strange 'Windows updates' HP.  I thought maybe it was something like the fiasco when the power management update for Intel processors had on machines AMD, thus paralyzing them!  Still nothing - WU still does not work!

Tried again to return to the original image, hoping that maybe to install all updates of office/hardware/driver on a virgin machine solve the problem.  Nope-WU still does not work.  Even went back through all the suggested fixed (saved as .bat files everthing).  Nothing, nada...

So, I'm posting here in hopes that someone has a miracle cure that I missed.

    Hello:

    I don't have a magic bullet...

The same thing happened to me while working on a friends HP 8100 Elite CMT, Windows 7 Pro, HP original image.

Would not install SP1 or Windows updates. I tried every trick in the book and after spending more than two hours, going nowhere, including restore from the recovery discs, I decided to install a plain OS W7 clean add drivers myself using the product key for W7 on the PC.

    It has worked well.

You can do the same thing if you can read the product key of W7 on the bottom of the laptop, and your nephew can't live without programs that was shipped with the PC.

In addition, if you format the drive and just install W7 on current partition, you can probably find the program of the installation files for the programs supplied with the PC in the SWSetup folder.

Here's how to do when you don't have installation of W7 media.

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below. Download the Windows 7 version that is on your product (Home Premium, professional or ultimate) key to apply.

If the provider uses a Proxy Server, you need to enter the proxy in Internet Explorer connection settings.
