Re: Satellite A300/U01 - failure of HARD drive?
I tried to start my A300/U01 this morning and nothing happened after the noise/power/keyboard illuminated lights.
I tried again and this time, the BIOS screen is appeared, but nothing later. The HD light never informed. I hear the ticking of the light in the machine, but nothing as if the HD was running fine.
(1) that indicate a mechanical failure of the hard drive?
(2) if so I lost all data on this drive?
I have only a single folder, I care; Unfortunately, I've been lax in my backup.
> 1) is - that this Signals a mechanical hard drive failure?
N ° access to the BIOS (press F2) and check if the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS. If it s are not not in the BIOS, this means that the HARD disk is dead.
(> 2) if so I lose all the data on this drive?
Well, if the HARD drive was dying then you would lose data also, but first it of necessary to know if the HARD drive is really dead. For this check point 1.

Satellite A300 - how to start HARD drive recovery after own OS insatallation
Hi guys.
I have a question.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300, which came with Windows Vista.
Normally I have the recovery with the normally pre-installed utility partition.
After that I formatted the system partition, I installed a clean and fresh Windows 7 copy.My question is this.
Since the recovery partition does not get soiled with, is there not a way to install the disk recovery utility hard back in recovery of Windows of F8 before the boot options? Please don't tell me that I need to have the recovery disk.
I already did, I just want to find a solution because it is not that hard for someone who accidentally formatted the system partition and had not created the disks, but the recovery partition. My guess is to do some modifications in the files of the Windows recovery environment that are launched when you use the option to repair my computer at startup, because normally, HARD drive recovery utility appears as one of its tools-options.The problem is that I don't have to where these files are, maybe (C:\boot?)
Currently, I am trying to see if a facility upgrade of windows 7 on windows vista will keep options for hard drive recovery then maybe I will find what it takes. All suggestions are welcome!
Thank you for your time.OK, just a hint more, I found what is happening with the recovery environment, and which must be replaced to include more tools...

Satellite A300 - install the secondary hard drive
Hi all
I'm new to the forum.
I was thinking about adding a second hard drive of my laptop.
I saw that there is a single disc and a space for a secondIs this possible? If so, what drive would be worth?
Thank you
Hello
In my opinion this is not possible.
To me, it seems that there is no second connector and to the 2nd HARD drive controller.
There is a second HARD-drive bay because there are different models A300 with a different hardware configuration and motherboards, but the same top and bottom covers, so there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay even if the connectors are not available. -

Satellite P215 get SMART failure on hard drive
Hello
I've had my laptop for a year now, and just recently, I noticed everything using that everything has become much slower and more something else that I couldn't run as much multitasking I could before without the screen freeze and have to wait until he gets treated. The level of multitasking is not serious, I mean that a laptop of this caliber should be able to have a streaming of youtube video play without problem as both messenger and Microsoft Word have. Recently, it has been quite frustrating and makes me want to throw computer laptop in the room, but I persevere. Moreover, I also realized that the game I used to play works is no longer (I wonder if it's the same question)
I formatted the hard drive and installed windows vista (with the CD that was given to me when I bought the computer) and the first time he had actually installation problems I had to do it twice. The second time it has installed fine and it worked for a week and then it started to slow down terribly again.
After restart the computer message popped up indicating SMART: failure on hard drive Hitachi-(s1) 4, so I followed the instructions given by another thread with a similar problem. I tried the hitachi Drive Fitness Test and the program would not even load, it would get to the point where it says «Loading DFT»... ' and he would just stay there... I guess that is not compatible with Vista or something.
What can I do in addition to evidence of the replacement of the hard drive? The cause of the downturn from the computer to the bass and the game does not work because of the HD about to fail? If there is a way to solve this problem, I would like to know
Thank you
MichaelIn my view the HARD disk, you should be exchanged and Yes, it could be the reason why the computer slows down, and some games do not work.
I had the same problem a few years ago on my desktop PC computer is very slow and I can t install a game. Whenever I tried it, I got a BSOD. Then I switched the HARD drive and everything worked very well.I put t know why the Drive Fitness Test does not start on your computer, but if you get a SMART error HARD drive should be exchanged permanently.
If your laptop is under warranty, you must contact an ASP. Then the repair should be free.
Good luck!

