  I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

  I does no change, I didn't download a document from my email (from a sender of confidence). I tried to start in safe mode, just, it restarts and goes back to the corrupted checksum display... Last known good config was the same result! The only error message is one that is in the title of this post, not others. Another detail, that I forgot to add is that it does not get insofar as a logo windows before it fails, just the toshiba start screen, then either passes the corrupt message checksum or a blue screen and restarts before I can read the text on the blue screen.   update your AV checker and scanner mp4 files play not only to make sure that everything is OK with them.

  Try another media player like free VLC to see if that plays OK. Download and install VLC (don't let him not take your reader by default until you are happy with it) and see if it plays OK. If so this may mean that video files are OK, but using a codec WMP is not compatible.
