Failure of hard drive on Satellite A660

I bought a new Toshiba A series 9 months ago.
Less than a week, I had to go back, because the sound card did not work. The store I bought did not have an identical replacement the replacement model cost me an extra $ 150.
Now the hard drive failed.

Any attempt to save whatever it is will fail so I'm going to lose everything, including a major contract. Toshiba tell me that I should go and pay a computer store to back up my files!
I would consider it a chance except that a friend who purchased a Qosmio, a month before I bought my A660 also had its hard drive fail. He has reportedly been repaired under warranty but still does not work.

So much for Toshiba indicating "Toshiba believes that reliability is the single most important feature a laptop can have and understands that he must be built in and not something that can be bolted on."

Sorry to hear you have all these problems. Unfortunately I can't help you much, but if you have a problem hardware and warranty is still valid don't clarify this store but with the nearest Toshiba direct service provider.

    I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop.  The HARD drive failed and the system unusable.  I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media.  The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.

    The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid.  I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.

    I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Windows tries to start, but goes to a blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for a second, then just guard recycling until I force a shutdown.

    Phoenix BIOS, hard drive test result: "Fail #1-08".

    I ran a program to drive on the Cdrive analysis/recovery and it seems to show the directory structure intact, and he was able to recover some files. I used the free Seagate (which only retrieves the small files). The second pass only works so well and in the third set as the program says that I should not go further, and I need to contact a professional drive recovery company.

    However, drive D seems to be intact, so I wonder if the disc is damaged or just one aspect of the logical drive C is bad.

    Creator of disc of Acronis does not for me but I know for sure that you can split the capacity of the HARD drive into two partitions with rendering recovery DVDs. Start your laptop with recovery DVDs and check the option to install it.

    You must have a mobile US model. I am from Europe and I don't know about you how it works with the recovery media in the United States, but it should be similar to the European and because of that it must be an option to divide the capacity of the HARD disk with two partitions.

    I have the Satellite P200D with place for second HARD drive, but there is no connector HDD SATA upgrade is not possible.

    I have Satellite A300 with two hard drives and each HARD drive has another operating system. Both hard drives are recognized correctly.
    I put t know what the problem is here, but the two hard disks should be recognized automatically.
    Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.
    Try to start the check and install Microsoft bootable disk if the two hard disks are displayed in Setup.

    I just hope that there is not a hardware problem.

    Hmmmm... It's very strange that you n t have idea how to start. Throughout history, there are only two options:
    -for the installation of an operating system you can use the original Toshiba Recovery disk that came with this laptop. If you n t have it then
