  Are you zoom in on the timeline? You can't adjust the video position on the timeline into smaller steps that 1 frame at a time. The framework is the basic unit of the video.

  If you pass you your timeline to show Audio time units, you can transfer the audio in the timeline panel in small increments.

  Just some thoughts...

  It may be useful if you are going to... Tools / Options / Compatibility tab...
  and uncheck all filters.

  Also... it might be a compatibility problem with your source files...
  (videos / photos / music files)

  Several formats are apparently compatible with
  Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

  Photos - bmp
  Video - wmv or dv - avi
  Music - wma, wav, wmv

  With the clip selected in the timeline panel, move the effect controls panel. In the section of Audio effects, the level setting allows you to enter a two digit decimal value (by example, - 6.09).   You use the scroll bar that you get when you click the gear in the top middle of your screen.  This bar only works on clips in the clips pane, not in the time line.

  The slider beside the button settings in the middle right side of your screen expands the time line so that the clips in it are spread out more.

  Also, if you click on the settings button, a dialog box appears that contains a scroll bar to adjust the size of the clip in the timeline.

  Somehow, when the first update, the original files became corrupt after the update. It seems that any place where there is an added effect has been corrupted. This horrible. Nearly three hours of footage has been erased. Have to re-register from scratch. Never again. Sign out of my account of cloud and buy Final Cut.

  Adobe has disabled the server activation for pre CS3 products a long time ago and that's why you are unable to activate your product. I can not to suggest what to do, but I don't know that CS2 owners with this problem can download a version specially created that doesn't require activation. To my knowledge, no such version exists for CS. It is a sensitive issue because the download site clearly indicates that there must be an existing CS2 owner.
