find the oracle home

Hello

DB: 8i and 10g and 11g
OS: Redhat 5 and AIX 6

We have 5 db in a test server with the same user name and is home to different oracle. People sometimes mistakenly launched the db to another oracle home. How to find an instance using what kind of welcome in the oracle server?

How to find?

Thank you and best regards,
VN

The verbal and demo explanation does not use the original location/Oracle HOme of the previously
installed for the binary PFRD base.   It probably should.

In addition, for some steps to follow to patch binaries PFRD, I'd put it:

Step 4.  I am guessing that the patch will establish an another sub dir Disk1 and don't want to overwright
installation of the initial PFRD, therefore, moves the Group of hotfixes as follows.

    CD/opt/web/install/PortalUpgradeAdvisor/pfrd
    960 ls - ltr
    Group of hotfixes mkdir 961
    Group patches 962 mv p11060983_111140_LINUX.zip

    Unzip 964 *.

    Yes, VNC gui and

Specify the installation location.  Always to
    Oracle Middleware homepage: / opt/oracle/Middleware
    and
An Oracle home directory: as_2 # I bet it must be as_1 because that is where the initial PFRD install binary files has occurred.

NOTE: The summary of the Installation in the video screen escape the Oracle Home is the previous specified during the initial installation. That is to say. PFRD_Binaries.   I guess I should have named that instead of taking the default as_1. At least I would have to have done that.  Well.  Maybe this story might help the next guy.

    Also

NOTE: The Installation screen is not "from" group of patches as in the video where it says
Install Oracle Portal, forms, reports, and discover the Group of hotfixes.

    Hi Charlie
I'm a little confused by this feedback. Especially when you say that you see the option "install - do not configure. Should this option is visible only when you run the Basic 11.1.1.2 PFRD the software installer. The Group of hotfixes 11.1.1.4 has his own 'runInstaller'... and this will display what you see in the viewlet. You definitely run the installer from the directory of stage in the Group of hotfixes? (I'll do my own validation test - if I find something strange going on... I'll report.)

I now take the following action

    1. I will put the Viewlet so it is clear that the Group of hotfixes is staged in a different place from the base 11.1.1.2 media
    2. provide that nothing must be running (because at this point, no instance of 11 g of construction has been configured)
    3. There's a "slippage" that illustrates the Middleware and Oracle Home entries in the screen "Location of Installation to specify" IE

    Middleware homepage: / u01/alca_portal/middleware
    Oracle home: PFRD_Binaries

However, you will see that this slide for 2 seconds (which is an error) and if you miss it probably.

Just FYI - the House of Oracle 11 g correction is in general the same procedure as patching a mid-layer House AS10g i.e

-You set the Oracle Home base using the installation of the basic software program
-You patch the Oracle home using the installation program of the Group of hotfixes

  • Why can I not find the oracle.dbtools package

    Hello
Im trying to develop an extension for sql developer. To complete my post, I need oracle.dbtools in the application. Everywhere I have look on the internet shows a few people who use it and for some reason any my JDeveloper find not what so ever. Where can I find this or what can I do to solve my problem.

    Thank you

    David,

Have you tried to look inside the following jar file in both

    1. a JDeveloper Studio 11.1.1.4 installation:...\jdeveloper\sqldeveloper\lib\oracle.sqldeveloper.utils.jar
    2. a SQL Developer 3.1 installation:...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\lib\oracle.sqldeveloper.utils.jar

    Both contain an oracle\dbtools\raptor\newscriptrunner\CommandRegistry.class

I reference 11.1.1.4 since, as you probably know, the scope of the SQL Developer extension uses is based on this version of JDeveloper.

  • where to find the Oracle libraries

I have a pot that runs in Linux32, with a JDK that includes the JDK to Oracle.
I then tried in Windows32. I do not have a JDK Windows32, so I got error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/javatools/util/CommandParser

When can I get Oracle libraries which include CommandParser and other classes of Oracle? I think that if I install JDev for Windows32, it will bring the libraries. But do not know which way I must add to the classpath.

Can someone please advise? Thank you!

