Features of VMware Operations Manager Enterprise 5.0 Forensics

Hi all!

I'm trying the Operations Manager Enterprice 5.0 (trial version) for a few days and I'm a little confused on something, so I would appreciate help! I'm studying the Operations Manager Enterprice 5.0 Getting Started Guide, which explicitly refers to some duties of forensic analysis of the program, but I can't really find this option. Any person, or by using this option? I would really appreciate some help on this! Thank you!

PS: I also join the pdf I use

Yes, in practice, when you say 'you need to see the custom user interface and vSphere UI as two different products' what exactly do I have to do to be able to use the custom user interface?

Already, the answer has been given in this thread.

To clarify:

In the vSphere client, the "Plugin" that you have a screenshot for is simply the URL vcops-vsphere incorporated in the vSphere client.

What we call "vSphere UI.

Custom or Enterprise user interface is not available in this view.

The custom user interface requires a unique set of permissions and generally LDAP rest in what concerns authentication.

So, if you are an "Admin" in vCenter, it doesn't matter in the custom, user interface because it's supported LDAP (which I mentioned in a previous post).

Further, hitting the point:

  • There are 3 UI.

  • Each user interface requires different credentials
  • Only the UI vSphere is accessible from the vSphere client
  • The custom UI needs LDAP and different permissions, which are described in the Administrator's guide

Series, I really think you would benefit from reading our admin and user for this product guides.

    Hello

Not sure if the site confused me or is it just me? I'm looking to download vCenter Operations Manager Enterprise 5.0 as it is called on the Installation and the Configuration Guide.

What I find is VMware vCenter 5.0.2 enterprise operations. Is this the same thing, not enough Manager in there? I think that my 5.0 license will work with 5.0.2 but why is it not the same name? I'm looking for even for good download? So so very well, otherwise where the devil is she lol

Thank you for your help... Jim

Hi Jim, looking to the correct download.

  • Can it differentiate please vmware Sphere operation management and VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0?

    Hello

We have a license for VMware vSphere 6 with operations management Enterprise Plus for 1 processor

Can explain everything about the use of these products and differentiate? Also, do I need to buy VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 license to use this VSOM?

vSphere with operations management Enterprise Plus 1 processor 6 includes 1 processor for vSphere Enterprise 6, Plus and one license for vRealize Operations Manager Standard.  You don't need to purchase vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 to use vSOM, as it is included.

  • Updated VMware vCenter Operations Manager tools

Hello everyone, I just use Citrix Xenserver to VMware vCenter with Operations Manager 5.8.4.  I've looked everywhere and cannot find an answer to this.  Is it possible to update VMware tools in the vCOPS TIME?  I just started my new environment with v8 of Veeam backup and he lets know me that VMware tools are outdated.  The only reason why I ask because, coming from Citrix Xenserver v6.2, whenever a device from the virtual computer is provided by Citrix, you're stuck with the tools provided in this unit until they update the device.

If it's good to update the VMware tools, it's as simple as opening the console to each virtual machine in the vApp and he tell the ' Install/Upgrade Vmware Tools?  Or is there a more complicated step?

    Thank you

    Brett

As far as I KNOW, the VMware tools upgrade is not recommended on vCops.

This breaks the device and you can ignore the message of the VMware tools obsolete.

  • Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Pack for vmware view?

According to the link below, there is a vmware view management pack available for MS operations manager:

    http://blogs.VMware.com/view-point/2010/08/view-45-modernizing-the-Windows-desktop.html

Where can I download this? I was not able to find it in the download portal.

This package is actually available on the login server view itself once you have it installed.

  • Can we use VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise to manage ESXi 3.5?

We plan to buy VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise to manage ours 4 ESXi 3.5 hosts, but we are not sure if there is any kind of limitation to do. For example Veeam Backup no longer support ESXi?

    http://www.Veeam.com/news/Veeam-software-offers-new-Essentials-Bundle-acceleration-kits-for-VMware-vSphere4.html

    Thank you

As we already mentioned, you can manage the 3.5 hosts with vCenter 4.0, but also you can same VMotion VMs between 3.5 and 4.0 hosts. So you can switch to 4.0 without service interruption.

    1. switch vCenter 4.0

2 migrate all virtual machines on a host, put it in maintenance mode.

3 upgrade host with Update manager

4 goto 2 until all hosts are upgraded.

  • Failed to create dashboard customized by vRealize Operation manager

    Hi all

I just deployed a cluster of vRealize (v.6.0.2) Operations Manager and I am able to deploy solutions/manage roles inside. However, when I want to create the custom dashboard, I found that there is no such option for me.

    Cannot_CreateDashboard1.png

I connect the administrator account created during the installation, which is supposed to have every permission.

    Cannot_CreateDashboard2.png

No suspicion on which permission/configuration I may have missed to create dashboard?

    Thank you

Looks like you are using a key of vSOM.  I see it's enterprise edition, which entitles you to vSphere Enterprise, but all versions of vSOM give access to only the Operations Manager Standard edition features vRealize.

