file drop down box was not, asking computer drive also appears

file drop-down list appears with the drive of a computer box.  It's on windows Vista with Service Pack 2 installed. and he did not do it before the update was installed on 22/09/2010 what is happening offline as well.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. The 'remains' of your previous versions NAV can be troublemakers here.

1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled always immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

6 do a clean install of the current version of your Norton application (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

NOTE: Do NOT activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a prompt "no update more".

8 for good measure, open IE (32-bit) only to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the Fix It.

9. also for good measure, open Internet Explorer (32-bit) only at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 [1] & run the difficulty it in DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [2]

10. restart a last time & test.

  • drop-down boxes will not open

    I use an ASUS laptop with windows 8.  Problem, all started yesterday.  On any Web site I can get that uses drop-down boxes to enter information selections didn't remain open.  The selections of flash upward, but disappear quickly.  I tried to restart, but no luck.

    I downloaded windows 8.1 and it corrects the problem.  I suspect it's an 8.0 update that caused the problem.

    Everytime I open the tool of bosses to try a selection a new schema from the drop-down list is just a small chip rather than a box where I can see the templates that are available. I tried to click on the different display modes (large list of thumbnails, etc) and nothing changes the size of this drop-down list box. It's just a little drop, where I can barely tell who is who. Anyone have an idea how I can fix this? I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program and nothing works. Pleas help!

    I suggest the steps and check if that helps:
    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Playerand then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

    Currently, the State or Province in your default Contact point of view is mapped to the Contact status field.

    As per the attached screenshot, the Contact of State field using values from the selection of Siebel billing US State list.

    So that you can either change the selection list of Siebel of billing to one of:

    State or Province

    State or Province - 19/07/2010 14:18:28

    State or Province - 2010-08-18 14:29:07

    You should go and confirm these select lists have the correct value, or you can change to Siebel billing list to include the provinces.

    You can access lists of selection to evaluate-> data tools-> of installation-> Setup data-> select manage lists.

    I think this is a related issue of Windows, because it is the Manager to save the windows file that we are talking about here (right?). You should contact Microsoft for help with this one, I think. You expect to be able to delete entries simply by touching delete on your keyboard when they are concentrated (that is how it goes for the removal of the form entries specific autocomplete in Firefox), but I have not tried.

    Yesterday, I was working on the Wix site. I noticed that when I tried to do a right click to copy and paste text box never showed up. I realized then, on other sites, in the drop down menus would not open (as the ones where you select your State, etc.). I can't turn on the bar menu at the top of Firefox with the ALT key, but when I click Tools or anything else, the box does not fall down. Same thing for my bookmarks and menu of frequently used buttons. My right click works fine when I'm not online. I really like to use Firefox and hope that there is a better solution than to switch to a different browser. I use Firefox at work and it's there.

    Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

    If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

      then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode

    That fall down, and the serial number you provide must identify the previous version that you upgraded because CS6 is an upgraded version in your case.