I installed JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 on Windows XP 32-bit. class oracle.javatools.util.CommandParser is contained in this JAR:
    \oracle_common\modules\oracle.javatools_11.1.1\javatools-nodeps.jar

I use a nice freeware utility called JarScan, which allows me to quickly scan directories trees together to find jars containing specific Java classes. I recommend this utility, you can get it from https://jarscan.dev.java.net/

  • 2 products installed in the Oracle home

Our security scanner indicates that our Oracle 10 g install has a vulnerability that should be address with the installation of CPUApr2011.  Our server is patched with each 10g CPU until end of life in August 2013, so I know that it is a false failure.  But a question I have is the opatch lsinventory command indicates that I have 2 products installed in my house from Oracle:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installed products of higher level (2):

    Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.1.0

Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4-10.2.0.5.0a

There are 2 products in this House of Oracle.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is making say me?  Should I actually 2 installs Oracle in this House?

    Thanks in advance

You have installed the 10.2.0.1.0 released and during this 10.2.0.5 basis. You release is 10.2.0.5.

    You can check this by

    (i) run sqlplus command line 'sqlplus-version '.

(II) in the database "select * from version$ v.

  • Find the Oracle data source...

I inherited a ColdFusion 10 app with a backend Oracle 11g; Windows Server.    I am especially a DBA and not an expert in ColdFusion.  In the application code, they have the hardcoded data source.  In other words, when I move to Test I have to change the source data, load the modules and test.   After a successful test, I need to change the data source, once again, to download and the promoted to production.   I seem to remember in the old application, I used to support, the code was generic and the data source depends on what server you were lit; If the development, testing or production, you don't have to worry.  I don't remember how it was done.   What would be the best way to eliminate this hard coding and make it more automated?   I know I'm probably missing something, but you were all very helpful to me in the last few weeks, so I hope that he is not a stupid question.   Thank you.

I do not have Admin CF

You can specify that?  Do you mean that you do not have access to the CF Admin?

Not having access to the CF Admin, I'm not sure you can do something differently as you are now., unless you're writing a logic to examine the server host name or the domain name of the site and set the source of data accordingly.

If you can access the CF Admin, create two data sources: one for production and one for testing.  Then in application.cfc, you can write logic to examine the server host name or the domain name and indicate 'this.datasource' to whatever datasource is appropriate.

  • Just installed ODT 11.1.0.6.20 but could not find the Oracle Explorer

I downloaded and installed the latest ODT, but there is no Oracle Explorer under the menu option view in VS2008. Installation went well without error. I could see the new options under the Tools menu option debugging. I even uninstalled just the developer tools and reinstalled and it's the same thing.

On my PC it has VS2003, VS2005, VS2008 and I chose VS2008 only for the ODT.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

'Oracle explorer' has the old way worked what ODT. The current versions now directly integrated as a data source in the built in Server Explorer instead.

  • Give advice about uninstalling the database Client Oracle under Windows with multiple Oracle homes

    Hi all.

Probably a Client of Oracle database uninstall will arrive in a Windows box, where there are several houses of Oracle:

    (1) the Oracle Database 11 g Client is.

    (2) the House of Oracle Oracle database server.

    (3) oracle 6i Oracle Home.

    I have these concerns:

    (1) do I stop Oracle Services NOT related to the Oracle Home being deleted? I guess that's not necessary, but it is recommended?

    (2) the YES program to run must be or is better to use the YES program located at removed Oracle (Oracle Client to Database 11 g in this situation)?

"(3) I see there are additional post - installation according to section 5.3 steps"manually remove the Oracle database Client components remaining' the Oracle Client Installation Guide for Windows.

Could someone provide the additional steps or recommendations?

Sorry but I do not trust the windows plataform much!

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards, Luis!

    Hello myluism,

You can use the oracle supplied binary dinstall to uninstall oracle binaries that you can download from this url of Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 for Microsoft Windows (x 64) that looks good in your context.

In addition, you can also uninstall the binary files by running the dinstall respecitive houses Oracle located in the path: ORACLE_HOME\dinstall.

Please go through the url: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e47959/deinstall.htm#NTCLI1326

    I hope this helps.