    What's new:

    More flexibility with capacity planning

    • Capacity Assess risk and plan of distribution and effective demand: define your varied business needs-based strategies to assess the risk of the capacity, efficiency and forecasts. For example, different pads, too commit thresholds of alert, schedules, reports, etc., in production and test-dev environments.
    • New views for Cluster capacity risk: identify quickly via color view of risk of ability to Cluster clusters grouped by commercial criteria, etc., are threatened by ability - right size faces a deficit of capacity now or in the near future, or all simply not.  Down for each cluster in Cluster mode risk detail to analyze what resource is forced on and why.
    • New common environments and workloads policies: new policies of out-of-the-box, such as the Production and Test-Dev strategies, enable a quick installation of the capability settings of Operations Manager to vCenter for types of common environments. Additional new out-of-the-box policies, such as batch workload, interactive workload and political to ignore the virtual machines, help to refine the ability of law with precision settings dimensions and analyze different workloads based on their performance characteristics.

    Improved self-monitoring

This version introduces new diagnostic measures to monitor the health and availability of the components of Operations Manager vCenter, such as analytical, collector, Active MQ, Web server, database, and operating system.

Widgets with flexibility and ease of use

    • Health Tree Widget: facilitate the visualization for a large number of objects.
    • Generic Widget Scoreboard: graphics support Sparkline, metrics channel and filtering by resource settings.
    • Metric Sparkline Widget: configurable color ranges and units, are supported for the type of resource and the label.

You can configure display it resources discovered by vCenter Infrastructure Navigator in vCenter Operations Manager. This version introduced a feature of configurable Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filtering to control the service and Application reporting of Application resources. For each resource type, you can set up a "black list" or "whiteList" filtering in the filterList.txtconfiguration file.

    • black list: the Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter ignores the specified entries. If a name of Service Application or an Application name is included in the "black list", it is not reported by the adapter to Infrastructure Navigator vCenter. It is the default setting. The Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filters unknown names of default Application services.

  • Operations Manager integration with vSphere Web Client

    Hello

One of the new features that I keep seeing credited for vCenter Operations Manager v5.6 is 'integration with vSphere Web Client'.

I went through the process of getting vCOps operational v5.6 (and everything works fine), but I don't see any integration with the Web Client.  Am I missing something obvious?  Where is the integration?  I have to do something to activate it?

    See you soon,.

  • vCenter Operations Manager doesn't show any new virtual machines added

    Hi all

I have a 5.5U2 of vSphere environment coupled with Operations Manager 5.8.4 vCenter in this environment, I have a strange behavior as new created virtual machines are not directly shown in the tree view of the infrastructure. Sometimes they raise within the hour, sometimes, others may need several days to appear.

If I want an immediate reflection of VMS in vCenter, I have the best "Workaround", I tried to restart the services Operations Manager vCenter virtual machine of the user interface.

All components are registered in DNS names, I checked that all entries are correct, that is the case. And they can be solved.

Operations Manager vCenter is secured by a member of MS internal CA of an Active Directory domain.

After "googleing"I've seen a similar question on hosts that are not visible, but not the VMs."

Some of you have already experienced this kind of questions?

    Thanks for your comments,

    Michael

As reported by the VMware support, it's normal behavior with this version of vCOPS. Switch to the 6.x version to solve the problem.

    Hi all

Has had a call with VMware Support and the development of consumption measuring team. This is a bug in version 3.4, and there is a solution for this.

The workaround is to use the user SSO ([email protected]) to connect to vCenter Server to the extent of consumption.

  • How to remove vCenter Operations Manager to the extent of consumption?

    Hello

I imported data from metering 3.3.2 to 3.4. Collection fails:

'No info extension Operations Manager for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx vCenter we didn't took a vCenter Server.

There was a vCops a long time ago, but it has been uninstalled for a long time according to the removal instructions (VMware KB2036389) including the defection of the extension.

Manage / products a buttons only rebuild and change to vCops, but how can I remove vCops to operate the data collection?

Note: You mentioned that you had already registered vCOPs/vROPs with vCenter. If this is the case, then you can skip step 1.

Here are the steps that I followed which allowed me to delete a previously docommissioned vCOPs/vROPs vCLUM server.

    1. make sure that the server vCOPs/vROPs is more entered with vCenter

    2. in the portal web vCLUM, click Manage in the top right

    3. make sure that the products tab is selected

    4. click on the checkbox Show inactive

    5. click on the button delete next to the vCenter your old server vCOPs/vROPs was previously attached (you will get a prompt saying that it will not remove the vCenter if he he already asked for data)

    6. Finally, click Activate next to the vCenter.

    I hope this helps!

  • Operations Manager 6.1 5.5 Web client on vSphere link refer to the IP address instead of the FULL domain name

    Hello

We have a new environment vROps 6.1. Everything works like a charm, except when I get the Web Client vSphere. Hosts and Clusters - monitor - health, I try to click on the "see details in vCenter Operations Manager" and I get sent to the IP address to one of the nodes in the cluster vROps. This translates into a certificate error. We have signed all the certificates for the solution of vROps, but that doesn't help us when the link refers to one IP address. Any way to change the behavior of the link to go instead of the full domain name?