Hello
The HARD drive may begin to malfunction because it s a part not reusable.
I'm not very well why the HARD drive starts to malfunction in these times early in any case the party m can be replaced very easily and usually you don t we had to send the laptop to the ASP.Get in touch with an ASP and ask compatible HARD drive. If it s covered by the warranty, you should get so much for free, otherwise you will need to purchase these parts.
However, here you can check how to replace the HDD:

Satellite A135 - new installation of HARD drive "windows cannot be configured.
I have a portable Satellite A135-S4467 with a hard drive failed (WD 160 GB).
I bought a new hard drive (WD 320 GB).
When I try to install windows vista (32 bit) on the new hard drive by using the original factory software installation CD toshiba, I get the following error message:
"windows cannot be configured to run on this computer hardware. After reboot, Windows will start normally or in safe mode.
I updated the BIOS to version 1.9.
I tried also to install the updated RAID/AHCI drivers of intel to the windows installation, as recommended by the windows forums - I always get the same error message, even after several attempts to completely reinstall windows.Several forums, I searched for recommended to change the settings of the HDD (RAID COSM) in the BIOS.
I don't know how / if to do this. When I enter the BIOS, I see the hard drive, but I can't select it, so I couldn't try it.It seems that I've tried everything, without success. I took care to unplug all external/etc devices during the installation as well. I also did all the drivers are for vista 32 bit.
Help, please!
Have you tried to install the OS using the Microsoft installation disc?
There may be a compatibility problem with your new HARD drive.Do you get a place another HARD disk capacity not more than 200GB and test it?

Can satellite M70 - I use all hard drives 2.5 "?
All HDD 2.5 "can be put in Satellite M70 or they must have specific dimensions? For example, I thin on Samsung spinpoint [model: http://www.pricerunner.com/pl/36-765680/Hard-Drives/Samsung-SpinPoint-T166-320GB-SATAII-7200rpm-Compare-Prices].
It will be OK for my laptop?
Hello!
As far as I know the Satellite M70 was available with hard drives SATA and IDE hard drives. If you have a SATA HDD, you can use this HARD drive.
The Satellite M70 takes to load only SATA150 (SATA1) but this isn't a problem. All SATA2 HDDs runs SATA1 mode and are 100% compatible.

Windows 7 will not activate with the OEM key, after the failure of HARD drive.
Hello
I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop. The HARD drive failed and the system unusable. I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media. The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.
The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid. I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.
I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Failure of hard drive on HP laptop DV 6000 Pavilion Windows XPsp3 OS - need help data recovery
Failure of hard drive on HP laptop DV 6000 Pavilion - need help data recovery
HP Pavilion DV 6108 NR, RG365UA, purchased late 2006 at best buy, with Windows XP, upgrade to Service Pack 3. It has a Fujitsu 60 GB HDD partitioned into C: and a D: Recovery.
Windows tries to start, but goes to a blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for a second, then just guard recycling until I force a shutdown.
Phoenix BIOS, hard drive test result: "Fail #1-08".
I ran a program to drive on the Cdrive analysis/recovery and it seems to show the directory structure intact, and he was able to recover some files. I used the free Seagate (which only retrieves the small files). The second pass only works so well and in the third set as the program says that I should not go further, and I need to contact a professional drive recovery company.
However, drive D seems to be intact, so I wonder if the disc is damaged or just one aspect of the logical drive C is bad.
How can I get the D: to run recovery on it software? The recovery discs, made by Best Buy, just proceed to the R / F / Q option screen, and when I press R, I get a blue screen every time.
Pressing the F10 key at startup bothers me nowhere. Ditto the key F11.I don't like hard disk; This is the data (files, documents, images, etc.) that I want to.
I contacted HP to order recovery disks, but they are no longer available for my computer.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.
For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device
