  I understand that Firefox profile data loss can be very frustrating, especially when you had the same profile for a while. Unfortunately, if there is no return to the top of the profile, it is not possible to recover.

  I regularly use Internet Options to delete my files, Cookies, and browsing history, especially after a lot of navigation. Deleted history is confirmed when I click on the drop down arrow on the address bar, and all previous searches have been removed.
  However, whenever I click on the address bar to search for a web page, as soon as I type in the first letter, and sometimes the second letter of the name, the drop-down window comes up with a list of previous addresses that I've "wanted", as well as possible matches.
  This tells me that my history of browsed sites was not in fact completely removed from the system and indeed provide any other user of my computer at home a partial/potential list of sites I have visited.
  Can anyone help this neophyte work around this potentially embarrassing problem.

  Some of the temporary internet files cannot be deleted because it will run in the background with the internet.

  You can leave these files because it will harm your computer.

  I went in and deleted my cookies and I closed my options and then returned and one in particular was back. So I completely closed FireFox, it has reopened and left on empty FireFox homepage.   I had about 200 tabs grouped together in about 30 groups of 31.0 Firefox (latest version).   My OS is Windows 8.1 update 1 with all updates installed. My antivirus is Avast! with all updates installed. There was some malware installed of course, but I'm not awake me.
